The decking material which was supposed to last 30 plus years began to peel and disintegrate after 3 years from installation. Between 2002 and 2007, there was a manufacturing defect in our [redacted] Plant that caused a small percentage of product to suffer from this problem. The issue is the subject of a nationwide class action settlement. On April 7, 2010, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (San Jose Division) issued a Final Order approving a class action settlement covering this defect. Copies of the relevant documents can be found at [redacted]. Pursuant to the terms of the settlement, Trex has agreed to replace any decking boards suffering from the defect, and provide a labor payment in the amount of $0.18 per linear feet of replaced product. The consumer can either go to the website listed above and download the claim form, or they can call [redacted], and someone can arrange for a claim form to be sent to them.
