Denied Mental Healthcare during Covid-19
Unfortunately there’s no way to give a negative on STARZ so I actually had to put a star down but believe me they don’t deserve even one star. I am writing this in hopes that anyone else who has been “left behind by tri-west” will understand what I’m saying. I am a service-connected veteran with severe PTSD. My Mental health therapist have been established for over two years so we were surprised when at the end of September for no reason at all our referral to continue care was not renewed. After a month went by she was able to get through and speak to one of the representatives who told her that she had to be re-cadential etc. She was also informed that the veteran needed to ask for extension of services so that we could continue to have visits. When I called to explain all this to the representative he had a no idea about the program in fact was not very compassionate or knowledgeable. When I asked him his employee ID he said he didn’t have one but clearly all employees have to be recognized in someway shape or form. So not only did they refuse me care of their representatives are absolute and complete liars. I reported this to the VA White House hotline. If any veteran is interested in filing a real complete against tri-west please feel free to look me up on Facebook.

I am submitting this for on my husbands' behalf who is a US Veteran and currently has the Veteran's Hospital as his health care provider He is in need of surgery for cancer and Tri West has lied to us about scheduling appointments for the surgery with the specialist and has gave us phony contact names and disconnected numbers so we can't reach them My husband has talked to several people at TriWest and every time he asks for a name they give him a phony name and the contact numbers are always disconnected The Veterans hospital has told us that Tri West has totally messed up the appointments for his cancer surgery We can't contact them because they refuse to give us the correct names and numbers My husband is a US veteran and it is shameful they are totally incompetent in taking care of our Veterans My husband needs this cancer removed and because of the incompetence of Tri West we having been waiting over months just for a consult to start this process I am appalled at a health care company who uses our servicemen and women like this and for phony advertising

One star selected because review would not submit without a rating selected, if a negative star was available I would have chosen it.

As a Marine combat veteran I have been referred through the TriWest Healthcare Alliance via the Veterans Choice Program because of medical complications requiring specialized care the VA could not cover. I seriously used to think that I would never deal with an organization that was as inept as the VA administrative side is but then came TriWest. The best advice I would give any veteran who has to go through the VCP with TriWest is to pay out of pocket or go bankrupt before you deal with this horribly unprofessional and terribly ill equipped organization.

Without my knowledge triwest has - cancelled appointments, changed doctor's, clinics and dates, and set appointments I was not notified of. TriWest must be a minimum wage call center because their customer service representatives have no professional acumen - most are curt or rude, voice a considerable lack of knowledge of patients scheduling needs and protocol, and do not return calls when they say they will.

My examples from TriWest representatives in their words:

Appointment cancelled - "Oh, someone listed the last number of your last 4 wrong"
Appointment cancelled - "Well, there was a problem with your name"
Appointment cancelled - "Okay, the doctor your VA request was submitted for is a pediatric doctor"
Appointment cancelled - "We will call you back before the appointment" never called

Best response from a TriWest CSR - "That ain't my area of concern"

The best indictment against this organization was when I received a letter in the mail on Saturday 12 May for an appointment on Tuesday 08 May...and the letter was dated 09 May!

TriWest Healthcare Alliance received your request for a response to the subject complaint on March 27, 2015. Thank you for the opportunity to respond.TriWest Healthcare Alliance previously held a contract with the [redacted] ([redacted]). with oversight by its [redacted]...

([redacted]) to administer the TRICARE program for the TRICARE West Region. That contract was awarded to [redacted] in 2012 and [redacted] took over the administration of the contract on April 1,2013, in line with TriWest's closure of that contract arrangement on March 31, 2013. As part of close out of TriWest's contract with the [redacted], TriWest was required to transfer relevant records and remove all TRiCARE records (hard copy and electronic) from TriWestsystems. Therefore, TriWest does not have any records for the individual in question. That said, there is often confusion with our company name. TriWest is a government contractor who previously administered the TRICARE program in the TRICARE West Region. TRiCARE is a health care program provided by the [redacted] to eligible active duty service members, retired service members, and the dependents of both of these groups. My husband is a US veteran and it is shameful they are totally incompetent in taking care of our Veterans. My husband needs this cancer removed and because of the incompetence of Tri West we having been waiting over 5 months just for a consult to start this process.
