Dear Revdex.com, Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms [redacted] complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by Chris K***, the Regional Director of Operations for the College of Theology and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms [redacted] complaint was appropriately resolvedThis determination is based on the following information: Ms [redacted] went through a Disability Discharge of her Title IV loansWithin days of the year waiting period (where taking out new loans would reinstate the discharged loans) Ms [redacted] submitted a Borrower’s Certificate from her Doctor that her condition had improved to the point where she could now enter the workforce and once again become eligible for Title IV loans While the prior loans that were discharged due to a disability accommodation are permanently discharged and not eligible for instatement/repayment, being outside the year window means any new loans taken out will be subject to repayment GCU has reviewed the timeline of events and has exercised its ability to deny Title IV funds under section A(c) of the Higher Education ActDue to the timeframe of events where it appears that Ms [redacted] may have purposefully waited the years to become recertified by a physician to avoid repayment of prior Title IV loans, GCU has made the decision that granting more Federal Aid to Ms [redacted] does not uphold the intent of the accommodation received, nor does it uphold the premise of responsible borrowing In addition to the above information, while GCU is exercising its right to deny awarding Ms [redacted] federal loans, she would still be able to receive any Pell grant funds she is eligible for As well, GCU is not denying her enrollment with GCU I am in the process of contacting her to inform her of this information and to assist with enrollment if she would still like to re-enroll with GCU She is also welcome to contact me at ###-###-#### GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable mannerI hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion Sincerely, Chris K [redacted] College of Theology | Grand Canyon Theological Seminary Grand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of MsMyrna [redacted] ’s complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the Executive Director of Stud [redacted] Services, Nancy P [redacted] and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms [redacted] ’s complaint was appropriately resolvedThis determination is based on the following information:Ms [redacted] signed an enrollm [redacted] agreem [redacted] for the Doctor of Education Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Behavior Health on January 27, with an effective start date of February 5, This enrollm [redacted] agreem [redacted] states the learner has access to and agreed to adhere to all policies in the University Policy Handbook Further, Ms [redacted] actively participated on a welcome call with her Stud [redacted] Services Advisor (SSA) Melissa Allen on February 3, whereby all financial, academic, and ***endance policies were reviewedThis conversation was recapped with a summary of the information presented on the call in an email s [redacted] to Ms [redacted] by the SSA on February 3, immediately after the call was completed.Ms [redacted] ’s was enrolled in course RESon February 5, 2015; her first ***empt at this course Ms [redacted] dropped the course on March 4, As Ms [redacted] states in her complaint, she was responsible for 100% of the costs associated with the course since she dropped outside of the published refund period These costs include tuition ($1,890), the learning managem [redacted] fee ($400) and her Canyon Connect fee ($105) for a total in the amount of $2, Financial aid was disbursed on February 13, in an amount of $5,with a stipend check in the amount of $1,mailed to Ms [redacted] on February 19, Since Ms [redacted] fell out of ***endance for a period longer than days, her account became subject to the Departm [redacted] of Education’s return to lender calculation that determines the amount of disbursed aid that Ms [redacted] earned The result of this calculation determined that the entire disbursem [redacted] had to be returned to the lender which in-turn created a balance on Ms [redacted] ’s account in the amount of $3,which included the amount of $2,for fees described above plus the $1,from the stipend which Ms [redacted] received.During due diligence ***empts to collect on Ms [redacted] ’s balance, she decided that she wanted to return to class on May 27, to repeat RES By doing so, GCU would be able to recover the financial aid previously returned which would cover the costs associated with Ms [redacted] ’s first ***empt at RES811, as well as her second ***empt at the course Ms [redacted] was scheduled to return to class on May 27, 2015, however on June 2, Enrollm [redacted] Counselor Chad K [redacted] spoke with Ms [redacted] and she said she forgot to post in to class and also forgot her lcredentials MrK [redacted] provided her with instructions on how to reset her password and Ms [redacted] was not charged tuition for the class She was then rescheduled again for her second ***empt at RESon June 25, and posted in the class on this date but she dropped it on June 29, Prior to dropping her course on June 29, during a telephone call with Ms [redacted] , Stud [redacted] Services Advisor Brenda Roundtree fully counseled Ms [redacted] on the financial and academic impacts of dropping the second ***empt at the course which included the first course completion implications of dropping a second time as well as the financial aid implications Ms [redacted] stated she fully understood thus, MsRoundtree processed Ms [redacted] ’s dropped course request that same day Ms [redacted] was only charged for 25% of the tuition plus the Canyon Connect fee of $for the second ***empt at RESsince she dropped during the first week of the course Unfortunately, since Ms [redacted] dropped her second course prior to the time financial aid was disbursed, GCU was unable to recover the disbursem [redacted] to cover the costs of Ms [redacted] ’s outstanding tuition and fees since learners must be in active ***endance to receive financial aidTherefore, Ms [redacted] owes the costs associated with the first course ($3,397), plus 25% of the cost of tuition for the second course ($472.50) and the Canyon Connect Fee for that second ***empt ($105)Together these fees equate to a total balance due of $3,which is fully substantiated and was reviewed with Ms [redacted] prior to the actions she took All policies were fully reviewed on the telephone as well as through written documentation to support those policies emailed to Ms [redacted] prior to her class start dateShe was also fully counseled on the impact of her actions prior to dropping the second ***empt of the course, and she stated that she understood the impactThe University made over eight due diligence ***empts and s [redacted] four emails to Ms [redacted] over a period of two months trying to help her resolve her balance Unfortunately, these ***empts at resolution were not answered by Ms [redacted] Therefore, the balance due on her account is accurate, was fully reviewed with Ms [redacted] prior to her taking the actions of dropping her courses and are due in fullAccording to Ms [redacted] ’s bankruptcy documents, she filed a Chapter bankruptcy petition on December 9, GCU filed a Proof of Claim on April 12, for $3,and s [redacted] a letter to Ms [redacted] dated April 4, setting forth the legal basis for GCU’s claim for stud [redacted] loan debt As stated in our letter to Ms [redacted] , GCU’s claim is stud [redacted] loan debt pursuant to U.S.CSec523(a)(8) and U.S.CSec221(d)(1) Ms [redacted] is more than welcome to reach out to Ben Meyer in our legal departm [redacted] at [redacted] with any questions or concerns regarding her bankruptcy.GCU takes stud [redacted] complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this m***er to a satisfactory conclusion Sincerely,Nancy RP***College of Doctoral Grand Canyon University

Grand Canyon University claims it has been making attempts to push through my financial aid to have it processed, which is a poor description of the attempt made on their partI am three weeks away from ending my final class at the institution, and still nothing has been processed since my student aid was submitted April 20, Each and every time I desperately call to have the situation settled, I am forwarded to my Student Services Advisor's voicemailI leave a voicemail, which continues to be unreturned, and then choose to speak to her managerI continue to be forwarded to her manager's voicemail, which is also left unreturnedWhen I choose to be forwarded to someone else and ask for the manager, I am told she is in a meetingI am given the meeting excuse every single day I call, with no one returning my voicemailsI have left two voicemails for Dan B***, Director of Operations, with no contact from him as wellI have no doubt in my mind that Grand Canyon University will drag this out for the remaining three weeks of my final class, and withhold my transcripts, leaving me unable to transfer to another collegeTheir actions have led me to gather phone records and email records, a small claims suit will be filedI am appalled that any institution claiming Christian ethics and care for their students would treat anyone this way

I remember specifically explaining to Jesse over the phone after the first incident about how I need for the FASFA information and student aid to go through because this is what I rely on in order to continue my education besides taking out student loansAs mentioned in the response, yes, I am aware of the primary and secondary methods of payments which I have not had an issue with prior and has been taken into action before, but this was never an option on these two occasionsI was under the impression of the verification process that I was "selected" for, however I did keep my advisor in the loop of what was going on with the entire process since my father had filed numerous extensions for the tax return in questionWhy couldn't the balance that is owed be taken out of my student loans? In addition, I received a call from Daniel D [redacted] Tuesday the 8th conveniently after I had filed a complaint with the Revdex.com days prior In addition to the dates that are being addressed in the response, those being, January 28, 2016; February 4, 2016; February 12, 2016; February 19, and February 26, 2016, I checked my email to validate the dates but I am not seeing any emails from anyone from GCU regarding these incidents on alleged datesThe voicemail's that I had also received were on January 5th, January 6th and January 22ndI had attempted as well to contact Jesse via phone call after I got off work since I work a odd shift and never received phone calls backI don't know if the messages did not go through or not as well If I plan to pay off this bill in total in order to receive my transcripts, what types of loans will I have to take out? I have tried to take out numerous loans but since you are a private university the policy is differentI want to solve this issue as soon and smoothly as possible so that I can continue my education else where

Dear Revdex.com, Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms [redacted] complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by Danielle R***, Regional Director of the College of Nursing and Health Care Based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms [redacted] complaint was appropriately resolved This determination is based on the following information:Ms [redacted] enrolled with GCU in November and attended until October at which time she was automatically withdrawn for lack of attendance During this enrollment period Ms [redacted] was charged tuition and fees in the amount of $8,for five courses and received $15,in Financial Aid loans and grants Once her loans and grants were applied to her tuition charges, Ms [redacted] was issued a total of $4,in stipend checks However, because Ms [redacted] stopped attending, GCU was required per Federal regulations to complete a return of funds calculation for the unearned funds This resulted in $3,being returned to Ms [redacted] lender which left Ms [redacted] with an account balance in the amount of $2, Had Ms [redacted] returned that portion of her stipends rather than keep the money she would have had a zero balance on her account Nonetheless, on September 1, GCU wrote off Ms [redacted] $2,account balance However, it should be noted that although Ms [redacted] had a bankruptcy case, her balance with GCU was non-dischargeable Therefore GCU was not required to write off her balance, it was simply done in good faith. On November 4, Ms [redacted] signed an Enrollment Agreement to return to her program and started a course on November 30, However, on January 25, Ms [redacted] was once again automatically withdrawn from her course for lack of attendance as she had not attended class for thirty eight days During this time, GCU notified Ms [redacted] numerous times via email that if she did not post into her course she would be removed from class for lack of participation and that this may negatively impact her finances as well as her academic progress Per GCU’s refund policy, which was outlined on the agreement that Ms [redacted] signed, since the withdrawal occurred after the first week of class, Ms [redacted] was 100% financially responsible for the cost of her course in the amount of $1, During this enrollment period Ms [redacted] also received $8,in Financial Aid loans and grants Once her loans and grants were applied to her tuition charges, Ms [redacted] was issued a stipend check in the amount of $2, However, because Ms [redacted] stopped attending, GCU was required per Federal regulations to complete a return of funds calculation for the unearned funds This resulted in $7,being returned to Ms [redacted] lender which left Ms [redacted] with an account balance in the amount of $3, Again had Ms [redacted] returned her stipend check it would have reduced her balance to $ In addition to the above information, GCU made twelve attempts to reach out to Ms [redacted] via telephone and sent Ms [redacted] eleven emails between January 7, and March 14, but was unsuccessful in reaching Ms*** The email communication informed Ms [redacted] that our attempts to resolve her outstanding balance have not been successful, and stated that we would appreciate an opportunity to speak with her to prevent her account from being moved to collections However, Ms [redacted] did not reach out to GCU in order to resolve her account balance Therefore, on March 15, she was notified that her account had been turned over to GCU’s Internal Collections department Internal Collections sent letters to Ms [redacted] on March 16, and on May 4, informing her that her account would be sent to external collections if she did not resolve her account balance Additional attempts were also made to reach Ms [redacted] via email and telephone between April 5, and April 28, However, Mr [redacted] was unresponsive She can contact GCU’s Internal Collections Department at ###-###-#### to discuss her account balance which is due and owing Further, Ms [redacted] can also view her student records by completing a Student Request to Inspect and Review Educational Records form and mailing it to the following address:Office of Academic RecordsGrand Canyon University [redacted] ***Phoenix, Arizona 85017GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.Sincerely, Danielle R***Regional DirectorGrand Canyon University
