Review: My 1998 Toyota Camry was having acceleration issues. It was recommended to replace an oxygen sensor, which was done, with the part being warrantied. After the new part was put in, the acceleration issues continued. My husband and I were referred to Twenty First Century Auto for a diagnosis. We brought the vehicle to them, and were informed that a diagnostic test showed that the replacement part was faulty. Additionally, the diagnostic test showed no damage to wiring or other peripheral parts. At this time, with the part being under warranty, we returned the vehicle to the dealership for a new part. The dealership informed us that is is highly unusual for this particular part to fail, and ran a diagnostic test. This test showed faulty wiring. Ultimately, we paid Twenty First Century Auto for a faulty diagnosis, and Wilde Toyota to correctly diagnose and repair the problem.Desired Settlement: It is clear that no diagnostic test was run on the vehicle. The oxygen sensor was not faulty. Additionally, for this simple computer diagnosis, a full hour of labor was charged.

Response:
I am responding to the letter we received last
week. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was out of
town. This was for [redacted], repair order # 13452. We did
not know there was an issue with this car. Customer never called us or
came in to show he was upset. This car was brought in because his check
engine light was on. He was informed before the test was done, as we
inform everyone, that there would be a $108.73 fee for testing as to what was
causing the light to come on. We will pull the codes on any vehicle as a
courtesy but to test there is a fee. His complaint was thath is car
had P0125 AND P0135 CAME UP. CUSTOMER REPLACED COOLANT TEMP SENSOR AND
O2 BANK 1 SENSOR 1. CAR HAS A HARD SHIFT AT 60 - 70 MPH. He wanted
to know why the problem was still there after he did the work.
He had replaced the oxygen sensor 2 times already and wanted to know why he had
the same issue. we found that oxygen sensor for bank 1 sensor 1 had no
resistance (easiest explanation would be there is a broken wire someplace)
Customer said he would replace the sensor one more time on his own and let us
know of the results. According to the letter we received, the customer
said that the diagnostics showed no damage to wiring or other peripheral
parts. We did not write that on the repair order which I have attached a
copy of, because we were not replacing the part we could not find if there were
any other issues without putting in that "known good part". If the
client had returned to us after he had taken it back to the dealer and informed
us of the findings after they put a "known good part" in we would have come to
an agreeable solution I am sure. We have never done wrong by any of our
customers as our A rating shows. Our recommendation would be to have the
customer come back to us and we will work it out together.
