Ulrick's Service Center Reviews (1)

Reputation is everything in business and once lost difficult to get back. I don't write this easily but it is so apparent that it needs to be written. (this was copied from my Facebook page.)

I have been a Les Schwab customer for years and always frequented them and bought my tires from them. I never really got auto service from them other than maybe an alignment. But they were great with their friendly service and fast FREE tire change over.

In May I went in to change over my tires and they informed me after the change over that it was urgent that they replace my air shocks that they were completely shot. The cost of the shocks alone was almost $1800 (which is the true cost according to many other shops and the dealership.) I did not have the time to leave my vehicle but decided that I would take my vehicle to my regular mechanic Ulrick's Transmission & Service Center? to replace the shocks and do a tune up (I thought I was due for a tune up.)

I have used Larry at Ulrick's now for about eight years and have sent at minimum 20 people to him for service. Every person has come back and said what an unbelievable fair experience they had. Larry had my vehicle for an hour or so and called me and said, "there is absolutely nothing wrong with your shocks and you do not need a tune up, you have 100,000 mile spark plugs. I would have loved the works and to make money but your vehicle doesn't need a thing."

For the record my first experience with Larry was to get a second quote for a transmission rebuild years ago. Another shop (who is now closed) quoted $1900 to rebuild the transmission of my sisters car....Larry was busy but took a second with us and crawled under the car to have a look. He said the problem you are having is not the transmission, all that is wrong is a hose is disconnected and I just fixed that." He would not accept even a dollar for fixing the issue.

Sorry for the length of this but the story continues. I went to Les Schwab a week or so ago to swap to my winter tires when I picked up the vehicle the guy said "I want you to leave the vehicle with me your brakes are at a dangerous level." I said "really, they feel fine and I dont have the ability to leave it over night." He said "you are risking damage to the rotors and dangerous driving with brakes that low."

But I agreed to consider bringing it back in later in the week. But I remembered I had warranty service at Becker Buick that I had booked yesterday and thought I would have them do an oil change (sorry Larry) and vehicle inspection at the same time.

When I picked up the vehicle I looked at the report and spoke to the advisor about what it meant. He said "the brakes are in solid condition and you could easily get another year or more before needing to consider pads for the back ones."

Maybe once could be a mistake issue, but this is the final straw for me.....goodbye Les Schwab and hello to Ulrick's for everything for all of my cars including tire change overs. Free change overs doesnt matter at this point, I would rather pay and have an honest mechanic (who is also an A+ Accredited Member of the Revdex.com) work on my vehicles. Please spread the word and when you go to Ulrick's ask for Larry and tell him Mike sent you!
