Review: On 9/5/14 I purchased a device called a BODYSTAT 1500 Body Fat Analyzer from Vacumed a division of Vacumetrics Inc. This product is designed to assess a patients body fat percentage and provide other pertinent information related to body composition. It's a potentially valuable tool for designing effective dietary plans for weight loss. The Vacumed company led me to believe this device possessed a level of accuracy and precision that would allow it to be used effectively with patients and in research projects.I did not find this to be true. In repeated tests of the device, with the same individual, performed just minutes apart I found the body fat readings varied by as much as 5%. This level of variance is simply not acceptable for my needs. I also compared the results of skin fold measurements, which I am experienced at, with the Vacumed device. And I found they differed by 4-6%. Despite the claims for this product I found it to be extremely inconsistent and unreliable.Certainly not at the level of effectiveness it was portrayed at. Also prior to my purchase Vacumed representatives assured me that my Apple computer would be fully compatible with their software program when in fact it turned out it was incompatible and I was unable to run their software program. Finally upon returning the device to Vacumed they informed me that the device had scratches and dents in it which would prevent it from being resold. I can testify there were no such defects in this device when I mailed it back via U.S. Postal Service. . On inquiring whether we should file a claim with the US Postal Service for the damages the Vacumed representatives balked. They also refused my request to send me a picture of the damaged device leaving me to question the authenticity of the damages. In summary I did not find Vacumed Bodystat 1500 device to measure up to the claims of the manufacturer and I'm seeking a full refund for the money I spent on it.Desired Settlement: My original purchase payment $475.93Cost of returning device 33.28My total payment $509.21Refund Vacumed offered me $225.00ADDITIONAL REFUND I'M SEEKING $284.21
