We have credit back the difference to the customers credit card with it being our error. New dispatcher sorry....

On June 13, 2014, we were called by Ms. [redacted] to pick up her 2008 Ford Focus and take it to a dealership.

Ms. [redacted] called after normal office hours at day and spoke with our dispatcher concerning some damage to a misting system.  She was told the person responsible for...

handling those matters would call her on Monday.

On Monday morning I spoke with Ms. [redacted] about the situation.  She told me that our driver ran over a hose that was laying on the ground and pulled down a misting system.  The hose ran from a faucet to the barn where the misting system  they had a sick horse that was in the barn.

She told me that they weren't going to be there so she had put the car in a position so the car was out of the way of everything and so the garbage truck could pick up the trash.  I tried to ask her additional information but the call was dropped as she told me that she was currently in the mountains near Superior Arizona.

I reached Ms. [redacted] in the afternoon to finish the conversation.  During that conversation I asked her how she knew our tow truck had pulled down the misting system and not the trash truck.  Her answer was because there was black on the hose and the trash truck comes there all the time.  I told her that if either vehicle would have run over the hose there could be black marks from the tires.  Also as part of our conversation, I asked her what damage was done to the misting system.   She told me there was no damage done to it and they had put it back up.  When I asked her to confirm that there was no damage  she got rather short with me telling me how important that misting system was for the horse.   She told me she was just going to file a complain with the Revdex.com and that the dealership was aware of the situation and would never do business with us again and then terminated the call.

I spoke with our tow operator between my phone calls with Ms. [redacted].  He described the area where the car was, the barn that appeared to have a horse in it and a corral next to it with another horse in it.  When I asked him about the hose, he stated that he did see it running on the ground to the barn and made sure that he avoided it as well as maneuvering around a dirt mound to pick up the car.  He has no idea whether the misting system was up and working as he didn't approach the barn.  This is one of our most competent tow operators.  He holds a commercial drivers license and is always aware of his surroundings.

With the [redacted]s not being present while our tow truck or the trash truck were on her property, we have no way to determine who pulled down the misting system.  It is also possible there there was another vehicle on the property that ran over the hose.    Unfortunately, there was no damage to investigate and no physical damage to the misting system to repair so we are unable to determine if we were at fault.

Valley Towing understand Ms. [redacted]'s concern for her horse and hope the horse recovered from it's illness.

Sincerely,

Risk/Safety Manager

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. It is obvious that the company will not stand up to their responsibility as to the damage that occurred at my home. Earnhardt Ford actually paid the towing bill. I would not use Valley Towing again in the future and I would like the complaint to stand for other people to see the complaint.

Review: I had my vehicle picked up at my home to be delivered to [redacted]. I left the vehicle in an easily accessible place for the driver. I was not home. When I returned home, the mister system was torn off my barn, the hose had black rub marks on it, and water from faucet was running on ground because the system was pulled apart. I called the company and spoke to a supervisor. He would not accept any responsibility and when he found out there was no permanent damage, he he told me well, then no harm done. I have an extremely ill horse in that barn that just came back from the hospital. He relies on those misters to keep his body temp down in the Arizona heat.Desired Settlement: Since I had to re-connect the entire mister system and risked the horse's health because the system was not working, I expect the invoice to be nullified because of the negligence of the driver and then the supervisor's lack of customer service when I spoke to him.

Review: On Sunday, May 31, 2015, I called Valley Towing to set an apt for them to pick up my car at my home and take it to [redacted] on Monday morning at 8:00 AM. I had previously had some accident repair work done at [redacted] and I was having a problem with some of the work. They wanted me to bring the car in for warranty repair. The car would start and run, BUT the undercarriage part of the front bumper had come loose and was dragging on the pavement so I did not want to drive it to the repair shop. Therefore, the car was very easily loaded onto the tow truck. It did arrive as scheduled on Monday morning and I rode in the tow truck for the 11 mille trip to [redacted]. I told the driver that I would be paying the bill but said he was instructed to bill it to [redacted]. I made sure [redacted] was aware that I would be paying for the tow but I was not made aware until after the tow truck driver left that he had given them a bill for $402.00 to tow my car for 11 miles. Even the [redacted] Center manager told me that was an exorbitant amount for a very short-distance and uncomplicated tow. I refused to pay that amount and called Valley Towing and talked to [redacted], who gave me the indication that they thought it was going to be an insurance claim - I guess that somehow allows gives them a license to steal? I talked to [redacted] for awhile on the phone, which was a great inconvenience because by that time, my car was fixed and I was able to leave to get to work. I told him I would not be paying $402.00!! The best he would do is come down to $252.00, which I grudgingly gave him my credit card over the phone for. However, in the interim, I have checked with another [redacted] company - [redacted] Towing, and they quoted me $115.00 for this same trip. While I understand that Revdex.com does not work on complaints that are solely based on "price", I think the underlying attempt at theft by deception warrants an investigation. It was clearly ME that hired the tow truck and it was clearly ME that should have received and paid this bill, which I told the driver at the time the bill was written out. He did not show it to me or discuss it with me. At no time did Valley Towing have my permission to inflate the charges and give a bill to [redacted]. I feel that even the $252.00 charge is an inflated amount for the minimal service I requested.Desired Settlement: I feel that Valley Towing owes me a REFUND of $100.00 of the $252.00 that I paid to them. I believe this is a generous request on my part since I could have had [redacted] do this same service for $115.00. This allows Valley Towing a total charge of $152.00 - more than fair for service performed. I have used Valley Towing before when my car needed a short tow and flat tire changed and they charged me MUCH less than what I have had to pay today for a short uncomplicated tow.
