Review: I called this company to fix our garage door-the arm bar piece was bent causing the trolley to come off of its allignment. The service technician claimed we needed a new trolley-they charged us $139 for a part that is $24 on the internet. The part that I am complaining about is that they did not even replace the part. The trolley has dirt, grime and even rust on it that shows it has not been replaced it even has a serial number that is faded due to the wear of the track rubbing against it. They charged us for a part they never even replaced. We tried to deal with the company and only pay them the labor charge and the arm bar part but they are refusing to acknowledge any wrong doing and will accept only full payment. I am taking them to small claims court but felt the public should also be warned of their practices.Desired Settlement: I would like them to accept payment for the part they did replace and labor but I refuse to pay $169 for a part they did not even replace.

Had the tension spring in my garage door break. Called this company which the owner said it starts at $89 for spring and installation. Had a sales tech come to give me an free estimate as per the owner, the tech quoted verbally I was looking at $193. During this time he was in communication with the owner in regards to if he was including installation with that price. I told the tech at this time I can't afford to pay today to have it installed as that was higher then I expected. He told the owner on the phone which the tech said he wanted to speak to me. Instead of discussing when would be a proper time financially to do this, the owner over the techs cellphone starts yelling at me about why did I call yesterday to have someone come out at 7am if I can't afford $200 (7am was the 1st available he told me he can have a sales tech look and he told me it starts at $89 to do this repair) he continued to yell which I couldn't keep the phone to my ear and the sales tech appeared to be embarrassed and shook my hand to leave. Sad part was if it wasn't for the owner he would have gotten the job, just at a later date.

Review: We are writing to register a formal complaint regarding ValueMax Garage doors. We brought a new garage door opener from ValueMax about 18 months ago when our last standard door opener failed. ValueMax sold us what they described as a very advanced and safe new unit that was very expensive (around $700 installed or more than double what we usually paid)

When the weather got cold last year, the new (nearly a year old) opener broke and we had Value Max out and they had to replace the motherboard which was not covered in the warrenty and what they said was a very rare occurrence. It was another $300. They assured us this was extremely rare.

This year the door has broken once again and Value Max has been extremely difficult to work with not showing up for 3 scheduled appointments, not returning or answering calls and the door is still not fixed. We have now spent over $1000 on a door opener with a company that seems barely capable of tying a shoe.Desired Settlement: Refund our money so that we can buy a working garage door opener.

Review: On 8/26/2014 a Value Max garage door technician responded to our call to Service Pro garage door company for replacement of 2 remotes that no longer worked with our LiftMaster garage door opener. He said we had frequency problems and needed a radio receiver connected to our garage door opener in the ceiling. The cost of that was $189.95. He proceeded to do that and programmed 2 new remotes to the garage door opener and our car to the new frequency. The total cost for this repair was $428.54 which I paid by check. They did not provide an invoice at the time. The technician said they were a "green company" and would be sending the invoice to me in email. He had me sign an IPAD where all I saw was the details of the repair that had been done. When I copied the emailed invoice the next day there was a statement at the bottom that had never been shown me: By signing this invoice with Value Max ... and (iii) pursuant to Section 1689.13of the Calif Civil Code, customer acknowledges and hereby waives all rights to cancel this sale and/or invoice within 3 days". No one showed me that language or explained that was what I was signing. About an hour after the technicians left,we discovered that although the remotes worked, we could no longer open the garage door using the button the wall. We thought we were calling Service Pro again but actually got a 3rd company, Door Mart, that sent out a technician the next morning. After looking at the radio receiver installation, he said we did not need the receiver. There wasn't anything wrong with the frequency. They should have just coded the 2 new receivers into the learn button on the Liftmaster. Also they had incorrectly connected the receiver to the connection where the wall button control was so that is why it didn't work after they left. He disconnected the receiver and made sure the remotes, car opener and wall openers all worked. Because we believed that Value Max had sold us a product that was not needed we decided to stop payment on our check.Desired Settlement: On 9/12/14 a representative from Value Max Garage Doors called very irate that our check had been returned/insuf. funds. We explained that we stopped payment because we had been sold a product that we didn't need for a repair that didn't need to be done. I explained that we would pay for the service call and the 2 remotes and programming but would not pay for the receiver and that they could come pick it up if they wanted to do that. They could send us a new invoice and we would pay.He hung up.

Do not ever engage them in any call for business, do not call them, trust me!!!!!. they are scammers and they will try to rip you off so bad, they might as well wear a ski mask. they are unprofessional and unethical from top to bottom, when you call in and when they come to your home. trust me, they will come out and charge you for fixes that do not solve the problem, they want to keep coming to keep getting paid and then they will try to sell you up on things in their truck that are 3 to 4 times over the market price and if you catch on to them, they will say they have to leave for a hour and will not come back and never will return and the office will say they will return and they will outright lie, so unprofessional. never, never, never again will I contact unreputable hacks from the internet as them. listen to people and do research and contact reputable local companies to get things fixed and not companies that dispatch unethical people who are paid on how much they sell you.

Review: Company came out to repair garage door. They were referred by [redacted]. Value Max was at my residence for only 20 minutes. They did one quick adjustment and sprayed some oil. They charged $236.00. They failed to: 1. Tell me their license was expired. 2. Explain cost before they did the work so I could say no... that's too much! I am 92 years old, and they took advantage of my age.Desired Settlement: 1. Provide an itimized bill. 2. Refund for over charges.

Review: Looking at different web sites for garage door replacement and repairs, anyone can get a complete new replacment for under $1000. Value Max charged me %^$523 just to change the springs, and this was done in February of 2013.Anyone with half a brain can seed these guys are not interested in giving fair value for what they charge. I'm really disappointed that there are still companies like this one that takes advantage of senors.Desired Settlement: A reasonable refund that reflects the true cost of a spring replacement that includes two springs, one center plate, and "new install" whatever that means. At least $150. [redacted]Sunnyvale, CA Also, I highly recommend anyone seeking home repairs use Diamond Rated services. They don't rip you off!

Review: failure to repair garage door and charge with life time warranty.

We called Value Max since it showed up top on the order when doing google search near Pleasanton. It has local 925 area code but business not located locally.

They sent someone named "[redacted]" who showed up many hours than promised time and charged higher than printed price by local other service with the promise of LIFETIME warranty and changed "springs" ($250). Garage door did not open and stucked in the middle within 2 hours he left and I kept calling and either customer service or [redacted] replied on that day. Our cars were stuck inside the house and garage door is not even able manually.

Nextday on July 3rd, we called again and someone from 916 area code named [redacted] showed up many hours than promised time and charge additional $325 for additional problem he said it needs to be changed. First service person [redacted] did not mention that issue and issue came up after [redacted] fixed the spring.

I was very unhappy with punctually and service that is supposed to be "LIFETIME" warranty which does not even cover for a few hours. I don' think I can trust pay additional money and if something happens again, they may send 3 rd person to find other way of charging more. As soon as we asked more question to 2nd person named [redacted] who suddenly decide to take away my cable connected to spring and left door completely not operational.

WHEN I READ YELP AND Revdex.com COMPLAINT, I UNDERSTOOD THAT I CANNOT USE ORDER OF GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS TO CALL FOR YOUR SERVICE NEEDS.

HOPEFULLY OTHER PEOPLE WILL NOT SUFFER FROM THIS SCAM.

Desired Settlement: Complete refund for service they failed to repair with Lifetime warranty for service and labor.

Review: a) We have called the owner twice after the initial installations, and the owner said he will have his technician call me up. He never called me back. The second time, the owner said he will call me back, but never did.

b) Currently, no one answers the phone at the numbers above, and I sent several inquiries and request via the online request form, but no response ever.

Desired Settlement: a) We need the technician to come by and tighten the new coil that was installed so the garage door does not slip down and hit our car when parking and moving the car in/out of the garage.

b) We do not want to be charged $89.00 service fee for warranty work done after 30 days after original service date of April 19, 2013. I called the owner twice before May 19, 2013 but the technician never came.

Review: Value Max came and replaced garage door springs in April 2015. Sept 2015 we had another issue that caused to look at the size of the springs replaced. Turns out the springs replaced were too big. I requested to Value max to come recheck. They did and agreed the spring size was incorrect and would replace them for 89 dollars. I said no. I want to talk to a supervisor/said no supervisor . I am not paying them to fix their mistake. I called 6 times and left messages and no body has called me. The machine says the are doing inventory till August 30 and will call on Monday. AUGUST is OVER. ITS OCTOBER. I am getting the run around. P{LEASE HELP I paid $285.00 on April 7th 2015. name [redacted]Desired Settlement: Fix the size of the springs to be correct. You over installed the size of the springs. Used were red NEEDS TO BE YELLOW, per new company

Review: I am the store manager of a retail location. We contacted Value Max regarding the repair of a roll down gate. The call was placed Monday July 7th. I spoke with ** the dispatcher, who informed us the specialist for commercial repair [redacted] was available Thursday the 10th. Because of the wait the standard fee for inspecting the unit would be waved. On Thursday the 10th [redacted] inspected the unit. He speculated several times as to what the issue might be, but failed to relate any definite estimate before proceeding. It was not until after he had already worked on the unit that he provided any sort of concrete pricing, assuring us we had lucked out avoiding the cost of a new motor. The invoice provided (the first definitive quote given after [redacted] had communicated with Value Max) charged not only for labor costs by hour (which we were only informed was set at a minimum of 3 hours after the fact), but for each individual modification made to the wiring, in spite of the fact that no material costs were incurred or parts replaced. Although the stacked costs seemed high, the work was done and the gate appeared to function properly, so we paid the invoice in good faith.Within 2 weeks the gate ceased to operate. It failed to work even through the short 30 day warranty period specified. We contacted the company, and again [redacted] was not available until the following Thursday, July 31st. Upon return his assessment was that the motor was no longer operational, giving us a high estimate for replacement. A brief inspection by a more honest company the next day revealed the motor was indeed mechanically sound (short of a botched wiring job by Value Max), and that the unit could be fixed including parts and labor at a fraction of the cost. All further attempts to communicate with Value Max for a refund have ended with belligerence, avoidance, and denial of responsibility. They have subsequently refused to provide even a company email to redress our concerns and are now blocking incoming calls.Desired Settlement: Full refund for unsuccessful repair job.

Review: My home garage opener not working, my wife called "Value Max Garage Doors" and have the technician [redacted] came over. The Value Max Garage Doors website said it is free estimate. [redacted] didn't give me the written estimate, he just told me the estimate orally. I heard the following the items' charges are $5 each (One premium center bearing and One premium end ball bearing plate), so I authorize the oral estimate. But at the end, I was surprised to see the $5 charge changed to $79.95. If I had the written estimate upfront, then I would not authorize the work. The charges are way more than our initial budget ($225 more than initial $550), we felt being tricked at the end and forced to pay this amount.Desired Settlement: We would accept the total charges to be $585.

Review: I paid about $1,000 to this company over the last couple years for different garage door repairs. I called them to fix my not-closing door. Their price was too high. The repairman demanded a fee for coming out. I declined to put a check in his hand. The owner, who identified himself as "[redacted]" phoned me. He was shouting. I said, send me a bill. He said, no ae, when you get your new garage door I will hit it with a truck and dent it. I will damage your door. I said, no, just send me a bill. He continued shouting and threatening to damage my property. I have filed a report with the Davis Police Department by email. I will file in person if the PD tells me that is necessary.Desired Settlement: The business should leave me alone, and should NOT follow through on threats to damage my property.
