Review: Our residential builder chose Van Wyks as their subcon for our driveway. We met with them to discuss additional items we would like poured at the same time including a side drive and forms for our deck. We specifically asked Van Wyks to pour the driveway and side drive with smooth edges and brushed concrete in the middle. We were told that would be no problem. We were also told by [redacted] that they would use a laser to level out the forms for the deck. Work began and the side drive was poured with the correct edging on day one. On day two the driveway and walk were poured without the edging as specified. The concrete forms were not leveled and some were significantly crooked. [redacted] was contacted that night and we left a message, no return call. We called several more times and left messages and did not get a response. Our side drive looks completely different than the rest of the driveway and in order to get the deck built we had to grind down some of the concrete forms for them to be level. Several months later [redacted] showed up at our home and we told him about the issues and that we expected at least $500 off the total bill. [redacted] sent us a bill for the full amount. Again we called several times and left messages. Finally we received a call back where we were told we already received a discount. Looking at my quote, I see no discount what so ever. We requested the $500 off the bill and [redacted] told us he would only give us $100 off the bill and that we needed to pay it by the end of the month or he would charge us interest. The bill has been paid in full in order to avoid interest charges even though work was not done as specified.Desired Settlement: Requesting $500 off of invoice as I feel that is fair considering the work was not done as specified and cannot be repaired as it is permanent.

I do not agree with the statement that the customer

made to you in regards to what happened at the job site. As you can see

by reading the letter that Van Wyks sale manager wrote about what

happened at the site things don’t line up. You can see that Van Wyks did

give the Therrians a discount that was agreed to by Mr. Therrian. We

believe we did what was asked for and within the contract that we have

with [redacted] Homes which paid for the driveway. We have also given the

Therrians discounts in the total of $800.00. I have included a copy of

[redacted] letter.
