Review: In December 2013, [redacted], the [redacted] for Vanguard came to our office for the purpose showing us how their company could clean the [redacted] office at [redacted]. We asked for services from Monday through Friday, after 6:00 p.m. After several visits with [redacted] of Vanguard, and [redacted] and I from [redacted], showing him the offices and the services we desired, along with meeting [redacted], the [redacted] for Vanguard, [redacted], the principal of the company, signed a contract on January **, 2014 with a start date of February *, 2014 (copy enclosed). [redacted] and I were very specific in the type of service expected and [redacted] and [redacted] agreed that they would be able to do it.On February *, 2014, Vanguard started their services. A copy of the requests in the log book we made for Vanguard is attached. On February *, it snowed. On my way to the office on Tuesday, February *, I received a call from [redacted] that she was unable to get to the office to clean it the previous night due to the snow and that her car broke down. As a result, our office was unlocked, uncleaned and unattended. I spoke with [redacted] immediately and he was shocked. That evening, February *, 2014, [redacted] apologized for the problem .On February **, 2014, I wrote an email to [redacted] regarding the problems we had been having with the cleaning of the, Bathrooms were not cleaned well, trash cans were not emptied, or if they were, they were left in the middle of the floor with no plastic liners in it. [redacted] also sent an email to [redacted]. They also requested a new site manager, since [redacted] was clearly not up to the job that was promised.A new [redacted] was assigned and the problems continued. On February **, the doors were again unlocked, the alarm not activated, and the bathrooms not cleaned well. I again sent an email to [redacted] and also [redacted] the [redacted] at Vanguard. On March **, 2014, the trash cans in the copy room were not emptied and were overflowing. On March **, 2014, the small conference room floor had not been cleaned. On another evening, we noted that the ladies room paper towels were not filled and the trash in the stalls were unemptied for several days. We were told to take care of it ourselves. That was unacceptable.On March **, 2014, we received an invoice for cleaning equipment that was supposed to be included in our contract. I spoke to [redacted], the [redacted]/Customer Service. She apologized and said she would amend the invoice. We never received a revised invoice. Once again, on March **, 2014, I emailed [redacted] and [redacted] that we were not satisfied with the cleaning service we were receiving from Vanguard and we were cancelling the contract as of March **, 2014. All keys were to be returned at the end of that day. On top of everything that has been described above, a number of times when architects here worked late, they noted that the cleaning crew was not at the office when they left at 9:30 or 10:00 p.m. By looking at our security video, we noted that they arrived after 12 and most days, did not vacuum every day and stayed no more than one hour on most nights. On March **, 2014, I took note of what supplies we had. On Monday morning, I noticed that boxes had been removed. These were boxes of paper towels and black trash bags. Vanguard removed the unopened boxes and left only the boxes that were opened, even though we were billed for these products. The videotape we have verifies this. The unopened boxes were removed in a black plastic bag. [redacted] had spoken numerous times to [redacted] or [redacted] regarding payment of any bills and getting revised bills, since the work promised had not been done. I also spoke to [redacted], the [redacted] of Vanguard and explained to him why we were cancelling the contract.To date, we have not received a corrected invoice or phone call or email regarding this problem. We have offered to pay a reduced sum for their services, but have received no answers or updated bills, until we received a collection letter.As you can see, we did not receive the service we contracted with Vanguard and feel that the fee they are requesting is excessive in light of all of the above. In addition, they only worked half of the month of March.Desired Settlement: We are willing to pay a portion of the fee and have indicated that to Vanguard several times. To date, we have received no response. We would be willing to pay half of what they claim we owe, even though their services were substandard and not the full 2 months that is claimed.
