Velasquez & Sons Mufflers & Brake Reviews (4)

I have used Velasquez for many repairs, and here is what I have learned to expect:
1. The repair work recommended is actually necessary. I have often had work that other chains suggested that Velasquez advises is not necessary, that it is "probably" something easier (and cheaper).
2. Velasquez has a MUCH smaller mark-up for parts than most repair facilities. On request, they will often allow you to bring in the parts for installation by them but then the warranty is substantially affected (only will warrant that it is installed properly, not parts and labor).
3. There is usually only one person who speaks English. The good news is that he is the President, and personally does the initial inspection and estimating. It is not unusual to see him working on cars - he knows what he is doing.
4. Often, the car is not finished at the time promised. While not unique in this arena, it is best to call before heading down at the appointed time. Still, if there will be a substantial delay (same day service will not be finished until next morning because of parts availability), they are very good about calling.
It is rare to find honest people who know how to fix the vehicles. The prices are very reasonable. I would not use anyone else in Kenosha.

Review: When company put my car on rack,to do brakes the put hole in undercarrage, the manager is aware and said to me no big deal, well I brought car to body shop and got 2 estimates and left car at body shop costing me 265.00...I then found owners number he has no reply, like I said the mechanic clearly knows what was done and said it was not a big deal...my car went in with no body damage and came out with damage....Desired Settlement: Just want thenm to pay for what they damaged...I dropped car off at the body shop which had th cheaper estimate

Review: On May 18th 2015, I took my lexus IS250 to Velasquez at 7623 West Hampton Ave to have tires install and balance. The process took nearly 2 hours and 4 mechanics to complete. When the tires are finally installed on the vehicle, I paid for the work and came home. On May 19th 2015, my tire sensor light up. I went back to Velasquez and told them of the problem. The mechanic look at it, test the tire pressure and told me its slight off. Which he release air on the LF tire, add air to the RF tire as well as LR/RL tires, then drove my vehicle around for 5 minutes then return and tries to reset the sensor again. The mechanic then finally told me that I need to go to the dealer. My sensor is malfunctioning. I told him, OK. I came home. When I got in my vehicle. I notice it drive differently with more tire noise. I stop at AutoZone at 5:49pm, bought a PSI gauge and check my tire pressure on AutoZone parking lot. The tire pressure on the Left Front is 65Psi, Right Front 48Psi, Left Rear 38psi Right Rear 40psi. I went back to Valasquez and ask to speak to the manager. I told him of the problem and request that the tires and rim be recheck for proper installation and work. The manager then told me, they are going to close and I can either leave my car at their shop or come back. I told him. I will come back the next day. I also told the manager of the PSI which is on my tires and ask if they are trying to kill me with those Psi. I get no replies, one mechanic stated out that my gauge is incorrect.

May 20th 2015, Afternoon, I went back to Velasquez. When I ask the receptionist for the manager. She told me that the manager is not in. I then told her that I am here to have my tires rework and recheck as per agreement with the manager. I told her that all 4 tires needs to be recheck, and rework because I am loosing 4Psi on all 4 tires overnight. She did not reply to my request. She just ask for my key and the mechanic took my car in, 10 minutes later. I went in and ask the mechanic directly that I am loosing 4psi and that the Psi they had on my car is incorrect (this is the same mechanic who looked at my car on May 19th and drove it for 5 minutes with the stated psi) and that I need to them to recheck all 4 tires. He replied, OK. then call another mechanic, who can't speak English. The mechanic pull 1 of my tires out, and put it on the balance machine and informed me that the rim is bent. I told him that it wasn't bent before I took my vehicle in for service and that they had damaged my rims but I will speak to the manager when he is in. The mechanic put the tires back without doing work on the rest of the tires. I was told they checked all the tires and there is no leak. When they pull the vehicle out, I drove home. When I get home. I check the tire pressure and found out that there are no work done on the rest of the tire because the Psi on Left Front 35, Right Front, 35, Left Rear 38, Right Rear 30.

May 21st, 2015. I called Velasquez and ask to speak to the manager. I was hang up on. I went to tires discount, in Waukesha, WI. to have replace the rim. I told the tech of my previous problem with Velasquez and that they should be careful when they remove my current tires onto the rims which cost me $600. Discount tires found out that 1 of my tire had been damage and install on my rim. I told them not to touch it and replace it with another brand new tire... which I had to walk to tires plus and purchase a brand new tire for them to install on the new rim. I then came home after installing the new rims and tires. On my way home I stop by Velasquez and bring the tire in and spoke with the manager. I told him that I have proof that his mechanic damage my tires and that they did poor work installing my tires which I had paid another professional to do the job and I want my refund back plus reimburse me for the damage tires. The manager then immediately told me that I said they damage my rims and that Discount tires damage the tire during removal process. I told the manager. I am not going to argue with him. I have proof, he either refund and reimburse me or I will see him in court. I walked out with the damage tire without resolution.Desired Settlement: I ask that the Velasquez reimburse me for the damage tires of $63.99 and the Service Charge of $100.00 and provide proof that their mechanic is certified within 14 business days.

Review: Took in a 2002 Chevy Malibu for a new Catalytic converter, which they replaced within 7 months the check engine came on again and the reading was for the catalytic converter again, so I returned to Velasque to inform them of the problem I was having again. The guy came out and said that they only warranty the converter for 6 months but staple to my receipt was the catalytic converter limited warrant registration by the US Enviromental protection agency that read " To meet EPA requirements all converters must be properly labeled to meet federal durability and safety standards. All new or aftermarket converters must carry a minimum five years/ 50,000 mile warranty and be warrented to maintain their full functionality in the vehical for at least 25,000 miles" aftering pointing this out to the guy he said I could pay for a new one why would I want to do that when the one I have is supposed to be under warranty I have not went 25,000 miles nor has it been 5 years. So I contact a rep from EPA that stated this converter should be warranty if new, I said it was new they put on my receipt 6 month warranty and will not honor the warranty staple to my receipt. So I called them again and informed them of out I learned from EPA the female that answered the phone stated I needed to speak to a manager but none was available and not sure when they would return, so I plan on filing complaints with the Revdex.com and EPA.Desired Settlement: I would like people to know how this business tries to defaud the public and be issued a refund, because I have to pass inspection and have gone somewhere else for the new catalytic converter the honors EPA warranty on such converters.
