Unauthorized taking away of OLD DOORS from a customer after putting in a NEW REPLACEMENT DOOR.[redacted]I went to [redacted] to buy a new replacement door for my front and newly created garage door.[redacted] agent set me up with VELOCITY CONTRACTING LTD. to install the said doors.Some time in the Fall, they initially installed the NEW front door after removing the OLD front door. OLD DOOR was in pretty good shape with no noted damage seated against my garage walls, witnessed by my brother and mother who were on site during the installation. After the installation, unknown to the owners, the service men from this company took this door and brought home with them fetch and carried on their truck.Complaints were brought up to the OWNER/CONTRACTOR which he initially was strongly dismissing but later agreed to replace it back with something of its kind but mentioned to wait until available. OWNER/CONTRACTOR was then offering one door to me but different kind because this door that's available swings/open differently from the original. I refused and patiently waited for another possible replacement which took months until a few days ago.OWNER/CONTRACTOR sent me text messages over phone stating "Discount settlement" after claiming that he doesn't have a replacement door of that same nature. I canvassed the price at [redacted] of same door tagged at ~$1300.00Cdn. OWNER/CONTRACTOR offered me $500.00 discount which I turned down. I was asking for $900.00 but he is bargaining to meet at $700.00 because apparently he did an extra work framing/fitting in my garage door. I turned down his offer because his pricing quote for 2 door jobs was made after he made a "thourough" assessment. I answered back " Sorry [redacted], u came ahead of time and assessed it and gave ur price. I agreed and I signed up. Except that I did not sign up for taking away my old doors. OWNER/CONTRACTOR texted back, " How will you be paying the balance. I need the a signed waiver and a payment ASAP. Another text came from OWNER/CONTRACTOR, "Draft change order for [redacted] for 900 less. I need a waiver and payment info. [redacted]Desired SettlementDoor replacement or equivalent that was taken away from my house without my permission.Business Response Included in every [redacted] installation services contract pricing, is the removal and disposal of the customer's old product. The customer may not have been made aware of this, and the service provider was not made aware of the fact that the customer did not want his old door removed and disposed of. At the time of installation, the frame of the old door came out in pieces as is the case with many installation applications, and was not salvageable. Once it was made clear to Velocity that the customer did not want his old door removed and disposed of, the slab was returned to the customer. Before receiving this complaint through the Revdex.com, Velocity made arrangements with the customer to credit his contract amount by 1320.00 after tax. Velocity is awaiting the customer to sign off on this credit and return to us for processing in order to conclude his contract. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The OWNER/CONTRACTOR [redacted] was not on site when the door was taken out. There were 2 witnesses onsite when the doors and frame came out which were completely intact. [redacted] no product nor unit should be taken out from the owner's vicinity without their permission. It is clearly evident from the [redacted] INSTALLATION SERVICES contract that there was no mention of disposal of goods in good condition resulting from the installation.[redacted] All I want is the door/frame to be recovered for my other project. It took them ~3 long months in search for a replacement until he started bargaining for a settlement with me.[redacted]I have settled to agree accepting a $1320.00 replacement to cut things short but I am not amenable to him saying that the door was in pieces after removal. [redacted]There is nothing in the contract about taking away old doors/frame in good shape. [redacted]
