The reason why I had [redacted] over was to get additional work done if he admitted that the problem with the worked performed wasn't up to par.
The water pooling wasn't an issue before the job was given to You [redacted] and as a result the water pooled after your work was performed creating an unsafe condition as it froze over in winter therefore salt was needed and it wasn't rock salt [redacted]
if your not willing to repair your work then I feel some compensation should be afforded us so we can apply it towards another contractor that can get it corrected.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because
after the initial repair all was well but water pooling wasn't an issue prior to the repair after the repair I was wanting a quote for additional work and for [redacted] to correct the pooling situation while he was onsite doing other work I would have given him if he was interested but he never returned my calls or follow up with me for the quote I wanted.
As for the salt issue yes I had to as it was an unsafe condition as an elderly woman lives here.
ive had that stoop since 2001 never needed to use salt prior to repair but didn't need to [redacted] as there wasn't water pooling.
if your not willing to stand behind your work then I will have to seek somone else to repair it and the replace the pointing once again as that's now coming apart.
im not one for being a pain but when I have an unsafe condition and no returned calls one has to take alternative measures.

I am both surprised and confused by [redacted]'s complaint. In 2013 I repaired [redacted]s stoop, as well as a few other minor masonry repairs around his property for a total of $450.00. During this stoop repair, I did not change the structure of the existing stoop. Nor did I remove, reset or...

replace any of the bricks or bluestones. I merely repaired the damaged joints. Therefore, the repairs I made would not cause "pooling" of water after a rain. If there is pooling now, there was pooling prior to my repairs. I did instruct [redacted] not to apply salt products to the stoop. [redacted] did call me again in the Spring of 2014 and stated that since I did such a good job on the stoop, he would like me to do some additional masonry work. After assessing the amount & type of work requested, I concluded that is was more than I could handle at the time. I was still recovering from extensive shoulder surgery & was limited in what I could do. Since I am the sole operator of my business (I have no crew), I could not quote on this new work. I may not have communicated this to [redacted], for which I apologize. I do not feel obligated to refund the $450 since the stoop repair constituted only a portion of this amount and more importantly, because [redacted] applied a corrosive product to my repairs thereby causing any new damage. Please note that at no time did [redacted] contact me & ask me to fix any new damage to the stoop. The only call I received was to look at additional work.

I have been in business for over 25 years and have an excellent service record because I do stand by my work. If a customer has a problem, they call me and I remedy the situation. [redacted] filed a complaint instead.
When [redacted] asked me to look at additional work and I did not provide a quote, I understand his disappointment. I should have explained my medical reason for not submitting the quote. What I don't understand is why he was willing to give me more work if he was truly unhappy with the stoop repairs.
Water pooling can not be a result of the repairs I performed on the stoop. As I stated in my first response, I did not replace, reset or remove any of the existing stones or bricks. I simply repairs the damaged joints. In extremely cold weather, water will freeze on any flat surface. It seems that [redacted] had water running off his roof or over his gutters and froze on the stoop. Applying a salt melting product is very corrosive to the cement joints. Since I advised [redacted] not to use salt on the stoop and he proceeded to do so anyway, I am not responsible for any new damages caused by a salt product. Applying sand to ice is a safe alternative against both slipping and corrosion.
[redacted] stated that he does not want me to attempt repairs again and wants me to refund my $450.00 fee. For the reasons I stated in my first response and above, I am not responsible for his new salt created damages and, therefore, unwilling to refund my fee.

Review: [redacted] Repaired My stoop a year ago @ $450.00After the repair and after a rain the water would pool up on the top of the stoop by the entrance to the house and when the weather was below 32 degrees it would ice up creating an unsafe condition. The rejointing of the bricks and bluestone is coming up and [redacted] did come by in the spring to inspect it and said did you use salt I said I did because of the water build up created an unsafe condition when it froze. He said I'll get back to you.................I'm still waiting [redacted] ?????Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of $450.00 as I won't want him to attempt to repair it again. In all fairness to [redacted], he was very nice and understanding prior to job that's why we went along with him.I just don't understand why he can't accept the fact that his crew screwed up.[redacted], everyone makes mistakes...............
