Venmo does not have same protections you get from PayPal, no matter where you read it does, someone got family info from Facebook and Twitter and told me family member had gotten a ticket, I sent them money on this app they requested to get her out of jail, never send money to someone you don’t know personally with this app, as I found out today, talked to my cousin, no ticket, no jail, it was a scam, Venmo will do nothing, junk app

I had looked online before using this app, and it said it was connected to PayPal where I have had an account for years, but I got scammed, never pay someone you do not know personally if if they tell you they are with a relative, they had my cousins name, where they where in school together, and said she had gotten a ticket, asked me to handle it on. Venmo, if you do not know the person,, they can get info off Twitter, Facebook ect, that’s exactly how they coned me , I callled Venmo, they said nothing they can do , once the money is sent, it’s gone, so there are no PayPal protections no matter where you read that they do

I attempted to transfer $1200 to a friend. Their account as well as mine's were frozen until I'd was presented. We both forwarded our identification. Yet, my account was frozen permanently. At first there was a dispute with the payment source on my end about it being unauthorized. An investigation with the bank followed and the funds were frozen until the investigation had been sorted out. I notified the bank that I wanted all investigations to stop and for the transaction to go through. They agreed. I've been contacting Venmo to see if they have received the funds and if they have released them to the other person. They last wrote to me is that they have suspended my account permanently and they will no longer respond to anything else I write. I just wanted either for the funds to go through to the other person or to be returned to me. I have contacted an attorney since they choose to ignore my correspondence.

Review: Been trying to contact someone at Venmo for TWO WEEKS via email, Facebook and through the app. Never gotten a response. I attempted to transfer my balance of $300 to my bank and it was cancelled automatically and my news feed says that the money was returned to my balance. It still hasn't been. I don't known what else to do and I need that money desperately! Awful experience and I'll never use this service again and neither will anyone I know.Desired Settlement: I would like to know where my $300 is! I need that money!

Review: I set up my Venmo Account, verified my Bank Information and when I went to send a friend a transaction my account was frozen. I Emailed support as directed, since they do not have any phone number for customer service, it has been 2 days and I have yet to hear anything back from customer support on why my account has been frozen. I have sent numerous emails and still nothing gets back to me. This is terrible customer servicesDesired Settlement: I would like to know why my account is frozen at this point, with this type of customer service I do not want to associate myself with a company that does not value their customers. But an explanation on to why is what I want

Review: On May **, 2015, I signed up for a Venmo account and provided all correct, necessary information. After signing up, a friend of mine sent a payment to me. Because the account was all set up, I "cashed-out" my payment and received a transfer number, in addition to a confirmation email that everything was successful. On May **, I received email confirmation that my bank account had been properly verified. For some unknown and unexplained reason, my account was also frozen on May **. I received the email asking for additional information for security purposes-I provided all of the requested information the same day. Having no customer service phone number, I received an auto-reply from Venmo saying that my information was received, and they would get back to me within 48 hours. I did not end up hearing from the until May [redacted]. I want to point out that the transactor (my friend) that sent me the money, also had their account frozen(maybe a day after mine was, and he sent venmo the requested information the same day he heard from them). On May [redacted], Venmo replied saying my requested info was accepted and that my account was "now accessible." They mentioned nothing about the money I was waiting for. I had to send them another reply on May [redacted] asking when I would receive my money. I never received the auto-reply saying they would get back. I waited to see if I would hear from them. Please keep in mind that my friend that sent payment, had also been attempting to contact Venmo this whole time my ordeal is occurring. By June *, 2015, I still had not heard from Venmo. I opened up a new case through their support line on their website (same day). I received the auto-reply stating that they would get back to me within 48 hours. I HEARD NOTHING FROM VENMO!!!!! By June *, after realizing what kind of company I was dealing with, I began to look for a phone number. They have no number listed to directly speak to a rep.( I think it is obnoxious that they can't even take the time to call me after a case has been open longer than 1 week) I did some digging and found a phone number on their "legal disclosures" page. ([redacted]) As soon as I called, the call when directly to voicemail and asked for my account information so that they could get back to me "immediately." SURPRISINGLY, later that day (june *) I received a response to my email from June * from [redacted]. She claimed they were still waiting for the requested info from my transactor, and that I should get in touch with him to have him respond to venmo's communications. As I stated before, the transactor (my best friend) had received an email from venmo about the additional information around the time that I did. He sent it to them the same day that the request was received. Two days after he sent it, he checked with them to see if they received it, and he never heard back from them. As of June *, 2015, the transactor had not heard from Venmo after two attempts of trying to reach them and provide the necessary information. He even tried calling the phone number that I used above. June * is the last time that I've heard from Venmo/[redacted]. I attempted to call venmo later on the same day(june *). I still had not heard back from them by June [redacted] (for June * call), so I called two more times. The two messages that I left on June [redacted] were not returned as of June [redacted] I made a 4th call on June [redacted], did not hear from them. It is now June [redacted], I found a different number here on Revdex.com website that actually rang. An automated message stated that all reps were busy. I called about 5 times to see if I could actually get a rep, but realized that the automated message will always play no matter what. . They don't actually have reps on the line. I left them a voicemail but am sure they will just ignore that as well.Desired Settlement: I want to be contacted by phone by the business. I am tired of dealing with email. If they do email, then I want a direct email to a rep. No more of the support email and waiting 48 hours before I hear from somebody. I want them to STOP ignoring my inquiries. I just want my money back!!!!!!! Believe me, I won't ever deal with you guys again!!! Just pay up!! Either refund my money, or deposit what I "cashed out." I also want the lies to stop! I know the transactor) my friend has submitted everything the same way I did. We are not ignorant people you can take advantage of. We have everything on record. We have all emails and calls saved. Learn how to run a business!

Review: Hello, I just starting venom, I had somebody send me money $2,900.00 I received the funds, and I went along and transferred them into my bank account, it was only suppose to take one business day this is the second business day, and still no funds. I contacted them multiple times they contacted me once, I have everything documented, I have the transfer number [redacted]. They have no phone number, you need to wait 48 hours for them to contact you, lucky for me I did not have to wait that long. I am super disappointed in this company. I hate writing these complaints because one its taking up my time and two I like to give the company to explain them selves. If I do not receive my money I will be taking legal, action, and I will be talking to the Ny state attorney. There is no reason why I should have not received my money. I hope we all can solve this in a cvill matter without involving 3rd parties.Desired Settlement: I want my $2,900.00 to be in my bank account, I will not take nothing less.

[redacted]Venmo LLC (“Venmo”) is in

receipt of Jeff G H[redacted] (“[redacted]”) complaint received via the Revdex.com dated 11/**/2015

regarding his complaint regarding his issues with the Billing or Collection Issues. Please find our response to his

concerns below as well as background on Venmo. Venmo is a domestic

person-to-person payments service that allows individual Venmo users to send or

request payment from each other using mobile or website applications. Payments

may be funded with a credit or debit card, a bank account or a Venmo balance. Venmo makes funds available instantly to Venmo recipients. These actions are only processed by Venmo, based on

the initial request made by a Venmo user and if funds are available from the

funding method in question for that Venmo account. Venmo prefunds payments

initiated, however in the event that the funds are not received from the payees

designated financial institution, Venmo will reverse the payment from the

recipient to prevent a loss to Venmo. As the complaint states, [redacted] claims he received $2,900.00 the funds to what appears to be an unknown third party

to [redacted]. Records show that several Venmo accounts were created by [redacted], which is in violation of the Venmo User Agreement. Furthermore, the

account tied to the personal information provided within this complaint

supports that the account is indebted $1,800.00 for two payments initiated by

[redacted] on 10/**/2015. Venmo records show that Venmo prefunded the payment

initiated on 10/**/2015 for the total amount of $1,800.00, and that Venmo

subsequently received notification from the payee's bank that this payment was

failed due to insufficient funds. Venmo has made repeated, however unsuccessful

recovery attempts to address this $1,800.00 loss in funds. On 11/**/2015, [redacted]

created an account with the name “[redacted]” This account is linked to the transaction

referenced within this complaint. A review of this payment, resulted in Venmo

identifying that [redacted] had created multiple accounts on Venmo and appeared

to do so to avoid making payment on the $1,800.00 in losses incurred on the

original account referenced. Due to this, Venmo did not

allow [redacted] to receive the payment and has chosen to reverse the payment

back to the original funding instrument. [redacted] respective

Venmo accounts are currently restricted due to this loss for $1,800.00.Venmo

maintains that it is not liable for [redacted] violation of the Venmo Terms of

Service, which did result in the loss referenced to Venmo. Based on this, Venmo

will not be honoring [redacted] request for the $2,900.00 he feels is owed

to him and the current restrictions will remain on [redacted] account until

the recovery efforts on the loss incurred to Venmo is successful. Regards,Venmo

Review: Yes my friend was sending me money using the Venmo app and in the process of transferring the money to my bank account Venmo froze my account . So I message the help department asking why my account was frozen and u recieved some computer generated response. It took them two days to tell me my account needed further investigation. Been checking email no reply and also through the message center through app no reply this is ridiculous. I check the Accounts and transactions and see this:

There is not a phone number to contact Venmo. I have lost over $900 and I cannot get a response from the company. I have tried every avenue possible to keep the transfer from happening with no luck. The emails I sent to Venom were while the transactions were pending and they could have prevented the transfer. This company has not protected my account. I contacted them within the 2 business day period with no luck. I think any company who does not have any contact phone numbers must be fraudulent. I am very upset with this company.Desired Settlement: I would like all of my funds back and the theif apprehended and charged . Review: On September **, 2014, I received 2 payments from another Venmo user. The other user sent me confirmation numbers that both transactions had gone through, but I had only received one of the amounts on my Venmo account. I contacted customer service which told me Venmo had a performance issue and it should be normal now, but my account wasn't fixed. They said the engineers would be about to look at it monday, and I should see the $2500 payment in my account then. Well, Monday comes, and goes, and nothing, after exchanging multiple emails for days. On October *, 2004, I receive an email saying they are working on it and the money should be in my balance the next day, which it is not. Finally, on the [redacted] I am alerted the funds are available. I go on my account and see the funds, which I attempt to "cash out". The transaction was expected to arrive in my bank account October [redacted], but it never came. I emailed Venmo 3 times as well as tweeting customer service, asking where the money was. October **, I am notified they had to send the payment back. Venmo did not alert me of anything, I had the money in my Venmo account and they just took it back without alerting me. I spotted someone who I thought was a friend money, because the money was sent to me on Venmo, and there were confirmations, and then the money was just taken away from my account, and now I am out a lot of money. Venmo helps people commit fraud by supplying them with confirmation numbers, I thought this was a legitimate way to receive money, but apparently it is not. Venmo asked me to ask the sender for the money again 16 days after the payment was sent, and the sender did not believe me when I previously told them I had no received it, because they received an email from Venmo saying the transaction was completed.Desired Settlement: The $2500 that was taken out of my account to be refunded.

Venmo LLC (“Venmo”) is in receipt of [redacted]’s (“[redacted]”) complaint received via the Revdex.com dated 10/**/2014 regarding her complaint regarding his issues with the Venmo Terms of Service. Please find our response to her concerns below.

Upon further review of the Revdex.com complaint letter received for [redacted], she claims that Venmo is means for committing fraud.

Venmo is a P2P payments service that allows its users to send or request payments via text or email to other individuals, and is designed for payments between friends and people who trust each other. These actions are only processed by Venmo, based on the initial request made by a Venmo user and if funds are available from the funding method in question for that Venmo account. Venmo records show that due to a processing error, funds from both transactions were not received by Venmo. As Venmo prefunded these payments, [redacted] was successfully able to cashout $250.00 in funds at Venmo’s loss. Venmo did reverse the reference $2,500.00 from [redacted] due to the non-receipt of funds caused by the processing error. Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

The sender of the funds sent me confirmation numbers saying the transactions were completed and I believed that the were as venmo supplied confirmation numbers. I gave the other venmo member cash in exchange for funds on venmo because I believes it was a safe way to send and receive money. After exchanging several emails with Venmo the $2500 showed in my account and I "cashed out", but the funds never arrived at the bank. If venmo hadn't supplied confirmations and showed the money in my account I wouldn't be suffering this loss. Venmo never even alerted me the funds weren't going to go through, I waited about 5 days and sent several emails and tweets before I finally got any response whatsoever. If venmo wasn't able to receive the funds they should have never let the money show in my account with the option of cashing out.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Hi this is my 2nd email about the same complaint because it has been a day and I have still have not gotten a response from customer service. My problem is that I attempted to transfer the amount $1009.00 to my bank account and it was canceled for some unknown reason. According to the venmo app it said the bank transfer was canceled and the $1009.00 was returned to my venmo balance however it has been 2 days now and my balance remains at $0.00 so I am wondering where my money has went and why this has happened.Desired Settlement: I would like my bank transfer to be deposited in my bank account if not returned to my venmo balance. I also want an explanation as to why this happened.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Venmo Inc. regarding complaint ID [redacted].Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: My brother transferred 2,999.00 from his bank account into his Venmo account, and then to my Venmo account. I then transferred the 2,999.00 from my Venmo account to my bank account on Friday August [redacted]. According to Venmo, the transfer was set to be completed on Monday August [redacted]. It's August [redacted], and the money is in neither my bank, or Venmo accounts.

I first contacted Venmo on August [redacted] asking what the problem was. Venmo responded the next day saying that they had sent an email on the [redacted] with directions. I replied to that email, saying that I had not received any correspondence. They replied the next day saying that I should check my spam folder. I replied on August [redacted], that I had already done that, and to please resend the correspondence. I have not received a response. The money should have made it to my account on the [redacted]. Obviously, my brother and I would have been much better of to have just snail mailed a check which would have arrived on the [redacted] (we live in the same area), and then deposited the check into my account on the [redacted]. I foolishly wrote a check, thinking that the money would be in my account to cover it, and so received my first overdraft fee.Desired Settlement: I would like for Venmo to transfer my money into my bank account immediately, pay my 35.00 overdraft fee, and have this complaint serve as a warning to others who may think that Venmo is an efficient way to transfer money between parties.

Thanks so much, [redacted]

Review: September **, 2015: Megan from Venmo Support emailed me saying that my bank account had been released from my old account because, forgetting I had previously made an account years prior, I had mistakenly created a new personal account using my college email address. I used the same phone number, and my real name for both accounts and was never intentionally trying to have two personal accounts. I realized that I technically violated the customer terms and agreements section B. 1. b. by having two personal accounts, which is why I specifically requested the account attached with my college email address and released bank account to be my primary and singular active account, and that the original account would be deleted. I never used my original account, and was under the impression that the account had been deleted upon confirmation of the email I received.

Fast forward to March *, 2016: I receive an email from my old account saying the account had been frozen. Additionally, I had a transfer cancelled on my new account (attached to my college email address) of $2,300 from a friend to help them in their musical pursuits of repairing their vintage instrument. I was not selling goods/merchandise, and I was not using my personal account as a "business account," as Venmo reportedly claims many users do. I notified Venmo immediately, but was told my account was in review, and heard nothing further after various attempts to email and chat with support representatives.

I am highly upset that there was no email notification of the reversal of transfer, confused why the old account was still active and now "frozen" even though both accounts were linked to my same phone number, and frustrated that Venmo support just "transfers me to another department" and no one ever has a solution. I understand this business has the right to reverse funds if the payer has insufficient funds or the money doesn't go through on the buyer end, but my friend said they saw the money withdrawn from their account—money that I no longer have access to. I don't see how the company can hold money from both parties without warrant, explanation, or notification. I feel misled because my app informed me that although the "bank transfer had been cancelled," the "$2,300 was returned to my Venmo balance." There is $0.00 in my Venmo balance...Desired Settlement: Delivery credit of $2,300 transferred to my active Venmo account balance. Deletion of my old, frozen account that isn't attached to any bank account and hasn't been used.

Review: I used the venmo app to receive money for an item I sold. I was sent the money transaction through venmo on January [redacted] 2016. I received a notification stating the money was in my venmo account and that the next step was to transfer it to my bank account in which I did. I received a notification stating the money would arrive in my bank account on January [redacted] 2016. On january [redacted] 2016 I received an alert stating that venmo has frozen my venmo account and that my money has been returned to my venmo account and unable to be transferred to my bank account. They stated the money would show up in my venmo account after 5 business days. I emailed venmo to ask why they froze my account and they responded saying another venmo team has to review my case. I have continuously emailed them and the only other response I received stated I should delete my bank account and add another. I tried to do that but was unable to due to the fact my venmo account was still frozen. They have not contacted my another further even after I stated I wanted an explanation being they would not give the money back to me. I also asked to speak to corporate but they didn't respond to that either.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive the money into my bank account

[redacted] I am writing on behalf of [redacted]. in response to your complaint regarding [redacted]’s Venmo product. Your complaint states that you received a $2,000.00 payment via Venmo on January *, 2016 for an item you sold, and initiated a withdrawal to your Bank Account on the same day. You state that these funds have not been released to you. Description of Relief At the outset, it is important to note that on January **, 2016, we reversed the $2,000.00 USD back to the sender’s original payment instrument. Response On January *, 2016, you created a Venmo account (“Account”), at which time you agreed to the Venmo user agreement (“User Agreement”). On the same day, you added your [redacted] (“Bank Account”) to your Venmo Account to be used for payments and withdrawals. On January *, 2016, you received a $2,000.00 payment from your sender (“Sender”). On that same day, you initiated a withdrawal of these funds to your Bank Account. As the complaint confirms, [redacted] participated in prohibited activity by conducting non-approved business activity on Venmo.Venmo does not permit merchants to make sales via Venmo, nor do we offer buyer or seller protection. Business usage of Venmo requires an application and explicit authorization, for which [redacted] did not have. As such, there are no channels available for Venmo to reimburse loss incurred due to violations of our User Agreement and participation - intentional or otherwise - in fraudulent activities. For more information, please see section B.1(b) of the Venmo User Agreement. Venmo records support that the funds related to the payment received by [redacted] raised multiple security flags that resulted in her transfer being held. Based on our review, we determined that [redacted] had engaged in one or more restricted activities under the Venmo User Agreement including conducting non-approved business activity on Venmo, sending or receiving what we reasonably believe to be potentially fraudulent funds with an account associated that has engaged in restricted activities, and participating in a payment that may result in reversals. As a result, we cancelled the withdrawal to [redacted]’s bank account and reversed the $2,000.00 to the Sender’s original payment instrument as permitted under Section D.15(b) of the User Agreement. Venmo recommends that [redacted] follow up with her customer and regrets that we can no longer offer her the Venmo service. Explanation of Closure Venmo’s actions in this matter were taken in good faith and within the terms set forth in the User Agreement as a reasonable measure to maintain the security of the Venmo system. We had a reasonable basis for holding the withdrawal for further review. As the funds have been reversed back to your Sender’s original payment instrument, we consider this matter resolved. We offer our sincerest apologies for any difficulties you may have encountered while using our services. Please feel free to contact [redacted]’s Executive Escalations Office at [redacted], should you have any questions or concerns, or if I can be of further assistance to you. Very sincerely yours, Kellie L[redacted] Executive Escalations [redacted].

Review: I received money to pay my hospital bill and when I tried to send it to my bank account it was frozen and they're not responding to my requests after five days to have it returned to my account. Review: On July [redacted] I sold a computer to Roslyn G[redacted] for $1450. We met up and she paid me via Venmo. I immediately transfer $1490 (the funds and another $40 balance) to my bank account. It stated that it would be deposited the next day. Roslyn later asked me to help her buy four iPhones from the [redacted] and she sent the payment for them via Venmo as well. Because of the $3000 weekly limit, she had her girlfriend Gaby G** send the rest of the amount. The total for the iPhone purchases were $4289.98. The next morning the funds were not deposited into my bank account, nor were they in my Venmo balance. It also appeared that my account was frozen. I sent the first email on July [redacted] which stated:

Hi Venmo,

I found out my account was frozen after a friend tried to pay me and couldn't. I tried to send money to someone else to see if I could confirm a problem, and I got an error message saying my account is frozen.

Not sure what’s going on, but it would be great to find out and do whatever needs to be done to unfreeze my account!

Many thanks.

They stated that it takes there team up to 48h to respond, so I wait patiently. On July [redacted] I send a second email:

Hi Venmo,

So this morning two things happened. At 7:15am, it stated that one of the bank transfers ($3000) has been cancelled. It stated that it was reversed back into my Venom balance. When I checked the Venom balance it showed $260.01. Then at 8:26a, I checked again and now it said all four transfers has been cancelled ($1490, $3000, $1100 and $189.98), and the Venmo balance is $40. As you know this is a lot of money being held, and I need the funds to pay off the credit cards that were used to fund the items I help buy.

I went to [redacted] and they said there was no attempt to put money into the bank account.

I have been with Venmo since October of 2013, and have been a huge promoter of your service. I have had friends complain about the lack of customer service that you offer, in which I joke "then don't make mistakes" (so you don't need to contact them).

As of now my account is frozen and I need to use it to collect and pay rent to my landlord. You can imagine how inconvenient this is.

Please reply or give me a call to get this sorted out. I don't want this to have to wait till after the weekend. I know a phone call is not avail, so I am considering coming down to your office tomorrow if that helps my case.

Thanks so much.

Still no response. On July [redacted] I send my third email:

Hi Venmo,

So today is day 7 from the issue that I have been having. I have heard it takes about a week to get a response from you. Please let me know if you have any update on this. I await your reply.

On July [redacted] I discover and contacted [redacted] on [redacted]:

I emailed you over a week ago regarding funds transferred to my bank account and it appears theyre reversed and gone. Help!

I received a generic response:

Thanks for reaching out & sorry for any delay. [redacted].

I replied:

Thank you for your reply. [redacted] I look forward to your response.

On July [redacted] I attempted to contact them again on [redacted]:

it's been 8 days, 3 emails and two tweets still no response. Can I please get some assistance? Rent is due!

I am now opening a case with Revdex.com in hopes of getting a response.Desired Settlement: I would like the funds to be deposited into my bank account as the end of the month is near and I use Venmo to pay rent. I would also like an explanation of why I was not contacted back for almost two weeks and that I need to go through Revdex.com for assistance. I know I am not the only one with Venmo woes. Please contact me as soon as possible with my funds.
