Verano Townhome Rentals Reviews (6)

I am here to write an honest review of Verano Townhomes in hopes of assisting someone who is looking for a good place to call home.
I signed a lease in August of 2014 and have to say that I wanted out by September 2014. Everything from the move in to the maintenance and office staff was pathetic and offensive and all these horrible reviews were proving truthful rather than spiteful... HOWEVER, I stuck it out because who wants to move 2 months in a row? AND, I am an optimist, so I had faith things would change. They did...they got worse before they got better, but finally around January or February 2015, we got a new manager who was overseeing the maintenance and complaints. I began to see a very positive change in the maintenance... My work orders were being addressed promptly and whenever I acknowledged an unacceptable issue or circumstance, this new manager accepted full responsibility, proposed a solution, and followed up after the issue had been addressed....which is an absolute FIRST since the beginning of my lease. I wish I could mention her name because she has been wonderful.
During this time though, they were still trying to find a suitable OFFICE manager...Conam has assigned this property to at least 4 managers. To me, this says that they LISTEN to their residents AND are TRYING to make this a better place. They have A LOT of cleanup from the previous owner\property management, so you have to have realistic expectations. This will not be Mark Taylor quality rental property immediately, but I can tell they are headed in the right direction. The CURRENT office and Maintenance staff (7/2015) are kind, courteous, professional, punctual, and down to earth.
This staff has gotten control of the non-resident property abuse and free walking weed smoking and are enforcing much stricter, but acceptable, guidelines for pool use and parking which is ensuring the residents are actually able to enjoy the amenities...which is also a first.
So, with that being said...and this is not an all inclusive review, this is a good place to call home. My suggestion though, have realistic expectations and understand this property is undergoing a transition for the better. Conam does pay attention to reported issues. Remain positive even if you encounter an issue and be polite to the office staff....I have had many issues, which have ALL been resolved, but can say I have always kept it professional and because of that, I feel I am well respected and welll taken care of in this community. I just renewed my lease for another year (switched floorplans) and received my FULL security deposit less my last water bill in about a week and a half.

DO NOT MOVE HERE! So the first year I was here it was okay, other than being very over priced. They tried to move us into a apartment that had water damage. After talking them into putting us into a better apartment it has been nothing but maintenance problem after problem. From A/C unit leaks and failures, loose cabinets and fridge screws, old washing machines, horrible plumbing, cheap carpet, and horrible management. I only decided to move here because of the location being next door to the high school. But for $1375 a month on top of a $130 water bill that is ridiculous it really wasn't worth it. Management and maintenance failed to fix numerous of work orders put in and resulted in pipes bursting and flooding my townhome. Management has no compassion for tenants and are true slum lords, all they care about is getting their rent. Janae that works in the front office is very rude and a liar. We were out of a pool, fitness room, and office for almost a year and not once did they compensate tenants but instead went up on everyone's rent. The company that owns Verano, [redacted] is just as terrible when it comes to customer service. I have stayed in worse area's in south Phoenix with Roaches and had better experiences than I have had here. I have had things stolen, and maintenance even went as low as drinking a whole case of water out my fridge while doing repairs. They lied and said to us when we moved in Pit Bulls were not allowed but I see many tenants with huge dogs as well as pit bulls. We were out our place for a month and repairs still were not completed and now staff won't even talk to us they make us deal with a Lawyer that is just as rude. I would not advise anyone to move here, it has been a nightmare and not worth the money at all. June can not come fast enough for me to move out.

I have lived here for the past 4 years. I used to love it here. Here are the challenges we deal with everyday.
1. Advertised as a gated community. There is a gate however it hasn't worked for a very long time.
The office always says it's being taken care of. NOT!
2.LIGHTS AROUND THE WALKWAYS HAVE BEEN OUT. EVEN AFTER I REPEDETLY TALK TO THE OFFICE.
THEY SAY TEY ARE TAKING CARE OF IT. NEVER GETS DONE.
3. UNRULY TENANTS
4. GARBAGE LEFT OUT INFRON OF APARTMENTS ESPECIALLY ONE THAT JUST MOBED IN AND THEIR PILES OF TRASH ARE SITTING INFRONT OF THEIR TOWNHOME FOR ALL TO SEE. SMH
WE PAY GOOD MONEY TO LIVE HERE AND DESERVE TO HAVE THESE THINGS TAKEN CARE OF PROMPTLY.
5.NEEDS SOME RENOVATION. PAINT ETC.
6. BACK TO THE NO LIGHT THING... BE CAREFUL AT NIGHT . JAVALINAS GO OIT TO EAT IN THE TRASH BINS AND THEY CAN BE AGGRESSIVE IF STARTLED.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR ASK ABOUT THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU MOVE IN.
BTW PAST MANAGEMENT ASKED ME TO WRITE A POSITIVE REVIEW LAST YEAR.

Do not move here. There is tons of problems here. Maintanace requests take about a month to get assigned and that's only after you have to complain about 6 times. Sometimes it still doesn't get done. the front office is a trip as well. There are tons of rat problems where as rats will per and poo all over your items. Storage rooms on the balcony is where they lurk and also inside the units. Make them put it in writing that there is not a rat problem in half the units . There are tons and tons of rats. They are aware of this and will say its common in Phoenix. I lived in this area for over 10 years and never heard of that problem till I moved here. I even lived in cheaper apartments and never had bugs either. Cockroaches are bad here too
