Veritas Contracting

Review: I hired Veritas Contracting (heretofore VC) to perform the remodeling of two bathrooms in a single-family home. Per the signed contract between VC and myself the set maximum cost for the renovation was $7,000. This included labor and materials. In regard to the latter, materials were to be purchased by VC and reimbursed by client based on actual receipts and invoices. VC made purchases for $3,871.98 of which 366.80 was not supported by receipts/invoices. Further, through close inspection of PDF copies of receipts VC emailed me, I uncover that VC bought two of the same materials at 2 different stores, though they only required and installed one faucet. VC indicated that by mistake they did not credit my account and would refund me. However, they did not provide clarification regarding the unsupported amount nor did they submit original documentation. Additionally VC made a return to the Tile Shop for the excess tiles purchased, but when the amount to be credited seemed very low, I requested the receipt for the return, which was ignored the request and instead only provided me with copy of an online banking activity showing 2 deposits from the [redacted].Ever since 1/25/14, many emails have been going back and forth between myself and VC as I have tried to: 1)obtain clarification of unsupported charges, 2)have them sent me the original invoices of all purchases and returns, 3)provide me with a signed itemized invoice. To this date none of these 3 items have been satisfied. VC has consistently avoided to provide any clarification, until 2/18/14 when VC denied my request to provide original invoices arguing that, I quote, "unfortunately we cannot give you the original receipts due to tax purposes," resent PDF me copies of the documentation and indicated that reimbursement was to be mailed within the next 24 hours, which to this date I have not received it nor have I received the signed invoice. I'd like to receive the original documentation to be able to accurately calculate the amount VC owes me.Desired Settlement: The intention of this petition, based on the above information, is to seek your help in requesting VC to provide me with all original documentation related to the purchases and returns for the remodeling of the 2 bathrooms and to receive reimbursement of the amount VC overcharged, which I estimate is approximately $640 including the unsupported amount and the returns.Please do not hesitate to let me know what supporting documentation I can provide to you so as to help this petition.
