Verragio Diamond Reviews (4)

Verragio stands by our analysis that this is NOT a manufacturer's defect.  We cannot guarantee that the engagement ring and wedding band were always worn together and never separated, so we cannot use the condition of the wedding band as a proper comparison.  The recast charge of $600 was the WHOLESALE cost of having this ring remade.  The Verragio retailer decided to pass that option along to the client without marking it up whatsoever at the retail level.  This was not an admission of guilt, but rather our standard charge to our retail partner that was passed along to the consumer.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Although we do not agree with the assessment given by Verragio, we are going to go ahead and pay the $600 to have the ring re-casted and warrantied (for what it is worth), as my wife has now been without her engagement ring for three months. The damage to the ring was most certainly caused by either a manufacturer’s defect or design flaw, as the ring has been meticulously cared for, inspected regularly, and only been subject to normal wear and tear. As stated in the initial complaint, the ring was worn on the same finger as my wife’s wedding band since the date of our marriage. We have photos taken on our wedding day to show that the ring was in good condition, and not misshapen on that date. The wedding band worn by my wife would bear the same damage if it had been subject to “abuse” and/or extreme blunt force as suggested by the retailer. Attached are pictures of the much thinner wedding band to support our claim. Verragio claims to stand by their craftsmanship and quality of not only their pieces, but also their customer service and warranties. In an attempt to handle this situation with Verragio, as mentioned in the initial complaint, we first contacted Verragio on May [redacted], 2016, and responded, via our local authorized dealer, that the proposed solution was not acceptable, detailed the reasons as to why, and asked for other possible solutions. We did not receive a response from Verragio until June [redacted], and this was only after we attempted to contact Verragio on three separate occasions. On June [redacted], 21 days after the initial response to Verragio, we were sent an email, stating very matter-of-factly that we had still only two options, with no explanation. In this email exchange, we were told to handle the matter anyway we felt necessary, and that Verragio would only offer the same solutions. Not once did a Verragio representative call us on the phone to discuss our options. If the damage to the ring was caused by “abuse”, then why would Verragio offer to reshape and recast the ring at half price? Why would any concessions be made to repair a ring that was abused and not damaged by any type of manufacturer’s defect? The situation is not akin to buying a vehicle, driving it off the lot, running into a tree, and expecting the car to be covered under warranty. The situation is akin to purchasing a new car with a bumper to bumper lifetime warranty, having a defective manufactured part of the vehicle covered under the warranty, and having the dealership refuse to cover the faulty part. Buyers beware of the stipulations of the warranty, and consider other options when purchasing your engagement rings!

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

This ring went through both our quality control inspections AND was inspected personally by the owner of Verragio himself in great detail at our headquarters.  It was absolutely determined, that this damage was NOT caused by normal wear and tear.  As is obvious by the pictures attached...

here, something happened to the ring to cause it to be severely misshaped.  Whether there was blunt force put directly upon this ring, or it was caught in something, there was something that caused this damage.  This is not a manufacturers defect.  A manufacturers defect in comparison, would be considered if there was a random crack in the metal with no other obvious damage done, a missing stone, etc.  This ring however, has experienced something that caused the ring to completely morph into a different shape. Please akin this to buying a new car.  If you leave the dealers lot and crash into a tree, would you bring the car back to the dealership and expect that they cover the expense of getting you a new car?  Likely not!Verragio has offered every possible option we can to this client.  We offered to reshape the ring for them at a minimal cost.  When this was not acceptable because of the lack of full warranty on just fixing the shape, we then offered to cast a brand new piece and reset the salvageable stones from the damaged mounting to the new.  This would come with a full Verragio warranty.  Typically, this recast charge is given at a price of $1200 to the consumer, which will cover the cost of metal and labor involved in resetting every stone.  THIS CLIENT WAS OFFERED THAT NEW PIECE FOR $600, half of the normal cost to do so.This is still unacceptable to the client.  It seems as if at this point the client just wants a free ring with a full warranty, but Verragio cannot be held responsible for the damage that was done to this piece.  Again, this is NOT  a result of normal wear and tear on a Verragio ring.  Verragio prides itself on craftsmanship and the condition this ring is currently in is NOT reflective of the quality of our pieces whatsoever. In analyzing this fine piece of jewelry, this ring has endured abuse, which is not covered by Verragio's warranty.  Verragio will still stand by the offer to recast and replace the damaged piece with a new ring (using the existing diamonds) at a cost of $600, but will not manufacture a piece and be held responsible for the cost in doing so.thank you.

Review: Verragio Company has been advertising Eterna rose gold wedding band ring 4022 for $5500.00. I made an appointment with [redacted]s jewelers in long island, New York, this past Saturday, based on this advertised price and drove all the way from New York City to visit this vendor for this particular ring, which by the way I was told would be there for me to try on, but Verragio never sent it. [redacted]'s is a jeweler which specializes in selling The Verragio brand.Only today, after speaking with [redacted], a sales rep at [redacted]s in Long Island, I was told that the price is actually $6400.00 and not the advertised sales price of $5500.00 both [redacted] and I saw on Verragio's website. Verragio had been advertising this particular wedding band for $5500, and only after I asked [redacted] to call Verragio and ask them about the price discrepancy, did they change the price on their website for this particular wedding band. [redacted] did confirm with them that they had stated this ring was for $5500 on their website. [redacted] too was confused by this and did alert Verragio of how misleading this advertisement was. Verragio mislead and inticed me by advertising this ring for $5500 on their website. They should honor the price they originally quoted, and not mislead consumers by such a misleading advertisement.Companies cannot False advertise and mislead consumers without there being any consequences. This is unethical in all aspects.Sincerely,[redacted]Desired Settlement: I'd like Verragio to honor the price they originally quoted, and not mislead consumers by such a misleading advertisement.Companies cannot False advertise and mislead consumers without there being any consequences. This is unethical in all aspects.

Response:

All pricing listed within [redacted] is shown as a starting price. Starting prices reflect 14K gold on each and every product shown within the collections gallery. In the case of this particular style, Eterna 4022, the pricing of $5500 does in fact reflect 14K gold.

Verragio has recently changed the metal content in which we manufacture our rose gold rings. A letter was sent with the production change to all Verragio retailers at that time.

Due to increased breakage and volatility in working with rose gold, Verragio's expert craftsman now only cast in 20K when working with the metal, as opposed to both 14K and 18K available in yellow and white gold. In working with the 20K rose gold, there is less risk for damage to the ring, as compared to 14K or 18K rose gold. The advertised price of $5500 indicates the pricing level for 14K gold, not the 20K which is currently priced at $6400.

Please note as well, Verragio's website does state that prices may fluctuate and Verragio will not be held responsible for any errors. This can be viewed in the FAQ section here:

Prices listed on the website are the starting prices of each ring but depending on the metal, center shape/size, finger size, customization, etc. prices will change accordingly. Center diamonds are not included in the price. We are not responsible for typographical errors.

Verragio is happy to offer [redacted]'s Jewelers customer one of 2 options. One, we can certainly honor the price of $5500 for style ETERNA 4022 if the customer chooses to proceed with either 14K white or yellow gold, of which Verragio will provide our normal Limited Lifetime Warranty on the ring.

Two...If the customer insists on the 14K Rose Gold version, we will honor the price of $5500 for that as well, however, we will not be able to warranty the piece whatsoever, due to our warnings of manufacturing in 14K rose gold.

It is our intention to satisfy this customer, but at the same time protect them from the risk of incurring any damage to their Verragio purchase
