VGH Computer Sales Reviews (2)

Review: I purchased an internet router from VGH Computer Services for the price of $27.99 plus the 6% state sales tax on September 15th. On September 16th my mother purchased an internet router for me as a wedding present, a very expensive router of better value than the one I had purchased the day prior.

On September 17th, 2014, approximately at 5:15pm, I went to return the router that I had purchased on September 15th at VGH Computer Services. I had misplaced my receipt; I moved back to Moscow this past weekend, and I became married a week and a half prior so I have been very busy to say the least and I did not have my receipt readily available.

When I went to return the router the manager [redacted] told me that he would take back the router but would keep 15% of what I paid for it. I told him I wanted my full payment back because the router had been opened but not used, let alone configured. He told me there was no way that he would be willing to give me back my full payment. I told him his decision was very poor business and that I would never shop at

this establishment ever again. With that he said "have a nice day". I said I want to return my router, I want my money back. I did not use profanity, I did not raise my voice or make a scene. He told me he would have given me my money back had I not said that I would never shop at the said establishment again. I asked him for his name, he said [redacted]. I asked if he owned the establishment and he said no, he managed it. I asked him for the name of his supervisor which he refused to provide. I left and called my parents who instructed me to contact the Revdex.com. I went back into the establishment to try once more to get my money back. I said "[redacted] I would like to return my router". He said "I would have returned your router and kept 15% of your payment had you not said that you would no longer shop here, I was doing you a favor and now I am not going to do it". I was dumbfounded because the router its self that I purchased was displayed on the counter where the cash register was, there were many other routers present. There is no question as to whether I had purchased the router at this business, there is no question as to whether I had used the router, the only thing in question was my personal opinion that I no longer wanted to shop at this business because of their exchange policies, which were not communicated to me verbally before the exchange of money for product. To punish a consumer because of their personal opinion is unethical.

I told [redacted] have the right to decide where I shop and why I do or do not shop somewhere. I told him that I have worked retail, and the purpose of a receipt is to prove that an individual did indeed purchase an item at said store at a specific price and on a specific date. This prevents people from buying something on sale and returning it and taking back more than what they paid for it. I told him that I have bank statements proving how much I paid and the date as well. He told me to "have a nice day". I motioned for another employee to come toward me, he did so. When he got close I asked him what the name of the owner was. [redacted] turned to him and said "[redacted] do not speak to her she has been helped". The man did not utter a word to me. There were two other employees present, neither of which were willing to speak to me. I was calm, well tempered, and rather polite, yet very stern. I told him this was the worst cus[redacted]er service I have ever had. I told him I would go through any avenue need be, in order to get my money back, to that he said "have a nice day" as he glared at me. He spoke down to me, he was condescending and did not value me as a consumer, merely because I had an opinion on how he ran someone else's business, of which he does not own. I have never been so poorly treated, ever. I was dumbfounded, and very hurt and disappointed that a business in Moscow could offer such poor costumer service.

Moscow businesses have a reputation of integrity, honesty and devotion to the consumer, this business was not up to par with such a reputation. The fact that I was punished for having an opinion and was refused my money is very saddening. I bought an item that I did not use, but took the plastic packaging off of the box and that was his reasoning for saying I could not have my full payment back. As I have stated, once I said I would no longer shop at the establishment ever again because of poor business practices he refused to refund my purchase all together. The exchange policy for VGH Computer Services should be verbally communicated with consumers prior to the exchange of money for service. I feel as though it is unfair to the consumer to not verbally communicate the exchange policy (nor have it posted/visibly prior to purchase) Especially if the exchange policy in question is abnormal in nature.

I was not only embarrassed and mistreated but very let down, saddened but especially hurt by the actions of all employees who followed the direction of [redacted] this evening, all of which prevented me for resolving this misdeed. I am a member of this community, an alumni of the University of Idaho and a strong supporter of integrity within all businesses in this town. I love Moscow and it's residents, and I was very let down this evening. It is my belief that when a consumer asks for the name of the supervisor that name should be provided. To stonewall a consumer is unacceptable. To tell other employees that they are not allowed to speak to a consumer when a consumer needs an issue resolved is unacceptable. The main issue here is not the exchange policy per se but rather the fact that the manager was willing to return the router for my money but changed his mind when I told him I did not like the exchange policy and that I would not shop at this business again.

I would like a refund. I want to take this router back to the business of which I purchased it and receive my money back.Desired Settlement: My request is that I be provided the opportunity to successfully return the Internet router that I purchased on September 15, 2014 from this business, for my money; after being told verbally by the cus[redacted]er service manager [redacted] that they would return it.

Response:

We are willing to take a return of the router without a receipt. The router must have all the original components. If everything is returned, we will charge the credit card back minus the 15% restocking fee that is specified on the receipt. Refund back to the card will be $25.19. The return must happen when I am at the store. My hours for working up front are from 9:30 am - 12:00 Monday thru Friday.

Thanks

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

I honestly would prefer not to give this business even 1 star as they deserve far less. The short story is that after VGH "fixed" my computer I had to take it to the Apple store in Spokane for over $1000 worth of work. And VGH charged me for the work done while the Apple store covered everything screwed up by VGH under my warranty. The long story is...My computer went in for what should have been a minimal fix. While I was told the repairs would only take a day or two, dependent on arrival of parts, they had my computer for nearly two weeks. As a student in a professional doctorate program, I really needed my computer fixed asap & thought this would be a better solution than mailing it in to Apple (whom thought the issue would be fixed in 2-3 days tops). Every time that I called to check on the status of my computer, I was given a vague answer & told more time was needed. When I threatened to take the computer from them & send it in to Apple, I was told my computer was actually done & I could pick it up immediately. I paid for the repairs & was told my computer had passed the testing & was working fine. However, when I got home my computer was a mess. I called in to VGH multiple times to find out what I could do & was told repeatedly that I needed to bring it in but would have to pay for whatever additional work was needed. When I called this week (on a Monday morning @ 9a), I was told the Apple service guy was not busy, but it would be at least Friday before he could even look at my computer. I took my computer to Spokane to the Apple store, where thankfully my warranty covered the >$1000 worth of repairs that was needed to fix the VGH's shab job. I picked up my computer today, although it was actually done yesterday (Thursday). Please save yourself the trouble of having a crappy store such as VGH service your equipment. Make the hour drive to Spokane & save yourself time & money in the long run!
