Vigilante Contracting Reviews (1)

Review: I am in dire need of assistance. I have recently had plumbing work done in my home by Stanley Lewis Plumbing from 7/*/2014 thru 7/**/2014 and Vigilante Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning from 7/**/2014 thru 7/**/2014. Stanley Lewis Plumbing commenced work on a cracked clogged sewage pipe. On 7/*/2014 [redacted] inspected area and two workers ([redacted] and [redacted]) were dispatched to my home address on 7/*/2014 to install another pipe (pd invoice # [redacted] $1959.75). I took noticed after installation of the sewer line to the fumes that appeared in my home, on 7/*/2014 I contacted Sears and scheduled an appointment for a maintenance check on my air conditioner hoping to ascertain where the noxious odor was coming from. The window air conditioner was checked by a Searss technician on 7/*/2014 and this was not the source for the fumes. These fumes are very irritating. I and my aunt suffered with stinging of eyes, coughing, and dizziness. I have had bouts of [redacted] and [redacted]. One visitor who appeared at my home on 7/**/2014 complained of eye irritation and nasal irritation. During certain hours of the day the fumes are worse. As the day grow older the fumes get worse. From about 9 pm and as night progresses until about 5 am the fumes are at its thickest. I am unable to get a good nights sleep as the ability to flow air throughout the house is limited in the evening and I am thus trapped with this noxious fume. With blinds and curtains down and doors locked in night hours the ability to ventilate is nearly impossible. Since this fume issue my electric bill I am sure will be astronomical. In addition to opening windows, I have burned fans and air conditioners throughout the house for relief. I am a disabled veteran currently being treated for interstitial lung disease and currently under the care of the Veterans Administration. On July *, 2014 I sent [redacted] from Stanley Lewis Plumbing Company an email with regards to the fumes I had been experiencing in my home. [redacted] came out to investigate fumes and stated I needed two traps and a fresh air vent. On July *, 2014 same two plumbers who installed sewer pipe installed the two traps and outdoor vent pipe in front yard between both windows on first floor ( pd invoice# [redacted] $1,524.25). As complaints persisted by July **, 2014 I contacted New York City Fire Department to inspect. Their equipment was negative as their equipment picks up gas or carbon monoxide odors. The odors or fumes I had appear to be related to the sewer gases. On July **, 2014 contact was made with [redacted] he stated he would be out of the office most of the day and he would ask around about from where the fumes could be coming from and get back to me. By Monday July **, 2014 I sent an email to [redacted] asking that he come out and revisit this issue because my health is being affected and my electric bills are climbing. I even expressed my concerns about the following few days weather forecast of heavy rain and told him I would have to stay in a hotel because I could not stay in the home with closed window. I told him I too did some asking around and was told if while work was being performed on the stack or sewer pipe leading into the vent pipe up to the roof without proper support this could cause a shift or crack and thus cause fumes to spill out through the walls in the house. I pointed out to [redacted] near that pipe in the basement the fumes are more pronounced and I was getting an abundance of eye stinging while standing in that area. [redacted] sent out the same two plumbers who installed the pipes in basement along with another gentleman named Juan who had a camera to run down the vent pipe from roof. Further investigation revealed the pipe coming from roof entering the attic ceiling was broken off and not connected to anything. No other camera investigation performed down balance of pipe from attic floor leading down into basement. The workers left the premises pending [redacted] coming out to check the area and advise what work had to be done. [redacted] told me he would be out by afternoon. By the time [redacted] called I had already left for the hotel for the next couple days due to approaching storm. He indicated in an email he called to tell me he had a personal emergency and would have to reschedule an appointment to stop by. After feeling I was getting the run around I contacted [redacted] the morning of 7/**/2014 and told him I would have someone else look into the fume issue. I felt I have waited long enough and not getting any satisfaction.Desired Settlement: I would like the fume and sewer odor resolved.

Business

Response:

We currently have an appointment with this customer on 8/*/14 to try and figure out where the smell in her home is coming from. This customer is a disabled American veteran and we are very sensitive to the struggles our nations vets face. We will do our very best to help, even if that means preforming some work outside of our original contracted scope.
