Village Truck Sales, Inc. Reviews (1)

On Sunday October 19, 2014, my car broke down in the breakdown lane on route 8 in Chesire, Massachusetts due to the time belt breaking. When we returned home we than called [redacted] salvage yard for them to come tow the car and junk it.However, by the time we arrived back home it was almost five in the evening and they were closing down. They said they would meet us the next morning to pick it up seeing as we had twenty four hours to remove it from the side of the road. When my husband and the tow company returned the next morning our vehicle was no where to be found. We then proceeded to call the Chesire police barracks to report it missing.During our call we were told that our car was removed with out our knowledge by the tow truck owner of Village Truck Sales,Inc,[redacted].When I called the company to ask what had happened or if we could get the car back the [redacted] was very rude by cutting me off while I was talking asking if she could talk now. When the owner, [redacted], finally called back he explained to me that I had owed him for the car being towed and that I could not get any of my belongings from the car until I paid him.My husband and I both went to the office where the owner was very rude and obnoxious to my husband using foul obscene language that to me was very unprofessional. We then left and came back to our residence to call the police to explain what happened. The police kind of laughed it off because [redacted] had mentioned to us that he had been friends with the police for over fifteen years. The police then told us that [redacted] would be willing to give us one hundred dollars for the car as compensation for the whole situation. We then proceeded to go back to the office to collect our money, our children's car seats and also the plates from the car.He would not let us do so until we gave him the keys and title. When we decided that was not the deal he then proceeded to remove our car from the tow truck and we are not able to see it anywhere on the property.Desired SettlementWe would like to be reimbursed for the distress we have gone through throughout this whole situation, my husband and I both missing work for the week, my children's car seats, the new battery I had planned on returning, my plates and registration costs, the two hundred and fifty dollars we were supposed to get from junking the car at [redacted] salvage yard, the costs of insurance that I a not able to cancel because he will not give me back the plates on the car. Around 900-1000 Dollars.Business Response Our towing company was called to remove said vehicle from the breakdown lane, which was on a blind corner on a state highway. The vehicle was tagged with a hazard sticker and we were contacted by State police to remove vehicle. The owners did not call Mass State police and inform them of situation. The next day Husband came into my office while I was having a delightful conversation with Ms [redacted] trying to work situation out. I hung up with her and changed to him, he proceeded to tell be me I stole his car, I had zero right to remove it, I never was unprofessional, I tried to explain the protocol with him, he would not listen. I then picked up the phone and called the Mass state police and reported myself for stealing his car. They sent a trooper down and talked to the husband and his friend for two hours. Husband returned with Ms [redacted] later on. I offered them $100 cash for their car and the towing and storage bill $170. In total was $270.00 for their trouble. This is $20 more than they were getting from [redacted] salvage. Again my secretary was here at this point and another employee was in the office as a witness, there was no foul language! Everyone was moving forward, the keys to car were on the counter and in my hand at one point. I started to write the receipt for them. I said we are all set,now one more piece, I will give you the $100.00 for the car when you deliver the title, as Mass General Law, I cannot get rid of vehicle with out it! Both parties stormed out of my office and said you will be hearing from my attorney! For the record, the tow bill is $100.00 plus 35.00 per day and to today's date the bill is $625.00 The car is on my property, and they are not the victim! I will also advise local authorities that this has been taken to this ring!Regards [redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not except due to the fact that at no time ever was 270$ offered to my husband and I. Only the 100$. [redacted] never once had the keys in his hands in fact they were on the counter the whole time until he tried writing out a bill of sale to us but would not give us the money. No one ever called us to let us know that the car had been tagged nor could anyone show us a report of what happened. When I called the very first time the secretary [redacted] kept interrupting me asking me if she could talk while I was explaining the situation. A week ago [redacted] also had called my husband and told him that if he did not pay the towing fee he was going to junk it to get it off his yard. I do not accept because I do not feel that the situation was handled correctly nor professionally. [redacted] also had mention that he had been friends with the state police for 15 years and that they would make sure he was right and out of trouble. However when the police came to meet my husband at the tow company [redacted] left in a hurry instead of the all talking. My husband and I did not storm out we just felt that we were lied to and put threw the ringer over the 100$ and also the car. [redacted] is the one who stormed out behind us while we exited the building, and quickly jumped into the tow truck with our car loaded on it. We haven't seen the car there since. Final Business Response Per conversation with [redacted], bring title and keys to vehicle and come get your belongings and plates. Village Truck Sales will release you of $100 towing bill and $1015.00 in storage fees.
