Review: I went to go have dinner with my husband and children and waited and hour for my dinner and our waitress barely came around to us and im a diabetic...when our pizza came the whole bottom of the pizza was soaking wet and nasty. I complained before anyone ate it and she said im sorry that how our pizza is and walked away. my husband said I guess we have to eat it since she wont take it back and my surgar was getting low...so we each had a slice of pizza and only ate the toppings. we were so discusted by the pizza we complained again. she took our pizza left over and said she had to charge us for the stuff we ate since it couldn't of been that bad since we ate it...my husband said we tried to give it back to them but she didn't care...I told her I also waited an hour for my food and im diabetic..she told me im not special... she called me a [redacted] as she walked away. I told the manager what happened he didn't do anything about it and told me the owner would call me...its been a couple days and everytime I call to talk to a manager I get hung up on. my husband is black and my kids are half black and italian...I don't know if it had to do with race or not but I never been treated so badly.Desired Settlement: $45.00 cost of dinner

Response:

Vincent's Pizza Park responds to Ms. [redacted] complaint by stating the following. We are certainly aware that we offer a distinctive style of pizza and that it does not appeal to every palette. I am truly sorry that your experience at Vincent's was not a pleasant one. However, from the facts provided to me, it appears the complaint was handled professionally and in accordance with our standard procedures.

Please understand that on a Friday or Saturday night it is not uncommon to wait an hour or more for a pizza. In addition, when you choose multiple toppings, it adds additional cooking time. As for the sogginess, we use only fresh ingredients. When you cook fresh vegetables, i.e. mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, the water from those vegetables is absorbed in the crust. Thus the crust becomes soggy. That is what customers of the "works but" love best about it. Again, that taste is not for everyone.

It is my understanding that three servers on duty at the time of customers' visit had conversations with the customer. The gentleman said nothing; the women stated her complaints after three fourths of the pizza was eaten and the children were quoted as saying the pizza was awesome. Customers at the table directly next to the Greens' indicated that the server did nothing inappropriate and gave their phone number to validate the server's story.

It would be unacceptable for any server to use profanity to any customer. The server in question indicated that she did not call the customer a "[redacted] As for being special, ALL of our customers are special, it is just that not one customer is any more special than the next.

The customer was refunded for the remaining pizza (1/4) of the pie. This would be our standard practice regardless of race, color or creed. Discrimination of any kind is never demonstrated or tolerated.

I do know not every person is a fan of Vincent's Pizza. But I believe this unfortunate circumstance was handled equitably, so no further action was made on my behalf. Once again I am sorry for your negative experience at the iconic Vincent's Pizza Park.
