I received the Preliminary Plan for review and am again very satisfied. No changes required. I did have one new question as I focused on the floor joists span and we immediately resolved that concern. The Preliminary Plan is OK without any changes.
As my last experience in 1999, this project is going great. Can’t wait until I receive the final Building Plans.

Review: Contacted owner Mike F[redacted] in April, 2015 in response to his Lifetime Coating by Virginia Decking & Remodeling, LLC (see attachment ad). His sales pitch promised a lifetime coating decking material they found when their decking business slumped after the 2008 downturn. We were told this material was developed by a man trying to keep his boat dock from rotting. We researched his website, lifetime-coatings.com; asked for references, called references; received a quote and read the contract. We questioned the high price, but there was no wavering. The references had no complaints, and were in large happy with the work. We were looking for an alternative to replacing our large 25 year old deck. We signed the contract on May 4, 2015 for pressure washing, nail recessing, structure tightening as needed, resurfacing of all decking and application of StoneWood (a fungicide and moisture detergent applied to the underneath of deck boards) for both rear decking and front porch decking, plus painting of front porch railings and posts for $10,692.00. An initial payment of $2811 was made on 4/27/15 at the initial agreement, and $290.00 paid on date of upgraded contract on 5/4/15. Payment of $2780 was made on 8/28/15 when work was beginning (delay due to weather issues), and another payment of $642 on 9/2/15. Work was completed while we were out of town from9/4/15 to 9/20/15. Upon return we found leftover material in a Home Depot bucket. Went to Home Depot and after speaking to the well informed staff in paint dept. that the material was actually Behr Premium Deck Over. Staff had been suspicious of Mr. F[redacted] and were not surprised when we told them our story. They confirmed product in bucket was indeed the Behr Deck Over. They seemed to be suspicious that he was removing the Behr labels and promoting this product as stated above. We were misled

by his advertisement (see vadeck.com and lifetime-coatings.com), his sales pitch, and the product.Desired Settlement: We would like to see Mr. F[redacted] be accountable for the scam he is pulling on unsuspecting consumers. We also intend to withhold the remaining $6523.00. They have already received $4169.00 which well covers the cost of the product and labor.
