Virginia Paving Reviews (1)

Review: In September 2015, my husband and I hired Virginia Paving to tear up the old driveway and put in a new driveway with a turn-out at our residence on [redacted] in December. The paving job was done in early December 2015 to include a new large drainage pipe at the end of the driveway. The driveway looked great. In the Spring we created a beautiful landscape and put a garden shed next to the turn-out driveway. In June 2016 [redacted] received an extremely heavy downpour. The water backed up at the side of the house creating a pool of water. We couldn't figure out why the drain had backed up. My husband started digging the landscape up to find the water went all the way to the driveway and pooled again. Upon further digging my husband discovered there was no working drainage pipe under the driveway. There was a drainage pipe on the other side of the driveway but he pulled it out while trying to run a snake through. It was only about 12 inches long. It almost looked as if someone tried to hide the fact that the drain pipe underneath the driveway was crushed! The owner of the business came out to look at it and asked if we thought this was his fault and I said yes! It was HIS company! He said he was on vacation the next week, the week of July 4th, but would take care of it the week he returned. He never showed up. We called him time after time and he said each time he would come the next day to fix it. To this day he has never showed up. My husband and I have wasted days waiting for him to come repair the driveway. We started recording the times and dates of phone calls we've made. We only get a recording that 'this subscriber cannot receive messages at this time'. We have called at least 18 times to no avail. We have had a large hole in our yard for almost 2 months now because the water has nowhere to go. If the problem continues the integrity of the driveway as well as the foundation for the shed could be compromised.Desired Settlement: We want the proper drainage pipe put under the driveway. If he can't or won't do it we would like reimbursement for the amount it will cost to do the job right!

Response:

Virginia Paving was contacted to pave a driveway last September (2015). We went and removed existing drive-way, dug out for a turn-a-round, and installed a 15” inch drain pipe at the entrance of the driveway. We let the driveway sit for approximately three to four months, while homeowners were adding an addition onto the back of their home. At the time there was no problem with drainage to our knowledge. We returned in early December 2015 to pave the driveway, still no problem with drainage. In June we had heavy rain and the homeowner called us about a back up in a drain that we never knew existed. At that time we found a new building and landscaping close to a damaged area.I explained to homeowner that we don’t feel like we are at fault. However, we want to help repair when we are close to their home. Homeowner seemed to be upset about not being able to reach me on the phone. I have to help on job sites with loud equipment. I receive numerous of calls throughout the day, paving jobs, sealing jobs, telemarketers etc. I try very hard to answer and respond back as quickly as possible. I apologize for any inconvenience that we caused. However as soon as we were working close to homeowners home. We saw, cut, and removed damaged pipe and installed the proper pipe needed for drainage. That’s why we didn’t feel like we were at fault. Nevertheless, we want to help homeowners in any way possible for the life of the driveway. They are a very nice family and have given us a lot of recommendations to other customers. Our goal is that homeowners are satisfied. While in the process of cleaning up the jobsite, we received a letter from the Revdex.com. We wish we could have resolved the issue sooner. Again we are sorry for any inconvenience that may have occurred. Our goal is to satisfy ALL Virginia Paving customers.Sincerely,Virginia Paving
