6-27-2014Dear [redacted],This previous student has no grounds to accuse my school or myself of any of those slanderous statements just to create an atmosphere of doubt to anyone reviewing this Revdex.com site.I have a substantial file on this person and in it there are testimonials from students about her poor attitude, hateful mouth about other students and her constant negative gossiping. I also have all of the “Emails, voice mails and texts that were sent to me by her for various excuses and untruths about her personal situations that cause her to be the way she is and why she misses so much school. My file also holds other various topics that I cannot state in this complaint but if I could, they would clearly show the state of mind this person has and would clear up all of those wicked made up accusations about me and my school.I have documented all correspondence and communications with the [redacted] agent that was handling her case and the agency acknowledges the contractual breach that occurred and time delays that she tried to manipulate to get what she wanted. They are not expecting and refund in this matter. In closing, my school has completely followed the protocols of the Enrollment agreement and the guidelines set by the State Council of Higher Education. Every effort was taken to work with and help this person to complete this course but she chose to delay and interrupt her training and now expects to start back up ten months later to complete the course. The [redacted] file and my individual file on this student are closed.Sincerely,

Review: This complaint is regarding dog grooming training that was not delivered. I temporarily moved from Minnesota to Virginia in order to attend the Virginia School of Pet Grooming. According to their website and conversations I had with the owner, their 80 day, 660 hour program would require me to groom up to 350 dogs. There were many other schools I considered, but I choose VA School of Pet Grooming because they assured me I would receive the required 350 dogs or "close to 350". In the Student Enrollment Contract, it states students, by week 4, I would be expected to complete 5 dogs per DAY, 2-3 "full groomings" and 2 "bath, brush" groomings. As of my 4th week, I had not been given ANY "full groomings", and had only been allowed to bathe 36 total pets. The instructor daily assigned one or two full groomings to other 4th week students, but ignored my requests to get an assignment. She said that business was slow and I would get a chance later. I suggested to the instructor that the school ask some animal rescue groups for pets we could groom for free, but she said she needed to ask the school owner. By my 6th week, I had only been given 5 dogs to full groom. After several attempts, I finally got a meeting with the owner, who assured me I would be given full groom assignments before other students, since I was from out of state. That promise was not kept, and by my 42nd day, I had only received 14 full groom dog assignments. Other students who had attended class only 37 days had received double or triple that number. I met with the owner on 4/4/14 to express my dissatisfaction and to request access to some fundamental instructional videos, from the enrollment contract lesson plan, that should have been provided my first week. The owner stated they no longer have the required videos from the lesson plan and gave no indication he would replace them. He did promise me a minimum 2 full groom assignments daily for the remaining 38 days, but broke his promise by 4/7.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of the $4,000.00 tuition I paid, plus $3,000.00 for living and travel expenses. If the owner agrees and complies with this settlement, I will consider the matter closed.

4-28-2014In response to this complaint, I will demonstrate that [redacted] has omitted critical points in her letter. Listed below are the discrepancies and distortions:•She erroneously asserts what the Enrollment Agreement states and of what the school "assures" her. I would be glad to send you a copy of the Enrollment Agreement so you can verify that the document defines the practical experience terms.•I do not promise anything that I have no control over, such as weather conditions. The same Enrollment Agreement section stated above clearly describes what variables we have to operate under and what the students can expect.•Her statement that she has been given fewer full-grooming opportunities than other students who have the same day of schooling as she is not true; she has once again misrepresented her situation. We teach independently, not in group classes. No one enrolled in the grooming program started at the same time as she did. The assignments are delegated to students based on their level of completion of the program and to what point they have been trained to groom certain pets.•Her statement that my instructor said, "We are slow," is also inaccurate. We can only accept a certain amount of pets per day, based on the level of training that each student has and the type of pets he or she can groom. My staff takes this into consideration and blocks off on the computer the maximum amount of groomings allowed each day.• Concerning the rescue leagues, she omitted the fact that she approached me about bringing in rescue dogs to groom so that students have dogs to groom, and so the rescues have a better chance of being adopted quickly due to being clean and attractive. I explained that we already have programs set up, that and we help over 30 rescue leagues. We not only aid them through free grooming, but also with discounted veterinary services. When these groups have animals to be cared for, they bring them in; if they do not have any to adopt out, then they have none to bring us. During this time of year the rescue and abandonment rate is lower than it is in other seasons, such as summer.• Her statement about the videos we no longer have and do not know when we will get back is incorrect. The two videos in question are clipper Maintenance for [redacted] Clippers and the Flea tape. I explained to her that we do not use the [redacted] tape anymore because we are using another manufactured clippers and it does not serve a purpose to view that particular tape when the new clippers do not require the same intense maintenance as the clippers that we no longer use. The flea tape was damaged and could not be repaired. It was given to me by a veterinarian friend when I first open the school over twenty-five years ago. He made it himself for his practice, and it was the only copy. My friend died eight years ago and the practice closed down. His widow lives in Florida and has no access to another tape. I did try to replace it, but could not.[redacted] was having problems learning grooming early in the program. She had difficulty handling the dogs on the table and following instructions. She would groom dogs not to the owners specifications, but in a way which she deemed was better. She made mistake after mistake in areas where we had tried repeatedly to correct her. Considering her progress, we saw enough of an indication that grooming was not a suitable trade for her. We counselled her early in March of 2014, and she insisted she was not ready to withdraw. We agreed to try working with her again.Unfortunately, by the end of March I had to have a formal meeting with her in which I presented her with a letter stating that we as a school felt it was truly time for her to withdraw. We decided that withdrawal was the best course of action for her because she could not properly execute the required grooming standards. It would take her up to five hours to complete two dogs when, as she herself pointed out, she should be completing three or four dogs a day at that stage in her training. Since she could not groom the dogs we gave her in a proper or timely manner, we could not advance her by giving her more dogs to groom. She insisted on staying, however, and I warned her that the refund policy would soon run out and that I felt she should withdraw. Our meeting on the 4, as she stated, was a repeat of previous meetings. After nine weeks into the program, I continued to insist that she withdraw.Grooming is a very difficult trade to learn. It is taxing to properly groom an animal that does not want to be groomed. The possibility that one will be bitten or otherwise injured due to a dog not wanting to be brushed or bathed is a constant concern. Grooming is not for everyone and it is not a failure to realize that.I have a complete file on record for this student and have given every possible detail on her case. Her request for a complete refund, including her expenses, is not possible. My staff and I followed the program with her completely and dedicated extra time and effort to guide her, but now she has realized that she cannot be a groomer and wants everything back.Based on her time in class, she will be given a refund in compliance with the refund policy set by the State Council of Higher Education found in Section 2.05 on Page 3 of the Enrollment Agreement.Sincerely,

Consumer
