Review: On June 7, 2014, I contacted Virginia Water Conditioning Corp regarding my water softener not working properly. I conveyed that I would be off work on Monday June 9, 2014. The phone operator informed me that they had no availability and would call me if they had a cancelation. I waited all day Monday, June 9, 2014 and the phone operator never called and no one came to my residence. On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, I returned from work and noticed an invoice left by Virginia Water Conditioning of $140 for a trip service on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. I immediately called Virginia Water Conditioning Corp and left a message regarding this is unethical and illegal given I informed the phone operator I would be available on Monday, June 9, 2014 and had to work the rest of the week. Further, I never consented to an appointment. I still have not received a phone call from this company. And waited all day Monday, June 9, 2014 and no technician came to my residence.

I never had a company come to my residence without my knowledge/consent or make an appointment and bill me for a service call. This is very unethical behavior and fraud.Desired Settlement: I want confirmation from the Virginia Water Conditioning Corp. that the $140 invoice has been credited and my account is $0. This confirmation needs to be in writing and mailed to my residence at [redacted], Va. [redacted]. In addition, Virginia Water Conditioning Corp. no longer bills me illegally or come to my residence without my consent.

Response:

July, 9,2014In response to the complaint #[redacted]The dispatcher told the customer that we had no openings on the schedule for June 9th that is why the service was scheduled for June 10th. I'm sorry that she stayed home on the 9th, but if we have scheduled calls to perform we are obligated to do those service calls first. That is why the dispatcher told her that we had no availability. The reminder postcards that are sent to our customers explain that there will be a charge for any appointments not cancelled within 2 hours of the scheduled time. I have enclosed a postcard with the explanation listed. The call was scheduled for June 10th and our service technician did show up at the house on that day at the scheduled time. We do not show up to customer's homes without a service call being scheduled by the customer. We never "drop by" unannounced, and we never stop by because were near the house on another call. Every call is scheduled with a 2 hour time frame and every attempt is made to keep to that schedule. We cannot stop by our customer's home unannounced and expect to perform a one hour s service call with no notice. This would not be productive for us or our customers. After the customer left a threatening message on our answering machine, the dispatcher called her back and told her to disregard the bill and we would consider the matter closed. So this complaint was certainly unexpected and unfortunate for a situation we considered closed. Her account has been terminated and she will not receive any further reminders from our company.
