Above and beyond frustrated and unhappy**1st- I go to a location at on Sunday April 9th and no one was thereI figured they are running lateAbout I start to call other locations to be be told that someone is running late and will be there in a half hourThat's nearly an hour after the opening timeI had to drive across town to the other location**2nd- Lady tells me my total and I ask if it prorated since I'm starting an agreement mid monthI'm informed that it is prorated and will not draft until JuneNext thing I know, I get charged in may! When I mention this to the owner and his sisterI am told "that is what happens when you have these young girls working hereThat is every where you go!" Um, not my problemHire more capable people!!!! **3rd- I look on the Facebook and it shows specials/sales about Mother's DayI shower and put on my versa primer (which isn't cheap) and go to the tanning bed to arrive and find a sign on the door stating that they are closed for Mother's Day even though their Facebook says openWasted time and primer**4th- I look on the website at the list of locations and go to the Florence location to discover it is no longer there! I call and the lady says "I thought everyone knew that one wasn't thereHad to shutdownThat guy was doing shady stuff"I express that I can not believe that I signed a one year agreement and have had so many issues in a months time!!!!!! I mean, seriouslyI tel her that I want to cancel and she says that there is no buy out or cancelation and if I cancel my card that it will go to collectionswowspeechlesshow many times do I have to go the the tanning salon and not be able to tan!!!!

First time at Vivid Tan, Looking for long term tanning membershipI purchased a Groupon so I could try it outI was hoping to get some answers for my questions, about tanning, body wraps and teeth whiteningThe front counter guy, I can only describe him as an overweight Hispanic male with a poorly trimmed beardI asked about all the services, and he lacked customer service, he acted as he was doing me a favor, more interested in his cell phoneI wanted to get a body wrap done and he tells me "it's broken"He was rude, unfriendly and definitely made me reconsider taking my business elsewhereThe building looks like they are in the middle of being painted and worked onIn major need of maintenanceI would not recommend vivid tan to anyone, unless you like unfriendly, angry people helping you out

This tanning salon is disgraceful and has dishonest thieves working for them. I accidentally left my rose gold Movado watch there while tanning. I went back to get it at my next tanning session, the guy at the front desk said he 100% saw it in the cash drawer. Looked everywhere and couldn't find it. He said to tan and he would call the two girls that work the front desk to see where it was. Well low and behold when I get out of the tanning bed he continues to tell me that the two girls don't know where it is. He says one of them is trustworthy and the other is not. Why the hell would you have a person representing your business and working with customers that isn't trustworthy!?

I then ask what about the cameras, and he says they are broken... Of course. I was then told to file a police report. How could anyone let their business operate like this and have such ss represent them? I have filed a police report, as well as a report with Groupon where I bought the package. No wonder their prices are so cheap, they pocket your st and hire dishonest and untrustworthy degenerates.

If I could give this tanning salon a -100 rated review it still wouldn't be low enough.

Review: When I signed up there was no written contract provided by the on site employee to which stated what my monthly membership fee was, when my withdrawal date would be or any other policies such as cancellation, etc. Feeling uneasy about this I asked the employee to at least write my monthly membership amount on the back of my receipt and cancellation policy with the owners contact information. Two weeks in I cancelled my membership for poor service, faulty equipment and for all the reasons listed below.1.) Regardless of asking for my monthly membership amount to be written on the back of my receipt since a contract was never provided by the employee (to which he stated they did not have one) I STILL GOT RIPPED OFF...I was told my monthly membership would be $39 a month which is what was written on my receipt as well by the employee. The first month they ended up withdrawing $49 from my bank account. The owner was unwilling to refund the difference despite having the employees writing on my receipt and verbal agreement. The owner has even since admitted that the employee should have written up a contract. So obviously one did exist after all.2.) I was told conflicting cancellation dates. The employee I signed up with told me 21 days and also wrote this on my receipt. Then a different employee told me 15 days. When I asked the owner about this his response was as follows via email: "As for the cancellation policy there was a 30 day policy before. I installed a 21 day policy and now it's a 15 day policy". Well which is it? Also, the owner does not provide prorated refunds so regardless of being required to provide only a 15 day cancellation if done on the 1st you still have to pay for the full month. Owner has since failed to respond to me after last request to consider refund of prorated charges after cancellation date requirements and for overcharge withdraw from my bank account for monthly membership.Desired Settlement: Refund of prorated charges after cancellation date requirements and for overcharge withdraw from my bank account for monthly membership.

Response:

When people sign up for Vivid Tan membership they sign up and pay for months at a time. In our salon just like any other salon in San Diego they don't give refunds on unused portions of the month. I tried explaining to her when she signs up she pays for the month and she has the whole month to tan regardless if she cancels. Also when you cancel your membership it doesn't stop your membership immediately. She is able to come in and tan for the rest of the time paid for. I also spoke with [redacted] the salesman in question and he said the price in the computer was the price he quoted her. So to my knowledge all charges are accurate. We gave her a discounted price on our premium membership that was 69.00 a month for unlimited use at the rate of 49.00 per month. We gave her a great deal! People do not get this price at our salon anymore because of the amazing value. I will repeat again NO membership based companies give prorated refunds on unused portions. You pay for month of tanning and you get a month of tanning.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[The owners response is unacceptable in the fact that I never received or signed a contract or any other document for that matter that would indicate what the stores policy is and now he's trying to tell me verbally after the fact. Also, I don't believe the owner ever had a conversation with [redacted] the sales person because his last conversation to me in writing was that he had been trying to get a hold of [redacted] and was not successful. When I asked how much longer I would have to wait for him as the owner to make a decision since he can't seem to get a hold of his employee there was no response back from him. Additionally, after [redacted] left and the employee replacement that came in in his place told me on numerous occasions the business affairs at that store were a mess and the owner never comes in and doesn't know what's going on there. Even after repeatedly informing the owner I had written documentation in [redacted]'s handwriting that he wrote $39 a month on the back of my receipt which I'm sure could be matched up to other documents in the store, the owner never once even asked me to email it or bring by the receipt to the store for his review. Oh right, that's because he's never at the store. Fact is this owner is running a shady, half assed, run down business charging customers absorbent fees for beds with numerous burnt out bulbs, beyond half life bulbs and beds that don't operate unless a breaker is switched in the back. It all makes sense now that every time I went in there was NEVER any other customers there.]

I went and checked again at the salon for any possible mistake in the commission log and I didn't find anything to justify a mistake on our part. The only difference I did find was the fact [redacted] did in fact give her a 39.00 a month membership fee. The only reason her first payment was 49.00 was because she signed up October 22 ( I supplied a photo to show she signed up on 10/22/14 on the bottom left corner) and she started tanning immediately, so what that means is that she was prorated for the month of October which is $10 and she was charged 39.00 for the month of November. I am attaching our prorate sheet to prove the amount of the prorate was right and is fact. [redacted] did not keep her membership long enough to see that her first charge was 39.00 a month. As for the accusations about our lamps this is true but Ive been taking actions to help us become much more competitive with the rest of San Diego. Ive attached two invoices and a proposal of lamps that are set and read to be ordered to be sent to me within two to three days. I also had [redacted] from suntan supply send a letter to vouch I am redoing my lamps with the best possible lamps available as soon as possible. Ive only owned company six months and I did inherit a mess but things are getting better every month. We have a great customer base and for the most part we care very much on making them happy! We are getting great reviews at the salon due to the progress Ive made. I did speak with [redacted] finally because I had to visit his home address and he did send his apologies. His phone is currently cut off. I continue to attest our charges are accurate.
