Dear ***,
I have researched this situation and would like to clarify a few points*** *** did adopt a dog from us on 2/14/I will enclose a copy of the signed contractIt clearly states that there are no refunds and every adopter is also told that at the time of the adoption
so that there is no misunderstanding of the contract. If there are any post adoption issues that are unusual and the adopter feels as if they are due a refund they are instructed to write a letter to the Board of Directors and request a refundThey are instructed to explain why they feel as if they should get a refundWhile it is clearly stated there are no refunds, sometimes the Board of Directors will consider and grant a refund if there are unusual or extenuating circumstancesNo one is ever promised an answer in daysThe Board meets four times a year and that is when the letters are presentedThis system has been in place since Adopters requesting a refund are asked to submit a fetter, via snail mail, to be presented to the Board, No one is told to fax or email a refund request, they are asked to mail a letter that explains the situation.*** *** adoption application form that was filled out and signed, states that there were no existing animals in the homeWe ask that everyone he honest when filling out these forms so that we can head off any post adoption issues, as well as to make a decision as to if the adopter is suited to adopt one of our animals, The adoption contract requires that the new animal is to be quarantined from any existing pets for two weeksif the dog was annoying the cats, then this clearly did not happenWhile it has not been yet presented to the BOD, I feel that the adopters were not honest when applying to adopt this petIf they had been truthful and put that they have two cats, the adoption counselor would have taken steps to avoid this problemOne of which would have been explicitly explaining the two week quarantine that apparently was not followedThe other issue is the vet; on their adoption - request form they stated that they do not have a vetWhy would they mislead the adoption counselor into thinking that they do not have a vet or cats unless they do not take their cats to a vet on a regular basis which would have disqualified them from adopting? Prior to us having that information, we asked if they were interested in an older dog, they indicated they were, but charged their mind. This seems like an unfortunate situation that might have been prevented if they simply had been honest in answering the questions on the adoption application.Sincerely,Cynthia SExecutive Director

there is no misunderstanding of the contract. If there are any post adoption issues that are unusual and the adopter feels as if they are due a refund they are instructed to write a letter to the Board of Directors and request a refund. They are instructed to explain why they feel as if they should get a refund. While it is clearly stated there are no refunds, sometimes the Board of Directors will consider and grant a refund if there are unusual or extenuating circumstances. No one is ever promised an answer in 30 days. The Board meets four times a year and that is when the letters are presented. This system has been in place since 1999. Adopters requesting a refund are asked to submit a fetter, via snail mail, to be presented to the Board, No one is told to fax or email a refund request, they are asked to mail a letter that explains the situation.[redacted] adoption application form that was filled out and signed, states that there were no existing animals in the home.
