On Nov. 15th, 2014 Walshs Towing was dispatched by Washington County Police Dept. at about 10:30 p.m. to a tow. Washington County Police dispatched told us: vehicle located close to [redacted], vehicle is in the ditch, needs to be pulled out and taken to our location because customer can not...

pay the bill. We were also advised to be careful because the roads were very slippery. Our truck left immediately, got to Glacier drive with officers on scene. As we attempted to go up the long hill that the customer was located near the top of, our driver started to slide with flat bed backwards down the hill. Our driver was able to get the truck off the black top and on to the side of the road where he was able to gain more traction. As  he was attempting to do that the truck slid farther into the ditch than he wanted. He then called in and said road was extremely icy and that he would get out of ditch but we needed to bring wrecker out to stabilize the tow truck so he could pull the customer out. I then sent [redacted] out with the wre·cker. When [redacted] reached the scene he couldn't get to the customer either. We attempted the next road up (Aurora) to come around from back side but the roads were just to icy to get there. A third truck was called to come from Hwy. B to see if he could come around from the back way to stabilize another truck so we could winch customer out. The police decided that they would call in a county salt truck to see if they could layer the hill with salt. The customer asked if his vehicle could just stay sitting in the ditch, but police and driver told him" no, if another car comes over the hill later it could hit you." After a long wait the county salt truck showed up and layed 4 layers of salt on hill so we could finally get there and winch him out. It is unfortunate that this was a job that became more expensive duen to the amount of time we spent on scene. This was more than the normal winch out due to road conditions and safety. The tow bill was never written on the scene because we were dispatched to bring the vehicle in. The tow bill was written back at the shop around 2:00 A.M and I ([redacted]) disconnected bill at that time trying to give the customer a break. The customer was not told that the county sets the tow price because they don't. The customer was told the base tow charges we use are the City of West Bend rates. Customer must understand that these big heavy duty trucks cost money to run and we need to pay the drivers. Our drivers are highly experienced and well trained.None of our drivers made any mistakes. I understand that the customer doesn't hear whats being dispatched or communicated by police officers, tow truck drivers or tow dispatch so it may seem confusing, but we need to be concerned about everyone's safety while doing every job.[redacted]General Manager

We are a family owned business and go out of our way to help our customers, community and others. We never said the brakes made your tire come off or ever mentioned anything about a caliper failing so Im not sure what that is about. We stated that we have no idea where and what all happened to your vehicle in the 1000 plus miles since it was here. We did state that possibly someone was looking at your brakes or repairing your brakes and took the tires off because the brakes needed to be replaced. Lug nuts were tightened correctly and not sure who loosened them or what or if something happened that Mr. [redacted] is not even aware of during that time.[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[redacted] I’m done this company is a bunch of scammers and liars that lady never contacted me once. I was the one to contact her, and when I couldn’t make it in the one day because of my work schedule I called back and came the next day she’s a liar she never talked to me or tried to contact me about this situation after I contacted the Revdex.com  I can’t believe that your company the Revdex.com keeps allowing them to give these blasé vague fake answers and accept them. I’m going to sue them in small claims court just please close out the case and let me know what you decide because obviously nobody worked on my car nobody looked at my car until the wheel fell off because of their negligence . I know they never talked my car down to the specific torque specifications as well and I will bring this fact up in the lawsuit because I watch them work on my car and I know how you use a torque wrench to torque lug nuts town and they did not do that they are liars please just close out the case so I can get a complete copy of this and take it to small claims court obviously they don’t care about me you don’t care about fixing the situation and they think that you are just going to allow them to get away with that I hope you seriously give them an F rating and scold them and put on the report that they did not work with me in anyway shape or form to settle this because they did not they have not contacted me once . I’m the one that contacted them they never contacted me never ever respect fully [redacted]

Review: They have a sign out front, posting an oil change for $19.99. I made an appointment based on that ad. When it came time to pay, the bill was for $26.60. I asked why, and they quoted an "environmental fee" of $4.00. Even though I communicated my displeasure at the additional fee, and told them their ads were misleading, they still charged me $26.60. I would never trust them with a major car repair. If they are like this for an oil change, whose to say they wouldn't hoodwink you for more, if given the opportunity? Furthermore, the customer service was SO unprofessional and downright rude - not when I made the appointment, but when I inquired into the extra charges. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!Desired Settlement: I would like to have my charge corrected to what they advertised - $19.99. To add more once they have my car and have done the oil change is wrong and unethical. They did not communicate this additional charge to me prior to taking my car. If they had, I would not have had my oil changed there.

Response:

We do have a posting at the front desk that says - ALL OIL CHANGES HAVE A $4.00 ENVIRONMENTAL CHARGE. At Walshs we are very concerned about the environment and recycle every way we can, unfortunately some times it cost more to recycle. I believe all shops have a fee but not sure if they actually tell their customers what its for. If she wishes she can stop by and see me and I will be happy to refund the environmental fee of $4.00 to her. [redacted]

Took a car in with damage due to another party hitting it. Insurance co provided me a vehicle, so did not use their "free" loaner. Was advised they only pay up to $500 on your deductible, so if I had a $1000 deductible I would pay the rest. Well since the deductible we carry was only $500 I expected to pay no deductible. Walsh also has numerous advertising as well as road sign that say this policy. Upon trying to pick up the vehicle was advised I had a $350 charge since they are didn't make a lot of the claim and they were only paying a percentage. I didn't expect the charge so I returned another day with my mother who proceeded to pay by check. The technician at the counter then advised her they didn't take checks. There is no sign or policy anywhere so she used her charge card which they happily accepted. Maybe being the dishonest place they are fear for the business is once you get your car back you will cancel your check, which has probably happen before with their dishonest business practice

Had my head gaskets replaced at Walshs on my truck and was extremely satisfied with them. Not only did they beat another shops price (by a lot!!) but the work was done pretty quickly and the office lady was absolutely wonderful to deal with. She explained all of the details to me and was really caring for my situation. I will be recommending Walshs to everyone I know!!

I stopped in this shop after being told I had a major repair at another shop just trying to get a second opinion. They looked at my vehicle for free and fixed it for 1/2 the price I was quoted at the other shop. Their staff was extremely nice, up front and honest and even had a mechanic come out to show me and help me understand what was really going on with my vehicle. Not to mention they gave me a FREE LOANER to haul my kids around in for the duration of the repairs. Denise the general manager was so helpful, easy to talk to, and understanding I would recommend this shop to anyone who has had less than stellar service, go to Walsh's you will see how your supposed to be treated. Thank you, once again Walsh's for your amazing work on my car it is running like new.

Had a great experience at Walsh's. They were honest and told me what I needed to fix asap and what could wait for a while. I really appreciate their honesty!! Good Christian honesty in business is hard to find now a days.

This shop should have an A+++!!!! I was just about to have my car fixed by another shop in town and decided to make a quick call to Walshs, even though I had never been there, but I'd heard good things. Thank God I did! They were a little bit cheaper but much more importantly they were super nice and treated my wife and I with respect which was really important because the shop I was at was extremely rude to my wife and as she would say "made her feel stupid". But the guy and lady that took care of us at Walshs was soooo nice and went into depth to explain everything and even showed us on our car. Anyways, a couple weeks after we got our car back from Walshs we hit a deer :( and took it right back to them. Once again, they were wonderful to deal with and they saved us $250!!!!! I don't pay too much attention to ratings and reviews on web sites because I know no one ever says things unless they are bad but I really felt we needed to put this out there and tell people how wonderful this repair shop is. Thank you to the Walsh family!

Review: On Nov.15 2014 at approximately 11:00 pm I was traveling west on Glacier Drive in the town of Barton out side of West Bend Wi there was a dusting to maybe an inch of snow that had fell earlier in the evening as I was driving up a steep hill I began to slide and ended up in a ditch 1 tire was still on the shoulder I was driving a 2000 Chevy S10 I called Washington County sheriffs department and a deputy arrived on sight He determined that he would need to call a tow truck and asked if I had a preference I asked that he just call the closest towing service and he had his dispatcher call Walsh Towing & Recovery which is the name listed on the billing invoice.

The Towing company sent a flat bed truck to the scene. as the truck attempted to drive up the hill to my vehicle it could not get traction they attempted to drive up with one tire on the grassy surface for traction which failed and the flat bed slid off the road and into a ditch the driver of the flat bed must have radioed for another truck to assist him as a second tow truck arrived on the scene.

By the time the second truck arrived the flat bed had used salt and floor dry to free itself and returned to the bottom of the hill where they and the second truck sat for at least an hour trying to determine their next move

Myself and the now two deputies on sight suggested they try entering from the top of the hill which was much closer to my vehicle but the towing drivers dismissed that idea and waited for a third truck from their company to arrive with 1000 lbs of salt before they could spread any of the salt they brought to the scene the township of Barton had dispatched a salt truck to the scene and had no trouble thoroughly salting the road way.

The flatbed was able to reach my truck and had freed it in a few minutes

There was a passenger in the flatbed who approached me with a clip board and explained that because of the difficulties in reaching my truck that they would have to charge me more than the customary amount and should me her paperwork with the amount of $225.00 A friend had come out to meet me with $300.00 in cash and we also had a credit card available as the woman from Walsh was ready to start recording my information on the billing statement a person who I believe to be [redacted] one of the owners of the business walked over took the clipboard looked at the amount charged and said "no no you can figure the charge will be three to four times that amount that he had $250,000 in equipment tied up for two hours" and that he was taking my truck and I should "call him Monday to discuss numbers "

he also gave me his business card

On Monday am I called him and he informed me the bill would be $960.00+ tax and storage of my truck. at approximately 12:30 pm Monday a friend of mine [redacted] went to the business and asked for an itemized statement which they gave us and disputed the amount of the charge she spoke with [redacted]. Again he stated that he had $250,000 in equipment tied up for two hours had three employees to pay for two hours had loaded 1000 lbs of salt on his personal truck and that someone was going to have to cover those expenses. Ms. [redacted] pointed out that those expenses were the fault of his driver and that it made no sense that I should have to pay for their lack of experience and mistakes that they made.

Mr. Walsh then exclaimed that He had nothing to do with the pricing because Washington county sets the rates and that his drivers we instructed that conditions were too dangerous to proceed with removing the vehicle by the deputies that were on sight which I do not believe to be true

after a great debate about the charge he reduced it to $750.00 + tax it cost a total of $792.00 to settle the bill and get my truck back

I do not feel that the charges are legitimate or a reasonable fee for the service that was rendered or that Walsh towing was within their legal right to take my vehicle without even giving me an estimate of what they would be charging me or an opportunity to pay the fee on sight

I am horrified that a business can conduct themselves this way and do not want one other consumer to be scammed by this company

I am willing to pay the customary charge which I have been told is considerably less than the $225.00 that was on the original invoice

I also took the bill to the Sheriffs dept and spoke with Sheriff Schulteis who photo copied the invoice and assured me that the county does not set pricing for towing companies and was also looking into removing this particular company from the county call list of tow services because of their questionable billing practices

I would appreciate any input or assistance that you could provideDesired Settlement: Pay a reasonable fee for services rendered ,refund overpayment , negative Revdex.com rating ,removal of company from the Washington county call list, and an apology would be nice

Response:

On Nov. 15th, 2014 Walshs Towing was dispatched by Washington County Police Dept. at about 10:30 p.m. to a tow. Washington County Police dispatched told us: vehicle located close to [redacted], vehicle is in the ditch, needs to be pulled out and taken to our location because customer can not pay the bill. We were also advised to be careful because the roads were very slippery.

Review: On December 13th I had my car towed to Walsh's so called "auto pro's", because my vehicle would not start. It was a Friday, so I understood that I would not get my vehicle back until after the weekend. The following wednesday I was told that the car was ready. When I picked up the car, it drove terribly. So I took it back to Walsh's. They told me I needed a new ignition coil. So then they replaced that, charging me another $125.00 dollars on top of the $228.00 dollars they had already charged me for so called "repairs". After they changed the coil, I picked up the car again, but it was still driving terribly. I was told not to worry about it, because there was water in my gas tank, and I just needed to use up the rest of the fuel. I barely made it to work that day. After I got off of work my car wouldn't even start! I called Walsh's back to complain, and they told me they'd send out a tow truck. They took it to Hillside auto body, It's also owned by Walsh's. After another day of getting the run around, I finally got fed up, and I went to pick up my car, but not before Hillside auto body charged me another $204.00 dollars in towing fees. I complained to them that if the repair work would've been done properly the first time I wouldn't have needed it towed. They told me sorry, there was nothing they could do about it. Frustrated, and irate. I took my car to my regular mechanic [redacted], at [redacted]'s auto body, in Waukesha Wi. [redacted]'s number is [redacted]. He told me that there was an ignition coil changed, but it was the wrong one that was changed. [redacted] fixed my car like new for another $150.00 dollars. I called Walsh's back to complain, and they basically told me sorry about your luck, but there was nothing they could do. I don't know about you, but that's not what I call Good customer service. After spending all that money I was unable to buy my kids Christmas presents, and now I'm struggling just to pay my bills. Revdex.com, please help me?Desired Settlement: I'd like to at least get back the 204.00 dollars I spent on having my car towed the second time. If Walsh's "auto pros" would've fixed my car properly the first time, I wouldn't have needed it towed again.

Response:

On December 13th [redacted] had Walshs's Towing tow in his 2001 Nissan Sentra which would not start. After diagnosing the problem at no charge to [redacted], we found that the vehicle had the wrong spark plugs installed prior to being at our shop and the vehicle had frozen fuel lines-he informed us a friend had done work on the vehicle before and it was probably him who installed the wrong spark plugs. After installing the correct spark plugs the vehicle started and ran but with a slight misfire. After more diagnosis (again at no charge to customer) we noticed that the fuel had a excessive water content. We added a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank to help alleviate the excessive water in fuel system. We explained the water in fuel to customer and that he should fill the vehicle with fresh fuel. The customer left with vehicle and turned around right away (did not leave the parking lot) and said his mechanic friend told him it was a ignition coil-we made him aware the water in the fuel was the issue and to diagnose more without fresh fuel or to install a ignition coil would not make
