Walter Silverstein, D.D.S., P.C. Reviews (3)

Review: I went to the One And Only Dental to have some work done on my teeth. I have United Health Care coverage and this dental office does accept my health insurance. Several procedures were done on my teeth; x-rays, cleaning, fillings and root canal. On March [redacted] 2013, April [redacted] and June [redacted], 2013 I had 4 fillings done to my teeth. [redacted] gave me two choices two choose from:1- Silver fillings that is covered by my Insurance Carrier;2- White filling that is not covered by my insurance as I was told by [redacted]Of course I chose to have white filling, which I paid a total of $640 to have 4 fillings ($160 per tooth)On the [redacted] of July 2013, the One And Only Dental office was booked and could not have [redacted] see me. Because I was in pain I went to another dental office called New Century Dental. I was required to have another tooth filling at New Century Dental for the pain to go away, I was shocked to find out that my insurance does in deed cover for white tooth filling. I called my insurance and I was assured that the procedure was in fact covered and my insurance carrier was at loss as to why they charged me at The One and Only dental to have white filling on my teeth and why they told me that my insurance covers only for the silver filling, which is not true because they also cover for the white filling. When I complained to the One And Only Dental I was told that [redacted] gave me a Better white filling than the one covered by my insurance, and that the one covered by my insurance is a cheap composite. In other words, the office made the decision on my behalf to choose the filling they want to put without informing me. The One and Only dental office never gave me the three choices which are:1-Silver filling (covered by my insurance)2-White filling (covered by my health insurance)3-Their Better white filling (NOT COVERED)They completely omitted the choice number 2 and they misled me to think that there are only two fillings: silver (covered by insurance) and white (not covered). Had they told me there is another white filling that is covered by my insurance, I would have chosen the one covered, my point was not to have silver in my mouth. If the One and Only Dental office told me that they do not offer option number two (2), I would have understood that there are other dentists who do offer this choice and I would have gone to one. As Im doing right now with the new dentist: The New Century Office who does provide option number two (2). Since I have been going to this new dentist I havent paid a penny for the white filling.I feel that The One and Only Dental Office misled me to sell me a product instead of being honest with me. Dentists are physicians that need to be trusted by their patients; unfortunately in my case I shouldnt have trusted [redacted]. He wasnt a professional dentist but only a salesman. My trust in [redacted] cost me $640.00If you need any additional information, please email me at [redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund the amount that was charged due to misleading information
