I have received your letter with the response from Sara B[redacted] of the Washington Family Dental Care.As I stated in my previous emails my goal was to have the Dental office remove me from the collections list. I see that they have agreed to do this and I hope this wiil be the case.I did not write this complaint in an attempt to receive dental care and then not pay for it.I was told by their office at the time of service that my share of the bill would be $102 which was paid on that day. I was not told by their staff that this was only an estimate and additional payments may be added. My complaint was solely based an their practice of telling me my upfront cost on the day of the visit and then adding the additional payment charged after the work was completed. Specifically the $152 bill I received weeks after the completion of the work. A 150 % increase in my share of the cost.I explained this to the office staff when I called on the day I received this bill and I also stated that I would make payments to get this payed down before any other work was scheduled .I received several calls and text messages for additional appointments from their office and I told them on the first phone call after I received the bill, and on subsequent calls received from their office for upcoming appointments that I need to cancel all future visits until this bill was paid .I have never received an additional bill after the fact for work done from any medical / Dental office in my 60 years. I do not agree with this practice but I made a $50 payment towards this bill which they accepted 2 days before I received the collections letter.I am assuming I was not making payments quick enough and that was the reason this was turned over to a collection agency.I have no complaints with the quality of the care and appreciate their ability to make an appt. for me on short notice but I believe most people would not be satisfied with this policy of additional payment due after work is completed.I am hopeful they will in the future verbally explain to their customers that the payment due upfront is only an estimate of what they believe the patient is required to pay pending the insurance companies response. I believe this will go a long way in preventing future issues. I have requested they provide me with a complete total cost for my work up front before I have any other visits.Thank you for looking into this complaint.[redacted]Regards,

Review: First I will start off by saying that I go to my dentist on a regular basis. I get a cleaning every three months and have a checkup every six months. I just had x-rays done at my current dentist six months ago. I came to Washington dental family care because of Stacie. She has been my hygienist for over 10 years. Yesterday was my first exam at Washington dental family care. Now, keep in mind I was just examined by my tenure dentist just six months ago with no issues. The doctor that examined me and Washington family dental care told me that I had 18 cavities and needed two root canals. Also wanted to put Arestin in my gums when there are no bleeding or unhealthy tissue issues. The longer I sat there the more x-rays that were done in the more issues they said they found in my mouth. It was nothing more than a sales gimmick to take money from me. You are supposed to be able to trust a doctor. I have contacted two other dentists that have seen me in the past 6 months. Both stated this evaluation cannot be possible. It takes in excess of six months to up to five years for a cavity to be determined to need to be filled. Is not possible for me to have gone from 0 to 18 in three months. This is gouging and bad sakes gimmicks at its best. Not proper medicine.Desired Settlement: Since I was there for four hours I did not receive a total or have any idea if I have a bill. I will not be paying for services that I did not need. False diagnosis and multiple unnecessary exrays I'm sure my insurance won't cover. I simply wanted a cleaning and a cleaning only. That I will pay for. Of course upon my leaving they refused to give me any copies of anything so I have no idea what Bill could be incurred. They did ask for my Social Security number so I am concerned.
