Review: I went into the Colonial Heights, VA branch office of One Main Financial in early April 2016 and paid the balance of my loan with a personal check. As of 5 May 16, the check has NOT cleared my bank. I have contacted One Main Financial and they stated that the check had been submitted to my bank for payment. My bank has no record of this check every being submitted. I believe that One Main Financial is holding my check. I believe that One Main Financial is hoping I will make a mistake in my checking account and not have the money to cover the payment when the check is finally submitted. I believe this practice is to collect extra fees by One Main Financial.

I have checked the Internet for reviews of One Main Financial. This practice of holding loan payoff checks has been reported by other consumers on the Internet.

One Main Financial continuously calls me in attempts to loan me more money. I have instructed them to take me off of their calling list to no avail.

This is a horrible business and the public should be made aware.Desired Settlement: As One Main Financial has been holding my check since early April 2016, I want One Main Financial to submit my personal check to my bank immediately for payment.

Immediately have One Main Financial stop calling me in attempts to lend me more money as I have requested numerous times for One Main Financial to take me off of their calling list.

Re: Case# [redacted]; [redacted] Dear Ms. [redacted]: OneMain Financial Group, LLC ("OneMain") is in receipt of Mr. [redacted]'s complaint, which you forwarded on his behalf. We have had an opportunity to review the issues raised and offer the following response. In his description , Mr. [redacted] indicates: 1. He paid the balance of his loan in full in early April 2016; however, the personal check he provided has not cleared his bank, and; 2. He is requesting for OneMain to stop calling him in attempt to lend him additional money and to be removed from the calling list. Our responses correspond with the numbered concerns above: 1. OneMain's Colonial Heights, Virginia office received a check in the amount of $10,385.59 on March 25, 2016, which was applied to Mr. [redacted]'s loan immediately and was included in the daily deposit to OneMain's bank account on March 25, 2016. As of the date of this response, OneMain has not received any indication that there is any issue with the personal check provided by Mr. [redacted]. OneMain considers Mr. [redacted]'s account as Paid in Full as of March 25, 2016. 2. We have updated our records to remove Mr. [redacted] from our calling and mailing lists. There is a possibility that he may receive one or two more solicitations before being completely removed . The removal process may take six to eight weeks to clear as we process mail campaigns six weeks ahead of the mail date. Once the removal process is complete, Mr. [redacted] will no longer receive any loan offers from OneMain Financial via telephone or at his address For your and Mr. [redacted]'s review, please find enclosed a copy of the check provided by Mr. [redacted], a copy of the deposit slip that included his ch eck on March 25, 2016, the receipt provided to Mr. [redacted] and a complete copy of his payment history.
