Today, November, 21, 2015. I made a purchase of Roman's Famous Meat and Seafood Store at 100 Main Street, Honesdale, PA. I bought herring which was thoroughly packed by the owner of the store. In about 10 minutes, a strange smell started in my car. It was coming from the package with the herring. When I opened the package, the smell was of rotten fish. I came back to the store and told the owner that this product is rotten, that I would like to return it, and have a refund. He refused to give me a refund, and tried to convince me that this is the smell of salt. This is an outrageous and dishonest attitude. I had to leave the store without a refund. I often buy herring in New York, and definitely can distinguish rotten product from fresh. This rotten fish could cause serious food poisoning. I highly recommend to people who purchase any product in this store to carefully check the freshness of these products.
