 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I [redacted] was given a one year warranty on my roof William L[redacted] consructed. It does not matter how nice the roof looked, what matters is that it was put on, with nails that had a grab of a inch and a half, it's not like anybody could see what  was constructed on my existing roof. Also to mention that he did not have all the materials when it was to late, after my roof was laying in the yard didn't solve a thing, why wouldn't William as a buisness owner say or go get the correct materials needed? The soffit and the facia have nothing to do with my roof coming off, if the soffit was the the wind still would have caught it and probaly would of happened sooner. With the facia not being up probaly actually helped the roof stay on as long as it did because the wind could go up and right out the other side. I have water damage and continue to get it with trying to save money up to have a new roof put on. I was given a one year workmanship gaurentee, not one year warranty for if something happens I have to repay for what I already had.

In April of 2014 [redacted] contacted me via [redacted]. She asked me how much it would cost to make her (trailer) roof “pitched.” I went to #[redacted] and looked ather roof and told her it could be as much as $6,000. [redacted] said, “That's way to...

high.” I called and lether know that if we get lumber from the mill I could do it for about $4,000 only because I would be able to get two rafters out of one board. [redacted] and I came to an agreement on $3,500, and I requested half of the $3,500 down to start, [redacted] informed me that she was getting everything but the lumber, and I had to get the lumber. Materials were there and I started to work. After I began working I had realized that [redacted] did not get the right screws or the hangers. I ended up using sixteen D framers for the nail gun with no hangers. I performed the job with the materials I was provided. I informed [redacted] that she should have me finish the soffit and fascia so it's all closed in. Once again, money was an issue and it did not get completed. Everything was good and everyone said how nice of a job I had done.Four months down the road, a tornado warning was issued in [redacted] County. High winds ripped her roof off causing it to go up twenty feet (confirmed by her neighbor) then it slammed down in her yard. [redacted] called me that night and told me I had to do something about her roof and I informed her that I was not responsible and that she should call her home owners insurance. [redacted] did not have homeowners insurance. The next day, I went to [redacted]'s house and looked at her roof to see if there was anything I could do. I informed [redacted] that if she bought the materials, I would provide the labor, which was more than generous. She didn't accept that offer and said I am responsible for everything.
However, I do not believe that I am responsible because [redacted] did not finish the job and because of that, high winds caused the roof to be ripped off. [redacted] failed to inform you that it was a “Trailer" built cheap. I believe that whether it was screws or nails, the roof still would have come off. If the roof was screwed, it would have ripped their whole roof off.Inside there are pictures for a reference on how the gable ends were left open and not finished.

Review: William L[redacted] made a new roof on top of my existing old roof on the dates of 05/03/14 and 05/04/14. When we had gotten a storm on 09/06/14 four months later the roof L[redacted] had constructed on top of my existing roof had detached and landed in my front yard wrapping around the tree and causing damage to my neighbors house. While the roof is laying in the yard you can see the nails that where used to secure the new roof to my existing roof which measure about a one and a half inch grab to the old roof not too mention most of the nails weren't hitting studs so most of them were only grabbing to my old tin, and there is about a three foot section that has no nails in it at all. Now from my understanding and after having several other contractors look at the roof he did that's laying in my front yard they tell me that the roof was "thrown together" and should have be strapped to my existing roof and none of this would have never happened. There was no soffit up because I didn't have money to pay for it at that time and L[redacted] claims it wouldn't have happened if the soffit was up, which is completely wrong, it wouldn't have happened if the roof was built the way it is suppose to be. I have water damage on the inside of my house and on the outside as well from the roof coming off. In my contract it states "gaurentee workmanship for a period of one year" and if you ask me and other contractors the roof wasn't even done with good workmanship to begin with. If my boyfriend and I would have knew he was just nailing the new roof to the existing roof that would have never happened, we wouldn't have allowed it. L[redacted] claims his insurance will not cover the damages because it was caused by the high wind, but he lacked to tell them that he completely messed up and never strapped the roof to my house let alone even screwed it down. L[redacted] also wants us to help pay for the new roof after I already paid for it once and am still paying on the loan I got for the roof.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund for my roof($3500) as well as the water damage done to my ceiling on the inside fixed which was estimated from a contractor at $1200.00. Also my neighbors damages fixed from my roof hitting their house.
