June 03, 2014
Dear [redacted] adopted a puppy, Australian Shepherd/Beagle Mix, from our [redacted] location on 3/30/14. The puppy was adopted after she filled out a adoption application, placed a $100.00 Deposit in the form of cash, then left, returned later that same day...

and paid the remaining $599.00 plus tax totaling $639.oo on a [redacted] Card.On 4/1/141 received a call from [redacted], stating that a close friend of hers had told her they believed her rescue puppy was a pit bull mix. She was convinced by this person that the dog would end up aggressive, uncontrolable with children and was not what she wanted. She proceeded to explain to me that her friend, raises pit bull puppies & breeds their animals. I informed [redacted] that they were completely irresponsible to breed the nations number 1 euthanized breed due to overpopulation, that the breed has no breed standardand regardless her dog was a rescue puppy that did not appear pit bull at all.
Later that day, as we expected, the dog showed up to be returned for worms. Which as any animal lover knows almost every puppy has worms at one point, passed from littermates or the mother. An easy treatment, not costly whatsoever, but [redacted]s daughter came in with the puppy. As she was crying, lip quivering because she was made to get rid of the puppy she loved for some nonsensical reason, she began to tell me firmly how dare we give them a sick dog.
Accompanied by her boyfriend, who was very polite, she was visibly upset, so I calmed her down and tried explaining to her that, in all honesty, your mother signed the sales receipts and adoption contracts, she would have to be here. So we had to get [redacted] on the phone, fax her a copy of the adoption release, in which she returned by fax. Authorizing her very upset daughter, to handle returning their adopted puppy or her.
A check was mailed, within 2 business days to the address we had on the adoption contract. Towards the end of the month the check wass sent back by the postal service for insufficient address. When [redacted] came in we gave her a check to cover the refund of the adoption fee, however we had just switched from [redacted] to [redacted] bank and the account numbers on our checks were wrong. So we refunded the adoption fee on her credit card. However [redacted] had given us the wrong card, not the one she used for the adoption fee.
During this time [redacted]s husband came back in the store on 4/7/14 and readopted the puppy.
The credit card company called us to inform us that the refund was being denied, they could not match the sale with the refund.
We had called [redacted] with no luck, she called the store after a few days. I informed her we would give her cahs and she would sign to the refund. She was aggressive, hostile and threatening to shut us down. This is why we do NOT give cash refunds because of people flip flopping around.
So [redacted] came in the [redacted] location on 5/3/14 and received, signed to, $700.00 cash refund.
There are several concerning factors here, first being the fact that between the complaint being filed on 5/2/14 and now, [redacted] has not addressed to your office she was given a FULL refund. Second that [redacted] has filed a fraudulent credit card chargeback, stating she was not present for the adoption and credit card sale on 3/30/14.
Unfortunately for us, credit card processors instantly deduct chargeback amounts from retailer accounts and hold the funds until a decision is made. As it stands right now [redacted] is claiming to of never signed/authorized or initiated the salea/doption on 3/30/14. Oddly enough she was the one who filled out an adoption contract, dated /30/14, filled out all adoption paperwork, dated /30/14, signed the credit card receipt along with her drivers license number written on the sales slip to verify. We do this for reasons, just like this one, verifying the person signing the slip was verified.
At this time [redacted] had paid $699.00 to Adopt a puppy, was refunded the money, her husband re adopted the puppy, [redacted] charged back on her card and was refunded $639.00. So in a sense [redacted] has paid $100.00 to Adopt the puppy.
At this time we will be filing charges of credit card fraud on [redacted] unless she contacts the credit card company or the issuing bank she uses, to reverse the chargeback.
[redacted] also contacted people who had conducted protests against our stores, when we sold pets, to recruit their assistance in going after me. Unfortunately for [redacted], it appears she is the one who is in the wrong here. We are no longer protested as an Adoption Rescue Center, those individuals are now welcorne in our store.
It is up to the Revdex.com on how the will proceed with this complaint. I have no interest in pursuing [redacted] if she simply rights the wrong and reverses the chargeback.
I am sending this exact info to he credit card company. Which by the way, after a lengthy discussion, stated they do NOTHING to go after credit card holders who initiate a fraudulent return. I informed them, that is disgusting and to do their job and pursue people comitting FRAUD. Maybe your office can look into that as well.I appreciate your time in this matter.
Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a 3 month old black lab puppy on 9/21/13 from We Love Pets for $750. It came to $795 with PA sales tax. I was told the dog was in good health with no parasites or other health conditions. After taking the puppy to the pet store's approved vet, Media Vet, it was discovered that the puppy had tapeworms. I was not comfortable with this as I am 6 months pregnant and have small children in the house. Not to mention, was told the puppy had been dewormed and didn't have any parasites, which was obviously not true. Also, my toddler was petrified of the puppy and it just wasn't working out, so I returned the puppy to the store on 9/21/13. I was told I would not be able to have a refund for the dog even though it says in their policy that if the dog has any health issues, that I could either exchange the puppy for one of equal or lesser value, or get a full refund. I was not satisfied with this answer since I know they were going to turn around and resell the puppy, so it's not like he was losing money by giving me a refund. He was profiting twice off the same dog. When we originally bought him, there was a returned german shepard for sale for $699.00. They were calling it an adoption fee. This is what they were going to do with the black lab I returned. I'm not sure how much they were going to sell him for since all the breeds are different prices, but they were going to sell him for several hundred dollars. They are not a rescue group. Someone adopting a puppy checks vet references and other info on you before giving you the dog. You have to be approved to adopt the animal and they're not selling the animal for profit. If you go to the SPCA to adopt an animal, you're going to pay around $100, not $700! We Love Pets is selling the dog twice and calling it selling it once and adopting it the second time. I don't see how this is legal. I had the dog for 6 days. I could see if I had him for several months, but it was 6 days and they resold him.Desired Settlement: I would be happy if they refunded half of the $795 I paid for the dog. They're not losing any money if they do it this way, since I know they already sold the dog to someone else.

Response:

[redacted]. [redacted] purchased the black Labrador puppy from our store on 9/21/13 in the amount of $750.00 + tax . The puppy was sold with our health warranty as well as a copy of PA Dog Law and a guarantee of good health, that states the dog appears healthy at time of sale to the best of our knowledge. It does not state the dog is 100% healthy, because there is no way to determine unless a licensed veterinarian is there at each sale that a puppy is healthy at purchase. The guarantee of good health is a good way to sell a puppy where we would disclose any ailments if we were aware of them at the time of purchase. The puppy had visited the veterinarian, was tested for parasites and had come up positive for internal parasites. The owners decided to treat the puppy, once treatment and billing begins you void return under PA Law. Also the law states ailments that are deemed a normal puppy aiiment are not eligible for return as parasites are very common among puppies and dogs. However the puppy was brought back to we love pets because the owners child was terrified of the puppy. We did fully disclose the puppy would be adopted out to a good home and not re sold. The puppy in turn was adopted out for less than $200.00 that covered the re examination fees as wetl as paperwork replacement etc. The puppy was not re sold, additionally a german shepherd puppy for adoption was in the store during the turn over of the Labrador. That puppy was not purchased by We Love Pets or sold from We Love pets, the dog was put up for adoption as an owner surrender. [redacted]. [redacted] did sign an adoption release form that states she is aware she is turning the puppy over to be adopted out and we do not compensate for a return or adoption. [redacted]. [redacted] unfortunately could not keep the puppy and signed the puppy over. We did fully explain if she tried other avenues to find the puppy a home she may receive compensation for the puppy but not at WLP or through we love pets. It is unfortunate that she was unable to keep the puppy but that is not at the fault of WLP. [redacted]. [redacted] did charge back on her credit card and lost the dispute. We are sending over the documentation on the release signed by [redacted] and related paperwork.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I returned a puppy within the guidelines of the contract (puppy was sick). I was told a refund would be mailed to me. It was not. So I went to the store and got a check but the bank would not cash it. Then I was told they would credit my debit card. They supposedly did that (and provided me with a receipt) but the credit has not hit my bank account.Desired Settlement: My credit card company is crediting me back $639 but I am still owed the amount I gave in cash for the deposit $100. I would like the $100 back.

Review: Purchased a puppy at the end of March. By Mid June, there was a growth in the corner of his right eye. Took him to vet, got medications to see if it was an infection that could be resolved with drops. 10 days later, after course of medicine was over, problem still there and was diagnosed with prolapsed third eye lid. Contacted We Love Pets, talked to sales associate about the problem, she said she would have to talk to other store manager and possibly the owner to find anything out. Called back, because they never called me, and she said she was surprised that no one had gotten in contact with me, and that they were not going to do anything about this.Desired Settlement: I would like them pay for the veterinary visits, the medicines, and for the cost of the corrective surgery for this particular medical condition.

Regarding: Puppy purchased by [redacted]

Purchased on: 3/30/13

**. [redacted] purchased a puppy from We Love Pets on 3/30/13. On 6/19/13 the puppy appeared to get "cherry eye" a condition in which is environmental. Cherry eye is not contagious or infectious & is most commonly caused from dirt, dust, hair or debris that irritates the eye, causing the eyelid to show a "cherry" appearance. On rare occasions eye gel or drops can reverse cherry eye, however they most often require surgical correction. This puppy had this issue almost 3 months from purchase, and regardless the first attempt to contact We Love Pets was made on 7/1/13 [over 3 months). If we did not call **. [redacted] back by the next day (as his history suggests) it may be because we had not been given adequate time to look into his issue or been awaiting paperwork to be faxed over. We understand how frustrating cherry eye can be, however unless his Veterinarian would be willing to put in writing the cherry eye was a hereditary condition, then we will not be covering the issue. The law states we are to be alerted of any potential congenital issue prior to treatment. Furthermore **. [redacted] was instructed to provide paperwork from his veterinarian on the issue for review by [redacted] Veterinary Hospital. To date we have not received any documentation on the issue. Feel free to call or write/email any questions you may have. Lastly it would make no sense for us to pay for any treatment or visits that did not work, or any issues we did not receive receipts and medical history to review.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

We were advised by our veterinarian that the condition is genetic and therefore the surgery should be covered under the contract that we received at purchase.

The response from We love pets did not actually address my issues.

We have all of the documentation needed to prove our request is legitimate.

Review: I’m writing today in regards to an AKC regisetrable Rottweiler ([redacted]), purchased on 6/29/2011. I’m unable to register my dog that I purchased from We Love Pets Inc., in [redacted], PA ([redacted]) because I was not issued a Dog Registration Application at time of purchase, which I did not realize until 4/8/2013, when I decided to register my Rottweiler with the AKC. Once the American Kennel Club informed me that I could not register my dog, which was from a litter of registered puppies (Litter #[redacted]). I then tried over an 11 week period to contact [redacted], the owner of We Love Pets Inc., by phone (###-###-#### & ###-###-####) and by stopping in both his store located in [redacted], PA and [redacted], PA ([redacted]) only to find out that he just left a store or he is in route to a store. I spoke with several of We Love Pets employees and mangers in both locations mostly with a gentleman by the name of [redacted], who I hand delivered on 4/27/2013 ([redacted] Store), requested copies of the Bill of Sale, receipt, and a puppy data sheet that was given to me at the time of purchase. I also left all my contact information, with [redacted] after giving it to him several times during phone conversations and at the [redacted] store were [redacted] introduced himself to me as the manger (prior to my visit to the [redacted] store). [redacted] informed me on 4/27/2013, when I delivered him the requested copies, that it would take the owner, who he identified as [redacted], about six weeks to come up with the Registration Application. I waited the six weeks and called [redacted] back at the [redacted] store, only to find out that the owner did have my information but he did not have any information on the registration at this time. I continued to call to speak to either of the owners [redacted] or [redacted]’s only to get “ He’s with a customer”, “ He just left the store”, “ Please call back”, or “ He’s on his way to the other store”. My last attempt to reach [redacted] was on 7/5/2013 at 2:29PM at the [redacted] store, when I was told he was with a customer and to call back in 15 minutes. I called back in exactly 15 minutes and was told he just left out the back door. This is when I decided to contact the AKC and the Revdex.com.

I’m now requesting assistance from the AKC and the Revdex.com, so I can register my Rottweiler with the AKC. I have provided all the request information that was ask of me by We Love Pets Inc. with no response from [redacted], the manager or [redacted], the owner. I would like for We Love Pets Inc., [redacted] to provided me with the proper paper work to register my dog, purchased from We Love Pets inc., with the AKC. I can be reached for any questions by mail or phone. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

[redacted]' [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to be given the proper paperwork to register my dog with the American Kennel Club or 75% of the purchase price of the dog including keeping my dog.
