Weatherguard Contractors Corp. Reviews (4)

Review: weatherguard was hired by myself to break rip out and replace all concrete on my entire property as specified in the agreed contract. weatherguard then sub contracted an unlicensed company to come and do the work. when the work was considered done by them it had cement with cracks craters and holes in it. it was unleveled causing water to be pitched towards my home instead of away to prevent water leaks into my home. the cement is uneven causing water to pool up in walk areas which freezes over during cold temps and creates a slip hazard for anyone walking by All the cement that was supposed to be in brand new condition was uneven and different colors of cement . For the next 3 months I contacted weather guards [redacted] at [redacted] as he continue to give me the run around and say he would be at my house the following day with no results because he didn't show up. I filed a dispute with [redacted] which is where I financed the job with they contacted him and he also stated to them he would be at my home [redacted] to start to redo the work and again no show. 4 more months pass now its been 7 months since this work was preformed and still no result [redacted] then tells me I have to "work with him" and not force him to do the repair because it would cost him too much money to fix it. He refused to redo the cement to meet the standards of what a licensed masonry company would do. He charged me $20,000 for this job. also he refused to put new cement is certain areas that were not damaged before he started the initial job even though it was clearly stated in contract NEW CEMENT ON ENTIRE PROPERTY FRONT BACK AND SIDES Everytime I spoke to another person from this company they claimed to be the owner just as it was sed that "[redacted]" was the owner which he wasn't . I have plenty of pictures to show poor workmanship of this company. these guys were very rude workers urinated in my backyard while working on the property and very very disrespectful to my wife and mother flirting with them and making sexual advances towards them as they came I and out of my home. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this company, if you want the work done right hire professionals NOT WEATHERGUARD contractors [redacted] ###-###-####Desired Settlement: I wish to have weatherguard contractors either come and redo the cement the way it should be or come to an agreement to refund majority of the payment

Dear to whom it may concern;I am answering/responding to complaint ID #[redacted]. WeatherGuard hasrespectably attempted resolution and contact with [redacted]. At our last servicemeeting we suggested and offered several solutions which was not acceptable to [redacted]. [redacted] is insisting on total replacement inlieu of small simplecorrections that are necessary. Weather guard has attempted since that meeting tocontact [redacted] to proceed with the corrections on several occasions withno response. We are ready, willing and able to resolve this matter. In addition anycontractors used by WeatherGuard are licensed and insured with proof. In a reasonableway we look forward to a resolution in this matter. WeatherGuard until this point in time has had zero complaints.Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I hired Weatherguard to complete my basement after Hurricane sandy. The total job cost $30,000 I provided them with half the money to get started they completed demo and that was it. I was left with a incomplete basement and they walked away with my down payment of $15,000Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my money.

Response:

Weatherguard Contractors Corp. was in contract with the [redacted]'s residing at [redacted]. Weatherguard Contractors Corp. currently has a lien on this property for non-payment. Weatherguard Contractors Corp. preformed above and beyond, but did not receive appropriate payments as planned and as scheduled.

Review: Weatherguard charged my elderly mom $3500 for a job that we have had estimates on since that were no more than $1300.00. In addition, the job was done poorly. The paint can be scrapped off the wall with a fingernail. There were no repairs done of the walls to smooth them out. I have tried for a month now to contact them to resolve the issue with no resolution.Desired Settlement: I would like my mother to receive a full refund. Because of the way they do business and the fact that I feel they tried to take advantage of my mother because of her age, I have no desire to do business with them in the future. They were non-responsive and are not trustworthy. The quality of work that they did is unacceptable.

Response:

It's deeply troubling that we are accused of taking advantage of anyone, despite their age. Weatherguard Contractors Corp. is a very professional business, we take pride in our work and price each job according to the scope of work, materials used as well as time frame. We feel we had appropriately priced [redacted] job. I would like to point out that [redacted] was not alone when our sales representative was at her home discussing the project and its price, [redacted] son was present for the meeting as well. There was another person, on behalf of [redacted] that heard the scope of work as well as the price. [redacted] willingly and knowingly entered into contract with Weatherguard Contractors Corp. [redacted] also had a 3 day grace period that allows her to cancel that contract with no obligations. [redacted] and her son agreed on the price, if they were unhappy after the initial contract signing, [redacted] had every opportunity to cancel her contract within the specified time period. As for the work/supplies used for the project at [redacted] home, we use the best material for the job within the budget of the project. [redacted] stated she was unhappy with the work, Weatherguard Contractors Corp immediately reached out to set an appointment to take care of the service call. [redacted] was unresponsive, she would not allow our workers to enter her home to see what might have been the issue resulting in our inability to rectify any problems if need be.[redacted] states that she has had other estimates for the same job Weatherguard has done at her home for a lesser cost. Each and every company will price work to their own knowledge and ability. The companies that left [redacted] the other estimates might not have been reputable, but we will not make any accusations or assumptions, we just simply price our work to the best of our knowledge and ability. [redacted] had every right to shop around for a price, if she was uncomfortable with our quote, she could have just as well kept it at that, a quote. We continue to reach out to [redacted] to no avail. We would like to see that this issue is taken care of and that [redacted] can be comfortable with the work that was done.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

My mother had no idea that she was being overcharged for the job and my brother states that he was there but not for the entire time of the conversation. My mother was under the impression that they were going to fix all of the imperfections in the wall and particularly an area in between the hallway and the living room where there had been a leak and the wall was damaged. They did not repair any of the walls, just painted over them. When my mother and I confronted the painter that was there that day, he said he was not told to make said repairs and that we needed a carpenter to fix it. We have since had a painter come in and make the repair that they neglected to do. Also, is it okay for them to overcharge my mother for the job because she did not know any better? In reference to Weatherguard trying to remedy the situation. I spoke with Jeff initially twice. On the second conversation, he said he was too busy to talk to me and would call me back to discuss the overcharge and the work. He called once, as per my mother, but I was out of town and he never called back. Even after I called him numerous times and asked for him to call me to remedy the situation before I took it a step further, he never did. I can produce my cell phone records which would document how many times I called Jeff and how many times my calls were returned. The painter called me once and said he was coming by and never did. When I filed a complaint with Better Business and with Consumer Affairs, then I got another phone call and the painter came out. He apologized and said he completely forgot to come out after his last phone call. I showed him what we were unhappy about and he said he would fix it. I never heard from him again. I spoke to Jeff two weeks later and he said they were not going to fix anything since I had filed a complaint and we would just have to wait and see how things were resolved with Consumer Affairs. As for the painters that gave us quotes -- two independent companies, they saw the job and had to laugh at it. They quoted us less than half what Weatherguard charged and that is with the repairs to the walls. I have taken pictures and attached some here. I have more pictures if needed. I was only allowed to attach four here.At this point, I do not want to do business with them anymore. I just want my mother's money refunded so we can get someone reputable and professional to do the job right.

Response:

[redacted] was not overcharged for the job, her and the salesrepresentative discussed pricing, agreed on price of $3,500.00 and signed acontract to acknowledge the agreed price. If [redacted] was not satisfied withthe price, she had no obligation to enter into contract with WeatherguardContractors Corp. If [redacted] is an elderly woman and feels she is easily takenadvantage of, perhaps her son could have stayed with her during theappointment. Mr. W[redacted] would never take advantage of anyone, he is a professionaland he did his job to the best of his ability. Mr. W[redacted] gave [redacted] a pricefor a project and [redacted] decided at that time it was an appropriate price.[redacted] had 3 days as stated in the contract to cancel; doing so would resultin a full refund of her deposit. If [redacted] felt the price was too high, she couldhave- over the 3 days, asked another contractor to come and price the job forher. [redacted] decided on the price of $3,500.00 and signed the contract, thisis no fault of Mr. W[redacted] or Weatherguard Contractors Corp. [redacted] should beheld accountable for her actions as she is a willing and able individual- andif she were not- her family should have stayed with her during the decisionmaking process. I have attached a copy of the contract between [redacted] andMr. W[redacted] on behalf of Weatherguard Contractors Corp., and it does not statethat Weatherguard is to fix any imperfections on the walls. The contract statesthat Weatherguard is only to repair the ceiling in hallway. [redacted] might haveassumed the walls would be repaired, but it is not stated in said contract norwas it discussed with Mr. W[redacted], therefore our painter is correct for notfixing any imperfections on the walls. Weatherguard Contractors Corp. has tried to reach out to [redacted]

[redacted] to remedy the situation regardless of Mr. W[redacted] statement that we would“wait and see how things were resolved,” which it was not confirmed that thisstatement was in fact said. Unfortunately we are only obligated to do the workthat was discussed in the contract between [redacted] and Mr. W[redacted], but ifthere is a valid complaint on the work that was done, that is covered in thecontract- Weatherguard will be more than willing to come see the issues anddiscuss a plan of action to remedy this situation.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

As a business, Weatherguard has a responsibility to make sure that their pricing and job specifications are fair and honest, whether a family member is available to be with my mother or not. My mother agreed to the price because she understood they were going to do something different from what they did. At this point, I would be satisfied with them coming out and fixing the job they did. I have received several quotes on the job which were half or less than the price that they gave my mother from reputable and licensed businesses. I ask that they come out and do the correctly, so that we can move this process along. My last conversation with Mr. W[redacted], he said that they are not going to do anything and just wait for the outcome on my complaints to Better Business and Consumer Affairs. I have attached some photos of their work.
