Ernie Weider, unbeknownst to the homeowner, paid another oil burner technician (i.e., $200.00) to pull a local permit since he does not have a license to install or repair oil burners. The homeowner determined his behavior to be devious & deceptive and in not in accordance with standard ethical practices. Additionally, Mr. Weider charged the homeowner for the purchase & installation of smoke alarms above and beyond the retail cost of same.

Mr. Weider displayed a poor sense of honesty and integrity when dealing with the homeowner. Moreover, he cannot be trusted with complying with the professional ethics required of an oil burner technician!

Weider improperly installed a new gas boiler and because of the mistake warranty wont cover it. Weider is non responsive to calls Weider Mechanical installed a Challenger boiler combo water heater In August of 2013. In Feb of 2014 I called Weider and reported a noise from the boiler he said he would be there on Monday Feb. 17. He never showed . I called him and began leaving messages regularly 1 to 2 a month he never once called me back.I called the manufacturer of the boiler Challenger boiler combo water heater . Gave me the local rep # . [redacted] Pluming. He came with a technician for Challenger (1/23/15) and determined that the boiler was installed wrong and the intake/outtake is ruining the motor and needs to be modified and the motor needs to be replaced. Aprox. a 1000.00 repair. warranty wont cover because it is not a manufacture defect it is a human error on the part of Weider Mechanical.I called Weider and explained the matter on a voice message . I gave him another 24 hours to respond, his message said he would . He did not respond to that message left on Friday Jan 23,2015.I paid 10,000.00 for the boiler and install to Weider upon completion of the install in full amount.The manufacture rep. stated that Weider Medicinal neglected to install a water pump that is a part of the instillation of the boiler and its not there causing water to drip into a bucket Weider left in place of the pump that should have been installed with the boiler . In the message to Weider Mechanical I did offer that he call [redacted] Pluming and that if Weider Mechanical made arrangements [redacted] can do the repairs and add the water pump at Weider Mechanical s expense .Still no response.The Tech. said the Motor can go at any moment and we would be without heat at that time until the repairs are made . the boiler motor makes a loud noise and is getting worse . I feel anxious that with North eastern storm season upon us I fear not having heat when I had a new boiler installed (conversion from oil) and am desperately calling Weider and have no response and I do not have $1000.00 dollars on hand . Berkshire gas is sending an impartial person to inspect why it is not running efficiently because I called [redacted] after they had sent letters explaining the we were using to much gas I explained the situation and they are coming Wed 1/28/15.Desired SettlementThe settlement I am seeking is the full cost of repairs to the intake / outtake and the motor replacement and placement of missing parts . To be done by a Plumber that I choose and paid for by [redacted]. The Manufacturer of the Challenger Boiler said that the cost would be aprox. $1000.00 dollars and 150.00 for the missing pump. [redacted] stated in a letter that we are using 30% more [redacted] than we should have been using. When [redacted] comes and finds no fault on the part of the meter the Tech. from Challenger said that the boiler was running harder that it should and it most likely is causing the extra expense of the [redacted] usage then I would like a refund of 30% of my [redacted] bill from Feb. of 2013 what the problem first started and [redacted] did not show up and never responded to my calls for help . If necessary I can have Berkshire Gas get that amount .That's the reality settlement in fantasy I would like the Boiler removed and a new one installed properly for the full $10,000.00 by a responsible Plumber .Business Response As a follow up to the complaint filed agents E [redacted] Mech we have read the letter that was composed by Mrs [redacted], although we disagree we do know the plumber that looked at the job in question. We will agree to pay the $1,000.00 providing we receive a copy of the on voice. I would like to state that in twenty-five years of plumbing service in Berkshire County I have never had a complaint file against me. I value this reputation. I would like to put this matter behind us. We will make a check available (not to exceed) $1,000.00 when we receive a copy of the work order or invoice stating that the work was completed and Mrs [redacted] is satisfied with said work. Thank you for your under standing in this matter and hope that it can be resolved as soon as possible. [redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXXConsumer Response Then I will need, from Mr. [redacted] , a letter of responsibly that he will pay the amount due upon completion to Mr. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] will then have to accept that Mr. [redacted] will pay him and be directly responsible for the payment . That way if Mr. [redacted] does not Pay , Mr. [redacted] can deal with Mr. [redacted] himself . I refuse to be bullied by Mr. [redacted] into having work performed that I don't trust that he will pay for . It will be my responsibility to pay Mr. [redacted] if Mr. [redacted] decides not to pay the bill . I don't trust him he's is a dirty business man that can't take care of his own responsibilities . . I don't have time for his games and I don't have time to be hauling him to court . But if he continues with his games then so mote it be .Thank You for your patients ,[redacted]
