Weissman Automotive, Inc. Reviews (2)

One of the mufflers fell off my 1987 International S1700. I drove up and asked if they’d help clamp it back on – they said I could leave it there and they’d look at it when the schedule opened up. Turned out I needed more than a few clamps. The exhaust I had was a custom job and replacement parts were hard to come by. Weissman Automotive not only got the job done in the time frame I needed – but came in under the estimated price. Thank you! 10/10 would go again!

Review: Had a set of tires put on my wheels I had just gotten powder coated. I explained to the counter person that I wanted extreme care taken so that the wheels weren't scratched or scuffed during mounting and balancing. When I received the wheels and tires, there were deep gouges from their tire machine on the inside of the rim, visible from the outside face. They had attempted to cover up the damage on one of the wheels with flat black paint, on satin black wheels and did not tell me this upon pick up. Very noticeable, very underhanded. The counter man, [redacted], admitted it was the technicians fault but [redacted], would only refund the money paid for mounting and balancing, he refused to pay the $450.00 it cost to redo powder coating. [redacted] said "Maybe if this were a high end wheel from a Lamborghini I could do something." So, apparently you need to drive a $300,000 car to get quality service here. [redacted] also said that the type of damage was unavoidable, which is untrue and verified by two other national tire shops I called. He was given a chance to correct the situation, and opted not to.Desired Settlement: Weissman Automotive to pay $400.00 for redoing powder coating, plus $50.00 it will cost to have the tires removed again prior to powder coating.

Response:

This is completely untrue,we not only refunded the full amount he paid for the mounting service he received but we did offer to repair the very small dimples on the unseen inside edge of his wheel at our expense, as redoing the entire set of wheels is unnecessary and we feel we are being exploited to pay for his powder coating entirely.

In eighteen years of business we have -until now- never had a complaint of the dimples made in the inside unseen surface of a wheel.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

If proper touch up can be done, (which I doubt would yield the same smooth and flawless finish I had prior to dealing with Weissman) it must be done at the facility that did them for me in the first place to guarantee color match and maintain warranty. Also, since Weissman has proven their shady nature with their attempted spray paint cover up, they cannot be trusted with my wheels. Weissman also does not have the proper equipment (proven by this scenario) to remove and re-install my tires without causing further damage. This will be done at the facility of MY choosing. Weissman continues to fail to address the fact that they DID in fact attempt a shady cover up with unmatched spray paint. Might a AGAIN remind you that YOUR employee admitted fault and FULL responsibility. As of now, you do not have the reputation or demeanor to deserve any leniency on my part. You've hurled insults at me and called me a liar. The out of context quote you referenced refers to the fact I travel on business a lot, so getting this done is a great burden to me. That quote has no bearing on your responsibility for damaging my property and attempting to cover up said damage. If this is not resolved to my satisfaction through Revdex.com, the resulting small claim will not only include the $450.00 for powder coating and remounting tires. it will also include a week's worth of car rental charges, since this process will cause me to be unable to use my vehicle for a week. YOUR technician screwed up, take responsibility for your employee's actions!

Regards,

Business
