Review: EVERYTHING about this move went wrong. I confirmed 4 movers to move out and move in furniture from an apartment to a house in 1 day. On day of move, 3 movers showed up and said it'd take 2 days. OVERCHARGED me on transit to and from their location to my old location at start of day, and from my new location to their location at end of day (no way 50 miles takes 90 minutes to drive). Didn't introduce themselves. Didn't inventory or provide any paperwork at start of the process. Disparaged my furniture ("it's crap," "TVs are dinosaurs"), home ("this place is a dump"), and location ("no way you'd catch me living here"). Didn't wrap furniture, resulting in considerable damage to new pieces of furniture (deep scratches and dings on wooden furniture). Unpacked into my home and literally THREW stuff--heavy boxes atop light boxes, boxes atop rolled-up rugs. Didn't put together bed (left frame standing against wall in bedroom, mattress in kitchen). BROKE several items (bookcases, mostly) by throwing them into a pile. Took frequent smoke breaks throughout the day. Repeatedly told me I'd have fun unpacking this mess--and they were right, because a MESS is what they left.Desired Settlement: I want other people considering a move in or near where this company works to be aware of their remarkably shoddy service.

Re: File #[redacted]; Attn: [redacted],

As it relates to the aforementioned file, thank you for the opportunity for rebuttal and please be advised of the following.

The customer making the complaint is [redacted], hereinafter referred to as SHIPPER.

On 6/13/13 the Shipper contacted our Johnstown office and inquired about a local move from [redacted] to [redacted]. Shipper spoke to our manager, [redacted]. As with all inquires of this nature, [redacted] asked several questions in order to prepare an EXTIMATE. Her move date was to be July 8 or 9. The Shipper told [redacted] that she had moved recently and she knew she had 9000# of goods. It is our standard that on a local move, any weight above 5500# should be bid using 2 days. The first day is to pack and load, second day to deliver. Following protocol, [redacted] quoted this Shipper in this fashion. A move of this nature (local) is priced on a $ per hour basis, calculating charges for the number of men and number of truck needed to perform. A job of this size requires 3 men and one truck. A normal rule of thumb for estimating purposes is to use 1000# per hour. Hence, [redacted] Estimated around 9 - 10 hours plus an hour travel time. Our posted hourly rate for 3 men and a truck is $105.00 per hour, plus the tariff permitted fuel surcharge that is based upon mileage. On this job the fuel surcharge was $39.80 per day. That is calculated by the Department of Transportation not by us. And the travel time is ONE hour—So her argument about transit time is moot-it does not matter how long it takes us to get to a job and to get home-the consumer only gets charged ONE hour. We also DO not charge for our 30-minute lunch break! ?

The Shipper immediately started asking how [redacted] could get the price reduced. [redacted] mentioned that if the Shipper wanted to take some boxes, small items from hew old to new residence, that would reduce the weight and would then reduce the number of hours needed and consequently reduce the price. According to [redacted] and our office manager, the Shipper called numerous times to ask us to cut our costs. She also told [redacted] on occasions that she had indeed moved many of the boxes, and other items and all that would be left was the "big furniture". Consequently [redacted] said that if that was the case, we would try to cut the move down to one day, which would then save her travel time and fuel surcharge on the second day. [redacted] had trepidation about the move due to the number of calls this Shipper made, and how she was constantly asking us to cut the price. For your knowledge, the Commonwealth of PA is a regulated state for movers, and we have posted rates of which we are NOT permitted to deviate from—up or down!

From our office to the Shipper’s Origin residence in [redacted] is 50 miles. But we only charge 1 hour per day, even though it is likely a 2.5 hour travel time to and from. So on July 8 our crew of three men leaves our office at 7:30 AM. When they get to her residence they called [redacted] and said that there was a lot of furniture to move and that it was going to take ALL day. [redacted] told the crew they HAD to get it done in one day because he had them planned for another job the next day. (Please remember the Shipper told us she had moved most of the items herself and only the "big" furniture remained). So the men begin to prep the house and move the items into the truck. And the fact is,

we DID DO THE MOVE IN ONE DAY. So the Shipper is unconditionally wrong when she makes reference to overcharging for travel time.

THE worst customer experience I've ever had when hiring a service. Completely unprofessional, the company does not care one bit about their customer. We hired them the end of September 2015. Our job wasn't completed, they had removed a window to bring down a mattress and never replaced the window, the movers complained the whole time. One of them actually got in my face and started screaming at me. He was becoming more aggitated throughout the day. I was alone in the house because my husband was at our new house with the cable. Guy I started shaking and crying and called my husband because at that point I was actually afraid to be alone with those guys. They rolled their eyes when I'd ask them to do something. The job was never finished and we ended up moving the rest of the stuff out the next day. When I called the office I got attitude until I told her about how the one guy talked to me. Then she backed off. She told me that wasn't acceptable and she'd speak to her higher up about what kind of compensation they could offer me. It's now 6 months later. I never heard a thing back and never received anything from them at all. We paid $1500 and didn't get anything we paid for. And this is just a brief overview of the nightmare we experienced
