When a representative form the Women's Health office called to give me the results of my blood tests, I requested as I had for the past 20 years that a copy of my tests be mailed to me. I was told I needed to come in and sign a release to "MYSELF" the patient!
She called me, the patient, to give the results over the phone so there wasn't an identity issue. I am 20 miles from the office. I understand releases to share patient information with others, but the patient! They are my records, about me, and I pay for them. I was told this is the policy of this group. Although I have the utmost respect for my doctor and value this relationship, I shall consider other care. I tried to resolve this by phone, but every entity in this group has the same phone number, and the filtering before you can talk to the person who can resolve this, prevents interaction. I asked for the contact info for the "manager of the managers" and was told by the operator that they weren't authorized to give out that info.
I asked for the President of the Board of Directors name and number. I was again told the name but the phone contact was the same "filtering" phone number I called. I asked how I could get in touch with my doctor, and again was given the same phone number. It is a very frustrating experience for the patient/consumer to find the opportunity to share concerns with anyone in this group and arrive at resolution of these concerns.
The administrator/management of this group is a great disservice, in my opinion, for the talented doctors associated with Women's Specialty Care.
