Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I have checked my mailbox including the junk mail and there is no email from the new jersey Revdex.com regarding my complaint The first email received was at 6:52 this morning Additionally, your website says wait weeks for a response There was no information passed onto me from Weltman There response was also inaccurate This was not justice Labor and paperwork do not amount to $ How could the replacement UNDER WARRANTY cost more than a new Hot Water Heater? This has not been resolved To summarize my complaint, in my opinion, this company does not deserve the AAA rating from the Revdex.com I was initially overcharged in by hundreds of dollars for a basic water heater after requesting a top of the line model and it was only after threatening to go to the Revdex.com that Weltman refunded some of the money
Furthermore, after purchase of my new water heater and having other companies supply me with labor invoices for a water heater replacement that is UNDER WARRANTY, that I can say with certainty that Weltman's charge was at least $too much Keep in mind that in December a brand NEW water heater advertised on their website was $installed This is NOT A REPUTABLE company If you are a consumer and have a choice, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE!*** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
My request to Weltman to better server its customers in future is to have more competent technicians, because couple of bad diagnoses here and there lead to lot of hardship and financial damage for the customer as was evident in my case. And also have a better warrantly plan, where a technician cannot ask for another hefty sum to diagnose for the same problem which never got fixed earlier

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].  I will accept the settlement although this is not the settlement that was agreed upon; I was told by the merchant that I would be charged $200.  Thus my refund would have been $328.58, not $200.  It is unfortunate that the merchant will not honor the original agreement.
I thank the Revdex.com for its help.

Dear Mr. [redacted] and the Revdex.com,
Mr. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] (General Manager at Weltman Home Services) had a discussion earlier this week and reviewed Mr. [redacted] complaint. It was agreed upon by both parties during the call that we would refund Mr. [redacted] $200.00 to his credit card...

on file.  This typically takes 5 business days, no more than, from our business office.  A letter documenting the call and the refund was sent out in the mail yesterday 5/21/14 to Mr. [redacted].  He should be receiving that in his mail no later than 5/24/14. The refund/credit to Mr. [redacted] credit card on file will be credited by end of day 5/22/14 if not sooner.  [redacted] has addressed the pricing/estimate issue directly with the technician who was on the call.  It is our protocol and practice to submit estimates and receive customer approval at the inception of every job performed.

Weltman came to my home in August of 2015 because my air wasn't working great. THey tol dme the unit was broke and I need a new one. GOt a second opion and my unit was fine. Called them again Thursday cause my heat wasn't working. THye came and told me it was broken and for $9300 I need to get a new uit or heat will never work. I called and got a second opion and my heat works fine! Totally not broken at all. I almost paid them $9300. They obviously had no clue

Review: I purchased 2 HVAC systems in February 2015. According to my contract/invoice I was to be billed by [redacted] $1600 per month to receive 12 months interest free. After receiving my most recent statement I realized I was not being billed this amount and now I exceeded my 12 months, I was then charged over $5,066.99 in interest fees. I immediately contacted [redacted] and Weltman to resolve/pay the remaining balance to dissolve the interest fee. Weltman said I was not being charged the correct amount on my invoices from [redacted] and it is not their responsibility. I was told by the Weltman salesman I would be charged a specific amount and was given false information. I want to receive half the interest charge fees accumulated from their false information.Desired Settlement: $2,500

Response:

When [redacted] HVAC system was purchased in February 2015 it clearly states on the invoice that it was for 12 months financing. At completion of the installation Weltman Home Services turned all information over to the finance company, [redacted]. At this point, Weltman Home Services is no longer involved with the financing as this now becomes a contract between the customer ([redacted]) and [redacted]. What we do know is that [redacted] in turn sends out a welcome package along with their first invoice which would have arrived to [redacted] sometime in March, 2015. The [redacted] started receiving invoices every month outlining their payment terms and the program that they were enrolled in along with all the account information. As a courtesy Weltman Home Services did reach out to [redacted] to see if there was any leeway and at that time [redacted] informed us that the problem came from a late payment. [redacted] need to follow this complaint up directly with [redacted]. It is the responsibility of the consumer to make sure they read all of the payment terms and make timely payments in order avoid fines and penalties from the finance company.

Review: I called Weltman Home Services to repair the water heater at my home on 12/1/13.A technician showed up on 12/2, declared that the Gas Control Valve was faulty, and gave an estimate of about $814 to replace and repair the valve. This heater was just 1 year old, and I always believed water heaters never break down so soon, but I still took his advice thinking he was the expert.Next day I was told it will take 3-4 days to get the part. I rushed myself to get the new part the same day for $304. I contacted Weltman again to install the part asap. They showed up on 12/3 to install valve, charged me $478 and left. But this did not fix the problem at all. The diagnosis and service should have been in warranty for 90 days as per agreement.

I called Weltman again, when problem persisted. Another technician showed up on 12/23/13, this time he said there was possibly an issue with ventilation and not heater, but it could also be a faulty motor. To confirm, it would be another $350. Upon my complaining this should be a repair in warranty, since I already paid $478 to fix the gas control valve earlier, he refused to budge saying this was the process. Said he does not know the story with the valve earlier since it was a different technician, and even whether it was faulty or not. Further he said, another $450 to fix, if motor was faulty. The argument with him not going anywhere, and total cost of suggested repairs almost near the cost of a new water heater, I decided to replace the heater. Very disappointed with technician attitude and Weltman,I spent around $1200 to get new heater which Sears came to install, but even the new heater failed to start. Upon which, the Sears technician told me that there is an issue with ventilation. At this point, it was confirmed there was never any problem in either new or old water heater and it was the faulty ventilation causing water heater not to work properly. Upon fixing the ventilation next day, new water heater immediately started workingDesired Settlement: Since it was clearly a case of very poor diagnosis, service and customer treatment from Weltman Home Services, where they unnecessarily changed a good Gas control valve on almost a new water heater, then demanded hundreds of more dollars to confirm the diagnosis for same problem for which they already charged around $ 500 earlier, resulting in much more financial damage for me by forcing me to decide to replace a good almost new water heater, and also let the problem drag for several weeks causing lot of hardship and misery without hot water for myself and my tenants. I demand a refund of at least $ 478 which they charged me for replacing the valve, which in hind sight was perfectly fine. Even though, ideally I should be refunded the cost of new water heater, which was a result of their purposefully incorrect diagnosis, and then refusing to re-diagnose it correctly in warranty period of 90 days.

Review: In June of 2009 I purchased and had installed in my home a Rheem Hot Water Heater from Weltman Home Services. I was extremely OVER CHARGED for the product and service and a partial refund was given after I called back the next day. The warranty on the Rheem hot water heater was 6 years. Fast Forward to Sunday, December 14 2014 when the Hot Water Heater failed. On Monday, December 15th I reluctantly called Weltman because the hot water heater was still under warranty. The Serviceman arrived at my home at 12:15 pm and said yes, the water heater is still under warranty let me go back and get a quote for labor. Following is a direct quote from the invoice that I wish I could scan an upload "We will replace under warranty your 50 gallon gas fired water heater which includes all piping and connections and removal of your old faulty water heater. Cost of Water Heater is covered under 6 year warranty. Customer pays LABOR ONLY. STANDARD PRICE: $1,306.00 SPP (SERVICE PLAN PRICE): 1,175.00. " I asked him was this a joke? The labor for a job that would take less than 1 hour is $1,306? He said yes, this is what Weltman charges. On the Weltman sight this months special was a Water Heater installed for $1200. I asked the Serviceman to leave my home. The Labor charge is for a brand new Water Heater. This is CRIMINAL behavior and a very UNSCRUPULOUS company. Instead of providing good service and making me want them to be my go to company, I will NEVER use them again. I was left with a folder with the quoted Service Invoice and information on the Customer Referral Program. These are reasons to NOT CHOOSE WELTMAN for your home!Desired Settlement: Company needs to make this right. Refund the cost of the Hot Water Heater that I had to replace. At the least, I should have a brand new Hot Water Heater.

Business

Response:

When we did the initial work in 2009 the customer in reference received a generous concession off the original price charged. The estimate left on 12/15/14 was not just for the labor as stated. It also included pricing for transportation, handling, permit fee, warranty paperwork, assembly and installation of components, scrap and waste removal.

The first email received was at 6:52 this morning. Additionally, your website says wait 2 weeks for a response. There was no information passed onto me from Weltman. There response was also inaccurate. This was not justice. Labor and paperwork do not amount to $1309. How could the replacement UNDER WARRANTY cost more than a new Hot Water Heater? This has not been resolved. To summarize my complaint, in my opinion, this company does not deserve the AAA rating from the Revdex.com. Review: I have a service contract in place with Weltman whereby they came onsite to perform a routine oil change on my whole-house back-up power generator. Two days after the oil change was completed, the generator showed a "low oil pressure" warning. I contacted Weltman to come and repair the unit when I noticed the generator was not working and Weltman responded by attempting to change the oil again after they diagnosed that a high level of water was present in the generator's oil. The oil changes failed to fix the problem and I have now been waiting over three weeks for Weltman to fix the issue despite repeated attempts to contact the company. Weltman constantly claims that they are trying to schedule a sub-contractor to fix the problem and are contacting the manufacturer for a claim number but not once has Weltman proactively contacted me about the problem. Additionally, nobody at Weltman has been able to explain what exactly they are attempting to claim from the generator's manufacturer.Desired Settlement: I would like Weltman to immediately fix the issue that they, by their own admission likely caused to my generator. I have repeatedly asked for a manager to call me, but have not heard from anyone at the company proactively. I have had to call their customer service line on my own only to be told the same story time and time again.

Business

Response:

We have been in constant contact with customer. We have informed him that due to the fact that this is a manufacturer warranty issue (company [redacted] we are waiting from [redacted] for the information. We have requested the information several times. We have also informed the customer that should he lose power for any reason between now and the time that this is resolved we would take care of any power issues at him home with portable generators. The General Manager of Weltman Home Services is working diligently on this case to have it resolved.

I am rejecting this response because:

I have repeatedly requested to speak with a manager at Weltman and have not heard from anyone. I have repeatedly called Weltman for updates and have not once heard from them proactively. Additionally, I have asked specifically to know what the [redacted] claim is for and have not gotten any answers. No subcontractor has visited my house to diagnose the problem and nobody from Weltman has been able to explain a course of action aside from saying they've requested a claim number from [redacted]. Additionally, I have no assurance from [redacted] or any subcontractor they have hired that the issue with the generator is one that will be covered by the manufacturer warranty since the problem (per Weltman's admission) seems to be caused by their action after changing the oil.

Response:

Weltman Home Services has diligently been trying to get the warranty/claim number from [redacted]. [redacted] has been contacted several times with our request. Due to the fact that we were not the installing contractor on [redacted] Generator it makes it a more difficult to retrieve any warranty/paperwork because we are not in original possession of it. We are working diligently to have this issue resolved. Weltman Home Services General Manager is in charge as the main point of contact and is very aware and working to get this completed.

Review: my parents are elderly my father 83 my mom is 80.I am there son [redacted] writing this on there behalf.a technichian at weltmans plumbing did work in my parents home on april 14th.they installed 8 feet of pvc piping to a pie that had a leak in the basement.they cut out 2ft by 4 ft of wall, snaked a drain and charged my parents $6900.00.the rep took advantage of senior citizens.after my parents told me the price I was very upset.I had 3 plumbers give me prices of $900 to $1500.I was told a supervisor was going to call me back today by a rep called me back and was very rude..I am very upset.my parents were taken advantage of by weltman,They claim they don't charge by the hour but by the job, and the rep does not think that $7000 is a lot for an 8 foot pipe and to knock down a part wall.I will be contacting my attorney as well..this company has no integrity.Desired Settlement: I wanted to get back the money I was overcharged at a fair price the job is no where near $7000...we are willing to pay but not that amount..that is outragous

Business

Response:

We have been in correspondence with the customers grown children and have settled this matter. We are waiting on a signed release from the son of the customer stating that he is agreeable with our terms and we are returning the full amount charged. This is due to the fact that the son of customer claims his elderly father has dementia and was unable at the time to make the correct decisions in his home repair needs. Once I am in receipt of the signed release I will also send a copy of that to you at the Revdex.com. If you have any additional questions please contact me at [redacted] Thank you, [redacted]

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:[redacted] called Weltman to fix a clogged drain. The plumber [redacted] snaked the pipe and broke it. He was negligent in breaking the pipe and caused it to leak. He then charged $7,000 to replace 8 feet of pvc piping. This is 6x the amount supposed to be charged for this job. Also the reason for this complaint was his negligence and how he took advantage of these people. We are accepting the full refund but not their response to this complaint. The plumber also damaged the kitchen wall and floor in the process which has to be repaired by the homeowner. The company is fortunate that no legal action is being pursued.

Review: On Wednesday 5/14/14, I had a representative form Weltman Home Services come to my house to check a problem with my air conditioner. He said he thought it was a simple solution...it just needed a new thermostat. He asked me which thermostat I would like, the one that is less complicated or more complicated. I told him I would like the least complicated one. He then installed the thermostat without giving me any quote...since he said it was a simple fix, I was shocked when he presented me with a bill for $528.58. BecauseI had no option but to pay, I gave him my Visa but, after he left, I went online and found that the thermostat costs $30. I then called the Weltman Office to complain. I was told that someone would call me back. A few hours later I received a call from a man at the office. I complained about the astronomical charge for a simple thermostat installation. I indicated that the bill was not itemized and no quote had been given before the work was done. He admitted that the man, [redacted], was wrong in not giving me a quote before he did the work. I asked him didn't he think $528.58 was outrageous for a $30 thermostat installation. He said it was a little high but he said he has other charges to factor in such as the training his workers undergo. He finally asked me what do I think I should pay....I told him that thought the job would be around $150, He agreed to only charge me $200 and said I would see the charge back on my credit card within 5 to 7 days. It is now a week later and the credit card company has received no request from the merchant to charge back my card. I feel that such business practices are unacceptable...no giving a quote, not itemizing the work done (my bill just indicates remove and replace thermostat), price gouging, failure to honor the refund that I was told I would receive., etc.Desired Settlement: I expect the merchant to charge back the amount he agreed to refund on my credit card. The payment of $528.58 that was made on my Visa should be adjusted to reflect a sum on only $200 as he told me.
