Werner Bus Lines Inc. Reviews (4)

Review: On Saturday, 19 July, 2014, I was in [redacted] at [redacted] Travel and purchased a ticket to go to the Casino's in [redacted], via Werner Bus co.and thw bus was supposed to leave at 10:30am est. Because Werner had a problem with a bus in Philadelphia(not the one that was supposed to pick us up)They delayed our departure and sent a bus to pick us up that was 45 minutes late. They also sent another bus to pick up passengers in [redacted] and [redacted], to be brought to us and we had to wait for them. We did not leave the [redacted] pick-up sight until 12:30 est.(2 hrs. late) We took a slow ride to [redacted] and didn't arrive until 2:45pm est.The information on their Bus schedule states that the passengers will get 6 hrs. at the Casino, and will be picked up after the 6 hr. period. This did not happen because after the driver got us there late, he stated that he was going to leave at 6:30pm est., giving us 3 3/4hrs. The passengers all complained so out of the goodness of his heart, the driver gave us until 7:00 pm est.All of which is contrary to the information on the shuedule and description of the trip. I called the company twice and got a run-around. I was told that "Tom" handled all complaints and he wasn't there but would call me back. I spoke to "Heather" that day, Monday 21 July , 2014..Then on Wednesday,23July, 2014, I called back to see if Tom was there and he was. I spoke to him and started to explain what happened and he interrupted me and put me on hold. When he came back on the line,he stated that he does not handle those complaints and didn't know why Heather told me that I asked who handles the complaints and he told me 'Heath". I then asked if Heath was there and he answered yes. He switched me over to Heath and I got his voice mail.

The bus we took down to [redacted] was in bad condition and the brakes were making such loud noises that every time the driver applied the brakes, other drivers looked at the bus to make sure they didn't get hit.Desired Settlement: I was only asking for two new tickets to [redacted] to offset the travestity that took on Saturday, 19 July, 2014.

Review: I am writing this report as the representative of 49 passengers (all senior citizens) who rode WERNER COACH ([redacted], PA) buses on October 11, 2014, to New York City from [redacted], PA and return. As described below, I believe there were serious safety violations that could have led to injuries to our group. We contracted for a safe clean bus. The round trip bus rides were far from safe. This was a clear breach of contract on Werner Coach's partr.

For the past 10 years we have been using another bus company for our trips to New York. This particular company was busy for our trip on October 11, so we decided to use Werner Coach. Our bus (#[redacted]) broke down at mile marker 99.8 on the New Jersey turnpike. The bus pulled into the breakdown lane, extending marginally into the right hand lane of traffic. The bus had no flares or reflectors. Traffic was passing us at a high rate of speed causing the bus to shake continuously. The bus driver made no attempt to inform us as to what was going on. After several minutes of no action by the bus driver, one of our passengers called the N.J. State Police to get flares deployed and to stop traffic once the replacement bus arrived. After a 2+ hour wait, another Werner Coach bus was detoured from Brooklyn to take us to New York.

A third Werner Coach bus (#[redacted]) picked us up in New York to take us home. Both our original driver, plus the driver of the replacement bus were there. We boarded and were told the door would not stay shut and the right side mirror was broken (photo documentation already supplied to Werner). Apparently, the driver did not feel this was a safety problem, and we left N.Y. with one of the drivers sitting on the steps holding the door shut by hand and with a rope (photo documentation supplied to Werner), while the other drove. During the return trip, the rope broke and we had to leave the turnpike to obtain another rope. Because of the lack of a right hand side view mirror, we drove back to [redacted], PA in the right hand lane, never going over 50 mph. Fortunately, the door remained shut as long as the second driver held the rope.

I reported the incident to Werner first thing October 13 relating our experience and requesting some form of consideration based on our horrible experience with them. After answering my first call, Werner never answered other attempts to contact them, nor did they ever return my voicemail messages or respond to subsequent written correspondence.

In addition to the above safety violations, the toilet on bus #[redacted] had not been serviced prior to our trip, giving off a terrible stench to those having to use the bathroom or sitting in the back of the bus.Desired Settlement: Refund of the entire $1540 we Paid for the round trip, or a major portion of that amount.

Review: Dear **. [redacted]:

I chartered one of your buses (#[redacted]) on Sunday, August 4, 2013 for a trip to [redacted], Virginia. When your bus arrived I was very disappointed because the bus was antiquated (1997).

I called and left you a message on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 @ 1:30 p.m. and you haven’t returned my call. I purposely didn’t call you on Monday, August 5th because I wanted to see if someone from your company would give me a call due to all the problems with the bus and give you time to review the report the driver stated that he was going to submit.

On Wednesday, August 7th @ 4:12 p.m., I called again and left a message on your answering machine.

The same day, I called the general number and reached [redacted] and informed her that I left a couple of messages for you about the problems I had with the bus. She transferred me to your secretary ([redacted]). When I spoke to her she said that you were on the phone. She took my information and stated that she will have you give me a call. Heath and he never called me back. She left another message with your secretary ([redacted]). You returned my call the same day around 5:10 p.m. and I informed you about the following:

Microphone

There was not microphone so I had to shout when making announcements.

Video

I paid an extra fee for use of the video and one of the screens was inoperative.

Door

When the door was shut you could see on the outside on the side and hear the

sound of the wind which made it difficult for those sitting in the front seats to hear

the movies.

Shocks

Your company should have never sent a bus to travel that distance with these severe conditions. The shocks were terrible. It’s no way it could have been unnoticed. The entire ride was bouncy and I became sick from the motion. As the leader, I couldn’t take on the tasks that I planned because I became ill. I had to

have someone else take on my responsibilities. When we finally arrived to the

church, I had to lie down and I missed the morning service. (This was the purpose

of the trip to attend service)

Transmission

Again, your company should have never sent a bus to travel that distance with

these severe conditions. The bus cut off a few times going which made us late for

service. Once, we pulled over to the emergency lane. Returning home was worst.

We were traveling on Route 95 and the traffic was very heavy. The bus cut off 3

times and each time the driver pulled over in the emergency lane. It was almost

dark. The cars were flying pass the bus because we were hardly moving. This

made everyone very nervous and upset. The driver finally said he cannot continue

to drive this bus in this condition and he is not going to take the risk. I said to him

that I agree and I wouldn’t want you to and it’s not worth us getting hurt out here on

this highway. He finally made it to an exit which was a truck stop around 8:30 p.m.

(There were only vending machines) We waited there until 1:30 a.m. It was cold,

people were tired, hungry, missed their insulin, ride for family/friends to pick them

up upon their return home and lost sleep for work. Your company put us in a very

dangerous situation with the condition of this bus.

Once we arrived at the truck stop the driver called for a replacement bus. I called and received the answering service and spoke to a young lady name [redacted] and explained the situation. She informed me that she would place the call and let your company know of the situation. While I was speaking she cut my conversation and rushed me off the phone and was very rude.

I made another telephone call and spoke to [redacted] and told her the situation. I asked her why she couldn’t call a bus company that is located in the surrounding area. She claimed that she called 3 bus companies close by. I knew that wasn’t true because one of the companies she named is located out of [redacted], PA which is “[redacted]’s”. I stated that your company owes me a refund and she said that they don’t give refunds.

The replacement bus arrived at 1:24 a.m. and we arrived home at 3:45 a.m. I was so furious about the way the company handled the situation. I had to ensure that people had a way to get home because their rides were not there to take them home. It was very late and dangerous for women and children to be out and alone by themselves that time of hour.

Since your company knew about the situation, I assumed that someone from your company would have called me the next day. (Never received a call)

After you heard my about the experience of my trip you apologized and said that you were sorry that this happened and you can imagine how I feel. You told me that you would reimburse me for the video. I said I should get more than just for the video. You can’t pay me for being sick, missing the service and putting us in danger for having to travel back home at 3:45 a.m. in the morning by ourselves. There were women, seniors that had to travel alone. You then asked me what did I want you to do. I stated that I should get a refund because you placed us in a dangerous situation. First you said that you would give me $200.00 towards my next trip. I said that will not work because if I did give a trip and people know I chartered your company, they would not go because of this experience. I then said that I can’t blame them. Then you offered me $500.00. I said it will be the same thing and this is not going to work. I then said thank God the situation wasn’t any worst then what it was because the bus could have been in an accident and we got hurt. We would then be having another type of conversation. You said you’re right and I understand your frustration. I told you that you could do whatever you want because you are the owner of the company and you make the wheels turn. I asked you how you would feel if you were in this situation. You said to give you a day to think about the situation and you will give me a call the next day.

You called me on Thursday, August 8th and said that all you could do is give me the money that I paid for the video. I asked you if this is all that you can do and you replied yes. I then said that I am not satisfied and I’m going to take this to the next level.Desired Settlement: I feel that I should get a full refund for thetrip due to the risk factors, endangerment and inconvenience that the company placed us in going and returning. I had to make sure everyone had a ride back home on returning in the early hours of the morning (1:30 a.m.) When I spoke to the ower, I explained to him that sometimes you have to take a loss when doing business if you are at fault. Also, I informed him that we could of been having another type of conversation if we were in an accident because we were truly placed in an dangerous situation on the highway. The shape that this bus was in was in terrible condition to go outside their garage for a chartered trip.

Review: I am a parent that was transported from [redacted] NJ to Washington DC on 5/15/13 by werner bus. we were charged $42 per person for a LUXURY BUS. the bus that was sent was from the late 1970's. there was NO AIR CONDITIONING on this "luxury" bus. the seats were worn and filthy with food ground into the seats. it had a bathroom without hand sanitizer to clean your hands. the coordinator of the trip tried to get a refund he was offered $400 of the $1600 that was paid. that works out to $9.50 a person. this is outrageous and this company needs to reimburse our group. i'm a fair person and I don't like fraudulent companies that take advantage of consumers. thank you for your time and assistance.Desired Settlement: refund in FULL
