Review: I purchased a 2004 [redacted] from the dealership for aproximately 7000,00. I told them was looking for a safe reliable van to use for road trips with my band. When we looked at the car it had a 60 day warranty on the window sticker which helped convince us to buy the car. There was an issue with the rear hatch not shutting and was told if it was too much to fix they would reduce the cost of the vehicle. They claimed it was fixed but did not work when I got it home and no money was ever taken off of price. They took my car as a trade and I put 100.00 hold on it. The next day we signed the remaining paperwork and the car was listed "As Is" on the paperwork but I assumed there was still a 60 day warranty since it was listed on the car when we looked at it both times.

Needless to say after having the van a couple of weeks I noticed the front end sounded like it was ready to fall off over bumps, the van was squealing on start -ups and a noise was coming from the rear wheel.

I brought it to the local [redacted] dealer where they replaced the serpentine belt(at my cost) and had them check the other problems.

I was told the lower control arms and ball joints needed replacing in the front end and the it also needed the left rear wheel bearing and ABS sensor replaced.(All safety issues) at a cost of 2000+. I called the dealer and informed that under warranty they should fix it and they should have known about the front end from doing their all points safety check. I even agreed to do the work if they paid for parts or vise versa. They said it was my problem and they had no obligation to do anything because I agreed to buy as is.

I think this was deception because once I put my money down and gave up my car as a trade in they took the window sticker off and changed it to an "as is" contract. I later found the window sticker in the glove box and the box next to the warranty is clearly checked and the box next to the "as is" is not. The 60 days is just about up but I have the estimate for the work that was done a couple of weeks ago and the original window sticker.

I think they should pay for the repairs since they are safety issued and they knew I was taking it on the road. None of the "As Is" was even mentioned until everything was filled out, they had my car and they just needed a signature.

I, and anyone I've spoken to feels this was a clear deceptive practice regardless of what was signed. I was misled.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is that they pay for any repairs or expenses that I have incurred within the 60 days of buying the car and not be allowed to make any changes between the time the agreement was made and the signing of the contract.

Review: I purchased a used Toyota Corolla on 10/19/13 at a cost of $14,655 with 33,618 miles. I have not been satisfied with vehicles performance (feels like it is lurching to the right). I brought the vehicle in for it's first service on 2/14/14 with 37,196 milage on the clock. I asked about leasing a vehicle and what I would get as a trade in. I was offered $10,000. How could a vehicle in less than 4 months and 3,578 miles lose value of $4,655?Desired Settlement: I do not think the car is safe. I want a car that is safe and road worthy. I want a car that is good value for the price - perhaps a lease loption.

Response:

Martha Tolan-Wilbur took delivery of a 2010 Toyota Corolla on 10/19/2013. She paid $14,655 for the vehicle. She brought that same car in for service on 2/14/2014 and expressed an interest in trading the car for a newer model. She was initially offered a trade in value of $10,000 and utlimately $10,500 prior to leaving. The discrepancy between the $14,655 and $10,500 represents the difference between retail value and trade value as well as a modest depreciation. I spoke to her over the phone on 3/4/2014 and attempted to expain the difference. She seemed disatisfied with my reasoning and stated she wanted the dealership to buy the car back from her for the same $14,655 that she paid months earlier.

Ms. Tolan-Wilbur also stated that she felt the car was unsafe. I recommended that she bring it back to our service department for an inspection. She initially hesitated but ultimately agreed to schedule a visit with the Service Manager. When the Service Manager called later that day she stated that she preferred to bring the Corolla to her own independent mechanic. We would still be happy to inspect the car for her to make sure it is operating as designed.

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not agree with Mr. Anderson's statement regarding the amount offered me by Toyota to buy back the car represented a retail trade with a 'modest' depreciation. A 28% depreciation within a time frame of less than 4 months and approximately 4,000 miles is by no calculation a 'modest' depreciation. If their depreciation rates are what they actually use, this 2010 Toyota Corolla would be deemed worthless at the time I purchased it.

Review: I bought a new car from [redacted] Honda in Westbrook CT and I got the Simonize product on the vehicle. I got a stain the Honda service dept said they could fix it. When the seats dried the stain was three times the size. The sap on the hood they could not remove it. They said anything else they do would have to be out of my pocket and the contract does not apply anymore. I refereed a customer to [redacted] Toyota and they pushed him to get Simonize I told him not to get the product and I explained it to the financial adviser. The adviser said he would have his service dept take care of the issues. It has been over a month I have been to the dealership twice and the work is still not done. Now my paint is chipping on the hood and they told me I bought the car this way. I spoke to the service tech. and he said he cannot get the stains off because the stains are in the cushion now. They said they replaced the back seat but the service tech. said they only replaced a quarter section. Now the dealership is lying and trying to tell me to go through Siminonize and put a claim in because they don't want to deal with the work. When I dropped off the car it was fine now they say there is a loud noise from the back and my rotors need to be shaved down. How can a perfectly normal car be so damaged under [redacted] Auto's care and on their property more than 12 miles was added to my odometer. I only approved one person to drive the car one exit which is max 6 miles. How did my care get this many miles?

Product_Or_Service: Honda

Account_Number: Contract with Simoni

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I would like a refund for the work done on the rotors because I have no way to determine if this really was an issue? Also, I want to know how 12 miles was put on the vehicle when it was only authorized once to be driven on the highway which is less than 7 miles. I want new seats and cushions in the vehicle since the stains are now double in size and seeped to the cushions and cannot be removed. I want a full paint job done since my paint is cracked and primer exposed.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2013/08/14) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

The company only acted properly when the Revdex.com was involved. I am still waiting for the three year exteneded bumper to bumper warranty for oil changes, brakes etc. to be sent to me. This was not delivered when I picked up the vehicle. The hood is fully repainted. I do not blame the service department solely on these issues it is the lack of communication and care from the sales department, who makes false promises and does not follow through or communicate with the service department. Once I receive the three year bumper to bumper warranty that the vice president [redacted] promised I will be satisfied with the results of the complaint.

Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2013/08/16) */

The 3 year maintenance agreement was mailed to Ms. [redacted]'s home today, Friday August 16th. Once it is signed and returned the agreement will be active.
