I went to Westcott to get my 2008 mazda 3 serviced. I had 2 recalls and they fit me in right away. While waiting I decided to look at the new version of my car. I spoke with [redacted] and took it on a test drive. They asked me what I wanted to put down and asked me how much I wanted to spend. They asked me if they could do that, would I take the car home. I said ok. They offered me the car with a 4.8% interest rate and I decided to take it. I talked with [redacted] in finance and he made his sales pitch on all of the extras. Now I was told the money would be taken off the loan which would not lower my payment. I called the bank and the dealer and went back and forth and [redacted] was able to not only take off all the extras and the finance for it but lower my payment to $260.00 a month. What a relief. I have to say that this is the only time I have been to a dealership and feel no pressure and didn't feel like I got ripped off and I love my new 2014 Mazda 3 Touring. Mazda recommends 5w20 oil for the rotary engine and nothing else. The recommended intervals are at every 3 to 5 thousand miles or 5 months whatever comes first. Our records only show one oil change at our store on December 22 2009. Customer has not returned for maintenance to our...

store since.

Review: I took my Mazda B4000 truck in for it's 75,000 mile service and also mentioned about a small vibration in the steering. They had my vehicle for approximately 2 weeks. They had ordered the wrong part which ended up being the rear differential, which they did fix, however, when the dealership finally got my truck back to me my battery was almost dead (truck had much difficulty starting) which I had Auto Zone replace for $124 and my engine coolant was 100% empty upon the employee at Auto Zone pointing it out to me. I purchased coolant from Auto Zone for $12 as well. The cost for the maintenance at Mazda was $1548 with a 10% off coupon and a few days later they sent me a 15% off coupon for the 75,000 mile maintenance.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a billing adjustment for the $12 coolant, $124 new battery and have the additional 5% taken off the original $1548 cost of the maintenance of my truck.

Review: When I bought my used vehicle from Mazda they failed to disclose that the use of the prescribed oil in the owner's manual would ultimately destroy the engine after around 30,000 miles. The car was made in 2004 and I purchased the vehicle in 2009 and Mazda knew of the problem years before I bought my car. I was not told that the thin viscosity oil (5W-20 prescribed in the manual) would not be sufficient enough to prevent damage to the engine. I have had my car looked at by the dealership in my area and was told that the engine has low compression which is a sign that the apex seals in the rotary engine are damaged or worn. I was also told by the employee at the dealership that my engine is going to stop working sometime in the near future. I had been using the thicker oil that Mazda recommends to use in Japan for the same car I don't think I would have any problems with my engine or looking at a complete engine failure in the near future. Recently, I tried to contact Mazda and asked that they replace my engine at no cost to me but they responded and said they would not do this. Why was I not informed of this major defect before buying this car?Desired Settlement: I think as they sold me this vehicle and didn't disclose any information of this major defect that they have a responsibility to replace the engine at no cost to me.

Review: My wife and I purchased a 2009 GMC Acadia from Westcott Mazda on April 1, 2013 and not even 2 months later (roughly 1,100 miles), the on dash oil replacement indicator came on. When this happened I called the dealership to ask if they had changed the oil prior to us purchasing the vehicle and the gentleman I spoke with said yes, though the service techs sometimes forget to reset the indicator. Seeing as how the dealership could forget something as minor as resetting the oil change indicator, how could I trust that they had changed the oil, so I figured it would be wise to go ahead and change it at that point. After purchasing the oil and the oil filter, I crawled under the vehicle to find that it had an oil leak that was all over the under side. Again, I called the dealership to see about getting this problem taken care of and I was told that this would not be an issue they would be willing to help resolve, though it should be covered under the manufacturer warranty. I decided against changing the oil due to the leak. Shortly after discovery of the oil leak, the vehicle started having all kinds of other problems including transmission problems, broken motor mount, a recall on the water pump came in, and the power steering was locking up. I figured I would call Westcott Mazda again to see if they would be willing to help out and spoke to the same person as the last few times ([redacted]), and he said he was sorry, there isn't much they could do. We brought the vehicle to Inland Chevrolet in Hemet CA. in September to have them take a look at it and they performed all of the repairs. All of it was under the manufacture warranty with the exception of the power steering pump. I again called [redacted] at Westcott Mazda to see about having them reimburse us the $250 we had to come out of pocket after the extended warranty, and he said he would run it by the GM and get back to me. I spoke with [redacted] on Friday September 20, 2013 and waited till Tuesday September 24, 2013 and called to speak with [redacted] again because he hadn't yet gotten back to me. The girl that answered the phone there said he was unavailable and that she would give him the message and have him call me. I waited again till Friday, September 27, 2013 to call again, and the same girl answered and took another message. I again waited until Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 to call back and she said that [redacted] was unavailable and would give him a message, so I stressed my concerns to her and let her know that it would be nice to actually get a call back. Today, Friday, October 4, 2013, I called again to get the same story, he is busy and will call you back. At this point I refused to leave a message and decided to file a complaint. The warranty period for Westcott Mazda to take care of these issues should have been 2 months, and we got in contact with them sooner than 2 months after purchasing the vehicle, but their unwillingness to help us has now extended the time of repair out just passed 6 months from the date of purchase. I feel that Westcott Mazda should at the very least be willing to reimburse us the $250 we had to pay given the fact that we are only 6 months out now and only 7,400 miles on the vehicle since purchase (not to mention again, that we had tried working with them within the 2 months). I am more than willing to provide the invoice from Inland Chevrolet showing the repairs. I look forward to hearing from someone to resolve this matter soon. Thanks.Desired Settlement: A reimbursement of $250

Response:

In response to Mr. [redacted] complaint, We were never notified about his issues until just recently when we received a call stating he wanted $250.00. Mr. [redacted] claims he called Westcott Mazda and spoke to "someone " however he is not able to provide us with who and when he called. He was explained that used cars carry a 60 day warranty and he is now almost 6 month out of warranty. He stated he was aware of the warranty only being 60 days and acknowledged he waited almost 6 month but stated if we didn't pay his $250.00 dollar deductible he would call Revdex.com. We understand vehicles break down and understand Mr. [redacted] situation , however we have rules, policies and procedures we must follow. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact my Service Manager [redacted] @619-474-1591 or @ [redacted]. Thank you

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This course of action is completely unacceptable as I have provided dates of when I called and to whom I spoke. As stated in my complaint, I am fully aware of the 60 day warranty, however, the cause of me going over that 60 days is solely Westcott Mazdas responsibility by their lack of concern with the problems I was having and had informed them of. It was not only one issue with the vehicle either. There is now way a vehicle that was inspected properly and thoroughly would have had the oil leak it had, along with the transmission problems, broken motor mount, bad power steering pump, bad water pump, and bad o2 sensor. How could all this have been overlooked? Westcott was informed in a timely matter as to the issues I was having (within the 2 month period) and just plain refused to help due to the supposed vehicle inspection that was performed. Again, how trustworthy is it that this inspection was as thorough as Westcott claims if they could overlook changing the oil or resetting the light. Sorry but I can't trust that. I would simply like the $250 due to me and have this horrible experience behind me. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

While I am pleased to hear that Westcott Mazda is finally willing and able to work with their customers and address a situation when the need arises, I am sorry to say that their inability to satisfactorily resolve this particular situation doesn't come as much of a surprise given the poor service we have received from them up to this point. I am not willing to accept a "half way" offer as the vehicle has been a problem from the get go and feel they should be fully responsible for the $250 bill my wife and I had to flop due to their allowing a vehicle to leave with such problems as a major oil leak. Let me restate the obvious once more. We bought the vehicle and very shortly after the purchase we had problems with the vehicle, some of them clearly being problems that could not have possibly been nonexistent (just poorly hidden at best) while the vehicle was under their ownership, such as the oil leak. Then there were the rest of the problems that did in-fact present themselves within the 2 months of the warranty that should have covered by Westcott, such as the Transmission, Power Steering Pump, O2 Sensor, and Motor Mount, Water Pump Shaft Seal (which was manufacturer recalled). I sincerely hope Westcott finds it in them to take ownership of this problem.

Review: Salesman quoted a price of 15900 for vehicle we test drove, got back to the office and manager interrupted and confirmed price of vehicle to be 16000 . Went home but realize that the salesman was nice enough for us to reconsider

The offer, that the salesman should not be faulted for the unsatisfactory behavior of his manager. We sat and prepared for The paper works in settling the purchase agreement, however another manager came and said the price is now 17290+ For this used 2010 Mazda 3 , and what's worst is while we sat there considering to purchase this vehicle, another salesman was pushing the same vehicle to another customer, I firmly asked that we are sitting down to settle the purchase of this vehicle and yet he continues to take the key and have the vehicle taken out for a test drive.

I realize it's a cut throat business out there, but I took it as a slap on the face and no one should be treated like that in any kind of business dealing, at least not in this country.

I beg that this type of behavior be noted and that something should be done.Desired Settlement: Change of store policy, better education on customer service for both the salesman and especially for upper management

sales price was $15,995 plus sales tax and dmv fees. customer wants fees included and we could not do that.

My dispute

is mainly how business was presented to us and not the cost of the vehicle.

the salesman quoted a price of $15900+ when we test drove the vehicle. While settling the paperwork’s, two guys came

in the picture. One with curly hair who rudely stated "$16000"

nothing less. He

didn’t even have the audacity to face us, he was looking outside the window

with hands in his pockets, very unprofessional.

Review: On 12/7/2013 I was called by [redacted] (Westott Mazda) I explain to her that was not intersting in getting a car, because my trade in I owed to much and I have been turned down too many times, her responds was, "we provide in house financing" and I still no, and she transfer me to a salesman name [redacted] J, he stated that he could get me approved and I explain to him that I will not come down not unless I was approved and leaving with a car, He called back about 2 hours later and stated he had good news, that he got me approved and just needed me to come down and pick out a car, because at that point I asked for how much? Nat, said I would need to come in. I han an appointment for 12/8/2013, but changed my mind and went on 12/07/2013. I took my sister with me and he had a salesman name [redacted] help me out with some of the paperwork, he also stated that they did not have to run my credit anymore since I had already been approve, I than agin asked how much, he told me $15,000, I stated I seen a used 2011 Toyota Camry on the lot for that much, he kept saying just wait and will go outside to look, but instead brought back a 2012 Mazda x3 whicg was a nice car, asked how much never got an respond at all. Test drove the car and state I like the car, and [redacted] said it is yours, just need to start the paper work. After a few minutes of waiting was told it be a little longer. I waited and than [redacted] comes in stated the bank closed at 2pm, but I was there after 3pm and he had to wait to get an answer, because I was only approve for a new car which would have been a 2013, told me he will call me the next day around 12:30pm or 1pm, never called so I called and he stated he was waiting on the bank to call back it was already 1:30pm. I never heard anything back from him. I called back later and he stated that the bank stated I have a car, I said I do and you already knew that as well as [redacted], because stated I did not have to trade it in if I did not want too. [redacted] promise me he would call me that Monday and I never heard from him and when I call now he is always with a customer and I even emailed him to ask if it was a go or not. I just wanted an answer yes or no. Now he his acting like I'm bothering him, and never was mean or anything when they called me, I just told them not at this time and they called and emailed just about everyday trying to get my business and this how they treat their customers.Desired Settlement: I want to purcahse the car that I was suppose to have been approved for.

Response:

Back in December 2013 I filed a complaint aganist Westcott Mazda ( Complaint Number [redacted]) I got an e-mail stating that I was approved for a car and that I could come and in and get the car they have picked out or a car of my choice. I spoke with [redacted] on 01/03/2013 and he stated that a sales person by the name of [redacted] will be assisting me. I had an appointment for 01/04/2013 at 11:30am, but instead I went on 01/03/2013 after work, because somthing just do not set well with me. I spoke with [redacted] and I gave him all my information, and they never once said that their was no cars on the lot that I could not purchase. When I get there it was a totally different story. At first I was told I could put down $1500 and for a car, and than on Friday 01/03/2013, [redacted] came up with something else, saying I needed $3400 to put down and there was no cars on the lot that had any incetives, because the specials all ended on the 01/02/2013 so they claimed, their unable to assist me. [redacted] just kept stating I was approved, it was whole different story from when I went there the first time. [redacted] was suppose to call me on 01/04/2014 after he spoke with [redacted] the manager and I have not heard anything from neither onE That place is so unprofessional, and I think they should be held accountable for their action and how they treAt their customers. I saw the approval, but what good does it do me if their is no cars that I quailfy for.

I would like the car that I was orginal approved for, and if not that one something on the same bases of the car that I should have gotten and be able to put down the $1500 I was told the very first time. I want to be treated like everyone else that comes to their dealership.

Unfortunately as a dealer we do not come up with the terms of an approval from a lending institution, if a customer does not like the terms they may pay cash or acquire thier own financing.

Review: I bought a new 2013 M3 in JULY...still no plates but wait...it gets better! I am now getting PARKING TICKETS FOR MY OLD CAR I traded in to Westcott Mazda back in July! I see a lot of complaints about the service bay area and the people there but I went back today to work out my loan getting redone and asked the service Manager (Forgot his name [redacted]) how much they would charge me to wash my engine from my 2008 mazda 3 and he told me to bring it in and let it cool down and he will do it free of charge. That saved me $69.00 from an appointment I had Monday and will definetly get me a lot more money when I sell my used mazda. I have started a relationship with this dealership that I hope lasts for a lifetime. Thank you [redacted], [redacted] and ? Service Hopefully someone from the dealer checks the yelp and put the name of the service person that helped me because he was great.
