Thieves!!!
After 3 tries attempting to fix my rather simple plumbing problem John & Brandon decided that rather than admit they couldn't fix it they would steal my $443 & the parts I bought from them.

FYI, Sturm Plumbing solved your mess John. They replaced the check valve & found the wad of pipe tape from your attempted repairs. Guess what John. They also put air in a new expansion tank prior to installing it & was so easy not like when you boasted of 25 years experience & pumped & pumped & pumped swearing & sweating for 30 mins because you had no clue what you were doing.

I want my money back or we can go to small claims court. I'll be getting my sign ready so I can come over down the street from your business & give you the free advertisement you deserve. $443 worth.

Stole my money!!!
On 11/10/20 I had a leaking pressure reduction valve. I contacted WAP & they said they would come & "assess" the problem. They arrived that afternoon stayed maybe 45 mins & "assessed" that I needed a pressure reduction valve & 2 gal expansion tank. Cost of parts was under $100 & my bill was $443.

After they left I began hearing all kinds of humming & squealing from my water pipes. I called the office & was initially told they could not come back until tomorrow. After I complained about concern of failure & potential water damage they agreed to return that evening.

About 6:45 Pm, John, (a supervisor), & Brandon a trainee returned. They were the same 2 here originally. They stayed until 9 Pm & thought it was fixed. John was so unprofessional & said "I should have charged you more!" John constantly screamed at his young trainee & was totally out of control. No masks, no removing shoes & I even had to supply towels to clean up their mess.

The next day I began hearing a high pitched whistle sound when I got a glass of water from the fridge. I figured it might be some air in the line or something unique to the fridge but then I checked the kitchen sink & laundry sink & heard the same shrill sound on 11/12/20.

11/13/20 I called WAP again because the high pitched whining was still happening. The receptionist agreed to have their techs come out between 3 & 5 Pm. I requested a different tech because of how rude & unprofessional John the Supervisor was but she said it had to be him.

John & Brandon arrived within the time frame & immediately John started with an attitude asking me "what do you want now?" I told him that I did not have any of these noises prior to him "trying" to fix my problem. John said "we did what you asked & replaced the PRV & expansion tank." I told John that the obviously leaking PRV needed replaced & reminded him that both he & his office said he would "assess" the problem & tell me "everything" that needed repaired. On the initial visit John did nothing to pre-check or evaluate - he couldn't get in & out fast enough. I then asked John to listen while I turned on the water on my 2nd floor & the whining started. It was clear to hear & his helper admitted he heard it. John rushed up & began trying all the faucets etc & then claimed a dirty aerator on the 3rd floor master bath sink was causing the whining. I disagreed but said ok, let's take the aerator off & try the 2nd floor again. We did & it whined even louder than before. John claimed he didn't hear it, but again his helper admitted he heard it clearly. I asked John why he was trying to lie to me & not fix the total problem as he was responsible for? John then stomped downstairs & began taking off the expansion tank, then the PRV & went out to his van. John returned to my door with my old original parts in hand & said "we're going to put these back on & we are done." I told him I had bought the parts he took off & I wanted them back & he refused saying I could stop payment on my check. The check was written 3 days prior & already cashed by WAP. I called the office & the manager called me back saying she would not return the parts I bought nor refund the money they had already stole from us.

About an hour later I was able to get Sturm Plumbing from Harrison City to respond to the mess WAP had left us in with open pipes & no water. Sturm quickly & efficiently actually ASSESSED the problem & had it repaired by 6 Pm. The solution was replacing the OBVIOUS missing PRV & expansion tank. However, the very professional Sturm tech asked why WAP had not replaced the check valve? Upon re-piping & installing the check valve & PRV he showed me a plumbing tape that was partially obscuring the line adjacent to the PRV & check valve. 2ndly, Sturm set the water pressure to 63 psi & then pressurized the new expansion tank to 51.5 psi BEFORE he installed it. I mentioned that John from WAP had got smart with me when I asked why he did not set the pressure on the expansion tank prior to install? Literally John & Brandon tried for 20-30 mins to pressurize the tank while it was connected to the system with sweat running off of them. When Sturm finished we tried everything & walah! No noise, no humming & no whining.

So now I suppose I lost $443 to WAP & after reading their reviews & BBB complaints I can't believe I hired them. As a person who has worked in Quality Control for over 30 years I can't believe the lack of knowledge John had & I feel bad that his trainee Brandon had to take his abuse & be taught inadequately.

We've asked for our money back & been told to stop payment on our check but our bank PNC says its already cleared however WAP says we have to wait 15 days? I suppose I can write many more reviews in the next 15 days. Speak to my coworkers at the Attorney Generals Office. File my small claims request with my local magistrate including the additional $783 I had to pay Sturm to clean up WAP's mess after hours. For certain a thorough BBB complaint & possibly a few days of doing some advertising for WAP just outside their property line on public ground so that everyone can "ASSESS" their business.

Do yourself a favor & stay away from this company.

I called Westmoreland Affordable Plumbing Heating and Cooling for a problem I was having with a sewer backup. The company sent out a plumber that day and gave me a time frame that fit my schedule. The plumbers name was Patrick and he was a total professional, he was very mannerly and answered all my questions and concerns I had and gave me a very fair price to unclog my sewer. I also signed up for their customer service agreement plan and got a free furnace inspection the very next week. The technicians name was Mike and just like Patrick was very professional and mannerly. Good job to this company for having men like them that will be very professional and helpful. I look to doing business for many years to come.

Review: Company was contacted on 8-28-16. Greg the technician came to my residence on 8-28-16, we negotiated a price of $1050.00 for a gas line to be repaired. Greg wrote up a contact at the agreed amount of $1050.00, and the amount of $500.00 cash was given to start the job. On 8-29-16 technician Pat came to my residence and dug a hole 3ft in diameter and about 20 inches deep. Pat stated that he could not get the pipe through and it would be a additional cost. I told Pat that I was not paying anymore than the $1050.00. On 8-30-16 the secretary called and stated it would be a additional $500.00 to dig a 12ft long ditch. I stated it was outragous and that I was not going to pay that. Greg then called me and said it was in the contact that things were additional and that he went over this with me, which he did not. I do have a witness to this, as in the time the agreement was made with Greg. Greg said if I thought it was too much money then I could dig the ditch myself, and they would then fufill the contract. I rented a machine on Wednesday 8-31-16 and dug the ditch as well as removed the old pipe. I then called the company and left a message on their answering machine stating I was ready for them to finish the job. This was at 6:26 pm on 8-31-16. On 9-1-16 as of 8 am I had not received a call back so I contacted the company and spoke with the secretary. She stated that I was not on the schedule for the day but she would put me on the schedule for Friday 9-2-16 in the morning between 8-8:30 am. No one showed up on 9-2-16 between the scheduled time so I waited until 9:30 am to contact the company. the secretary said that since there was a conflict that when they guys go to my residence, I was to pay them immediately for the remainder of the job. I told her that was not the agreement and they I was not paying the remainder of the money until the job was complete. I gave them $500.00 cash upfront to start the job, so my ability to pay was not a issue. I then told the secretary to have the owner call me as this was not what was agreed upon. Greg then called back and said that he wanted paid when he got out of the truck or he was not finishing the job. I told him I had the money I would show it to him but I was not paying them for a job that was not done, as now I did not trust that they would just leave after I gave them the money. I told Greg I wanted a partial refund as I was not paying $500.00 for a hole to be dug,. he stated I was not getting a refund and began to raise his voice so I hunt the phone up. Because of their actions I had to find another plumming outfit to come and finish the job. I could not get my gas turned back on for another two days.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for $350.00. I believe that $100.00 for Greg's service call on the 8-28-16 is fair and $50.00 for little bit Pat was there on 8-29-16. Deducting $150.00 from the $500.00 that I gave them on 8-28-16.

Enclosed is a copy of our invoice which Mr [redacted] did sign, it clearly states that we were going to replace up to 20 feet of gas pipe doing a direct insert. It also clearly states that if there are any leaks on the inside of the house or if we needed to trench it would be additional. Mr [redacted] was aware of this and signed the contract. Greg the first plumber was there on 8/28 from 12-3pm, and Patrick the second plumber was there on 8/29 from 1-4pm. The deposit that was put down covered the time and work that was performed by Greg and Patrick. After we determined we could no longer proceed with the job do to trenching the customer became upset that it would be additionaland stated he would dig the additional himself. The amount that was paid covers services that were rendered. Had Mr [redacted] agreed to let us finish the rest of the job we would have been happy to do that. Being he decided to let another company finish the job the deposit amount that was paid covers the services that were rendered.

Very poor communication was quoted two days was finished in one curious to know what kabor rate is /was. Had to come back two days later replace bad valve honestly believe we were over charged for the poor workmanship. Would never recommend to anyone

Review: This is the 2nd time this business made an appt to come to my house to diagnose my broken A/C problem. I would like to point out this is this hottest temperatures we have had this summer. This is the 2nd time they missed the appt and they did not call to cancel. I even called today and spoke with someone that confirmed my appt. I called tonight after they were 45 min late and left a message as noone answered the phone. The first missed appt was Thursday, July 21st. I called the next day and they rescheduled for Saturday July 23rd. I paid the $218 for them to come into my house. The guy checked if the drain was clogged and it was not. Then he took the front off of the furnace / a/c (the unit inside the basement) and it was iced over. He said he could not do any diagnostics b/c of the ice . He suggested to turn on the furnace or fan and make an appointment for Monday or Tuesday night for them to come back. I asked about how I would get charged and he said I would get an estimate before any work. I already invested $317 and did not get any diagnostic services and they did not show up tonight (for the 2nd time) even though I called 2 times today. I also purchased a pre-paid 1 year service agreement on June 21, 2016 as I anticipated doing business with this company. I mentioned to the representative today (as well as I did last week) that I never got an answer as to why the technician did not show up last week and the rep said someone would call me back today. I also questioned the $99 diagnostic fee. Since I did not get any diagnostics on Sat and asked if the visit that was to take place tonight would be covered by that $99 fee. I never received any call today and no technician at the appt time of 5:30pm. I would also like to mention that I have to leave work early to be home for these appts only to wait to not have the technician show up at the appt times. The APS# is [redacted] and the Contr# [redacted] for reference.Desired Settlement: I request a refund of $198 (which breaks down as the $99 service agreement and the $99 diagnostic charge that I never received). I will pay the $119 charge from 7/23/16 as the technician did check the drain of the a/c and I understand his time needs to be paid.

Response:

I certainly do apologize for this inconvenience. We can issue you a refund check for the service plan for the $99.00 charge which we will mail a refund check for. We were called to the home on 7/23 and did diagnose a problem with the drain so that visit was charged correctly for the diagnosis of the drain and the repair. There was an additional problem with the air conditioner that we were to be returning for that we have not charged anything for to refund. Again, we truly do apologize.

Review: On 1-7-2015, I had them install a new hot water tank. After the installation, the technician, Mike, began telling me about their lifetime service plan for yearly checks on the furnace and central air conditioning, at the flat price of $299..00. At that time, I asked him if I had to call to set up the appointments or if they called once a year to service the furnace and once a year to service the central air. I told him that the reason I was asking was because I had had [redacted] HVAC yearly and that they always called promptly to set up the appointments. He said, "No, you do not have to call. They will call you to set up your appointments. Like I said, I bought the lifetime service contract for the above mentioned sum, and to date, I have never received a call from them to service either my furnace or air conditioning unit. Therefore, I called them on 9-5-2016 and requested a refund of my $299.00 seeing as they have already missed almost 2 years of servicing. The woman I talked to said she would pass this onto the manager and that he would be calling me back in 1 to 2 days. Here it is, 4 days later, and I still have yet to hear from the manager. Of course, this really doesn't surprise me seeing as they have never called me for almost 2 years to service my furnace or central air conditioning unit. They advertise themselves as a "Christian Owned" company and have found that they have not in the least been "Christian-like".Desired Settlement: It is their responsbility to refund my money seeing as I have never receive any of the services promised.

We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. As we had stated to you on the phone our records indicate that we did make courtesy calls to the number we have on file to schedule for both furnace and air conditioning checks. In addition to us calling you, you are also welcome to call our office at anytime you would like to schedule for one of your inspections. What we are willing to do is get your inspections scheduled for you and in addition to that we will also do a one time FREE cleaning on your air conditioner and furnace when we come for the inspections (which is normally an additional cost). Please feel free to contact our office and we would be happy to schedule you immediately for the free furnace and AC check and do the FREE cleanings on both systems. Thank you!!!

Response:

With the service agreement plan that you bought as it states on the agreement you are entitled to a free furnace, air conditioning, and plumbing check...One of each of these yearly. The check itself is free the cleanings are additional if you choose to have a cleaning which we do recommend. We are willing to give you at no cost a free cleaning of both the furnace and air conditioner at no cost to you. We as a courtesy give you reminder calls to see if you are ready to schedule your free checks but it does not state anywhere on our contract that we are responsible to call you to schedule the checks or we will refund you your money.Again, we do make reminder and cold calls our to see if your ready to schedule but most of our other customers call when they are ready for the checks because everyone's preference is different as to if they want them done in the beginning or end of that season. Please feel free to contact us to schedule your free inspections and we will do the free cleanings as well. We have not breached any end of our contract such as refusing to come out to service your systems, therefore we are not refunding the money but will honor the agreement you did purchase and would be happy to do the annual check ups. Please feel free to contact our office to set up appointments that would be convenient for you. Thank you!

Review: I have a paid service agreement with WAP that includes a yearly review of furnace, humidifier, air conditioning, etc. My air conditioning was functioning and keeping constant cool temperatures in all rooms, however, the basement which is normally the coolest room in the house was not as cold as usual. I thought my whole house humidifier required service. I decided to have the unit checked out, not anticipating any major issues. The service tech (Mike) arrived on August 1st and indicated that there was a leaking suction valve on the condensing unit which was losing refrigerant. I was charged $489 for the valve and reclaiming the refrigerant. The tech returned on August 5th to install the valve (it was not in stock) and re-supply the refrigerant. The charge for this service was an additional $389. Before the tech left I informed him that there was very little volume of air emitting from the vents and that the air was not cool. He stated that it takes time for the refrigerant to take effect. There was no change after thirty-six hours and WAP was called again.

Another tech (Joe) arrived on August 6th and diagnosed the problem as a defective compressor. I questioned this analysis as the unit was in working order prior to WAP’s initial service. The tech’s response was “things happen”. When I inquired as to how it was functioning the day the first tech was there and failed after he departed he continued “things happen”. I reluctantly agreed to have the compressor replaced. I was informed they would procure the compressor for $1,100 – CASH only. (My credit is excellent and I have never had a check “bounce” my entire life.)

This same tech arrived the next day, Friday, August 7th and installed the compressor. I asked for the warranty and he indicated there was no documentation was included with the compressor. He verbally remarked that compressors are “usually” guaranteed for one year. I insisted on a warranty guarantee and he added this notation on the invoice only after I stated that I would not pay for a product that was not warranted. He departed and there was not an appreciable difference in the performance of the air conditioning throughout the entire weekend although the unit ran continuously. Once again I called WAP, Monday, August 10th.

The same tech arrived later in the day and indicated that he was on the phone with the manufacturer and that he was of the opinion that another part was required to fix the unit. (I failed to recognize the name of the part.) He took the model and serial number of the unit and indicated that he would be in contact with me the following day. He did call (Tuesday morning, August 11th) and stated that the part was not in stock and the cost would be an additional $750! However, they would secure the part for $700 if I paid in CASH. To make sure that the unit was functioning he stated that I could pay WAP an additional $300 for an evaporating coil. I asked him to speak to his manager about the financial terms. He called back fifteen minutes later and stated that the terms were firm. I asked to talk to the manager and at that point I was disconnected.Desired Settlement: Once again, I feel that I must re-iterate that my air conditioning was cooling the entire house (including the basement) prior to WAP’s service. I called them simply to check my unit. Since I have invested approximately $2,000 with NO air conditioning I would like my unit restored to its original functionality ASAP.

Response:

The customer called our office to schedule for the free air conditioning check up that they are entitled to with the service agreement they purchased with our company. The customer stated when he scheduled the call that the air conditioner was working but not properly. We went to the home on Saturday 8-1-15 and did the free inspection which at that time our technician found a leaking suction valve on the condensing unit which was causing the system to produce less air flow in the house. Had this valve not been replaced eventually the system would have not produced any cold air at all to the home so the system at some point (days) would have quit working all together. We called the customer on Monday 8-3-15, and gave them the price on what it would cost to replace the valve and the customer agreed and we did the work. We were contacted back by the customer on 8-6-15 stating that they were still not getting cold air, at that time we sent a technician out who then found there was an additional problem with the compressor, so we gave the customer a price on replacing that and did the work. Being the suction valve was leaking refrigerant we were unable to test for any further problems until we got that up and running. With furnaces and air conditioners sometimes until you get one part up and running you cannot properly test other components of the system to know of any further problems with other parts. We provide all warranty information to the customer on the invoice which I have enclosed copies of the contracts with this email. Per the back of the invoice all workmanship has a 30 day warranty and parts all have different warranties which are specified on each invoice based on the call. The customer was still having an issue with the air conditioner after we put the compressor in and our technician spoke to the manufacturer's technical support line and it was determined he would also need a txv valve installed as well. The customer declined to have this additional part done. We did want to receive payment in cash rather than check being some customers then feel they will just stop the payment and not pay for the additional work, this has happened to our company before and we were just trying to avoid the situation from occuring again. Prior to getting the compressor it was suggested to the customer that they may also want to consider the option of replacing the unit rather than investing money for these parts, the customers reply was who would put in a new system in August. We gave the customer all prices up front before doing any work, gave a second option of replacing the unit rather than to keep investing money with parts, offered the customer our lowest prices possible for the repairs, and did the best we could with the situation we were dealing with. We unfortunately are unable to restore the unit back to the condition it was in when we first arrived on 8/1/2015, as I stated before it was just a matter of time (days) before the system would have went down completely being it was losing refrigerant. We cannot remove parts that are already installed the parts are now used and cannot be returned as well as the labor time is already done. All the parts that were installed were necessary. We would be willing to talk with the customer about a significant price reduction on a new system if they are interested in going that route, or can negotiate a lesser price for the txv valve. We try our best to satisfy all customers as best as possible and would be willing to do whatever necessary within reason to come to a solution.

Review: I was sold a camera view of my sewer line and the equipment obviously was not working as the tech had to go and get a new monitor - brought back a monitor which he told me had been ran over by a truck - it obviously showed no sewer line. He then could not get a reading from the locator which should have shown a signal from the camera in the sewer line - he went to buy batteries and then pretended to have a reading, but still no visual on the monitor. He proceeded to mark where the lines ran (this was across my lawn from where another a second plumber found my lines with a perfect view from his camera which I could certainly see on the second plumber's monitor). I paid Westmorland Affordable Plumbing for an electric eel fee and $289.00 for the camera view - I have contacted them several times and lastly after the second plumber dug up my lines across the lawn from where Westmorland Affordable Plumbing marked for the lines. I have called and asked for a refund of my camera view of $289.00 as the equipment had to be faulty as there were no visuals of the sewer lines and no signal showing where the camera was in the sewer line. I spoke to the office assistant and ask that the owner of the company contact me - no call from the owner. The Office Manager stated that he was unable to return my money and I have had no contact with them since. I feel that the camera, monitor and locator were not working properly and therefore was sold a service which could not be properly provided and was very much misleading. I only want my camera fee of $289.00 refunded and I would like for John M[redacted] (Owner :?) to contact me so that I am aware that he is aware of the type of work his employees are providing.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $289.00 which was the camera fee and which proved to be from faulty equipment being used by the tech.

Review: We had our furnace lock out on us. We also have a one year old. We called Westmoreland affordable. They processed to arrive at our home. With in a couple mins he had our furnace running. He had told us the problem and did not recommend how to fix it. Instead he continues to try to sell us a expensive furnace. Telling us we might get another month out of our furnace,we had a crack in the box and the co2 levels were 1-2 out of vent right beside furnace he did not check any other one. And 13 in the furnace. Which he put 25 on the slip. Which he said were both critical levels. Which they r not. When we told him we would get a furnace elsewhere his attitude changed completely. He was short rude and made a nasty comment of at least we had a fireplace. He proceeds to tag our furnace. He also did not work his co2 properly. Turned it in inside when anyone knows u turn it on in fresh air to have it function properly. The furnace went to lockout again by the next morning. So we called another orofessional for another opinion. When the other one arrived he informed us that there was no crack. The co2 levels were not what the teck had told us. And our furnace was in good working order and we did not need another. And the problem was nothing the teck told us. It was the nozzel which was the wrong size. The nozzel was replaced and the furnace is up and working great with no problems. Several ppl were their for witnesses. We called the business trying to tell them of there teck and basically got nowhere besides being told that everything was done appropriately by the teck and rude service. If it was done appropriately then the furnace should of been fixed the first time. He also left kerosine and grease all on my kitchen floor.Desired Settlement: Our money refunded and an apologie.

Response:

We were called to this customers home they had stated their furnace was not working. We told the customer over the phone the fee to come out and run diagnostic testing (basically figure out what the problem was), is $99.00 plus the cost of the repair which the customer agreed to. The technician arrived at the home and did his testing and found that the heat exchanger was cracked and the carbon monoxide levels were too high for us to allow the furnace to continue running. The technician did not fix anything that got their furnace up and running he simply shut the furnace down and noted on the contract that the furnace was inoperable. The next day the customer called to express dissatisfaction on the $99.00 charge, stating he came in looked at the furnace and shut it down and he didn't fix anything. We again went over with the customer that they were told over the phone the fee to come to the house and see what is wrong with the furnace is $99.00 plus the cost of the repair, so the charge was correct. Our technician never even gave them a price on a new furnace because after diagnosing the furnace the customer made him aware he wasn't even the home owner he was a tenant. He stated the landlord has people that could put the furnace in. No documentation has been provided from a licensed insured HVAC technician proving our technicians diagnosis different. We are unclear why the tenant would have not called the landlord from the beginning when they were having issues with the furnace. We stand by our technicians diagnosis as he is a licensed HVAC technician and has been in the field for over 10 years. We apologize that customer was not happy with what the diagnosis was but they were correctly charged.

Review: WAP installed a new furnace at my home in 2011. I am now selling my home and to receive an occupancy permit, the [redacted] code enforcement officer needed a letter and/or certification regarding a PVC pipe WAP had installed above my furnace. WAP had made some error putting the PVC in, and instead of removing the pipe they didn't need, they just cut it in half and left it hanging on the ceiling as a really poor job of workmanship. I called them yesterday to ask if they could do a courtesy call since I not only had a new furnace installed but paid them $7,000 to dig up and replace by sewer line) to give me a letter or something to certify that there was no problem with that pipe being there doing nothing. When the furnace was installed, it was extremely poor workmanship and I had to call them back to my house 3 or 4 times because water condensation was leaking onto the floor from the furnace. It was a very poor job. On the first call regarding the PVC pipe, Greg informed me a tech would arrive that evening and since they did the furnace, it was no charge. Then he called back at 5:00 to inform me that he made a mistake and would have to charge me $35.00. I balked at that, and then he put a "fake" supervisor on the phone, who then told me they would need a credit card to charge me $99.00 for a service call. They were extremely unprofessional to a customer that gave them over $10,000.00 in business. A courtesy call for poor work would have been the professional thing to do. So I stuck with no occupancy permit and can't sell my house without it.Desired Settlement: I'd like the owner to call me, not one of the techs that have no idea what professionalism is. I would also like the owner to give me a courtesy call and certify what that PVC pipe is for and/or why it was left there doing nothing so that I may sell my property.

Response:

Anything could have happened to that pipe from 2/2011 until now, it has been over 4 years since that work was done. Typically it is correct for us to charge a $99.00 diagnostic fee to go out and check the situation plus the repair. I have called Miss [redacted] and left a message at ###-###-####. I am going to offer the customer we will waive the fee for coming up and will check over the work that was done at no cost. As I had stated the pipe could have came apart or anything could have happened until we send someone out we dont know what the situation is. As soon as Miss [redacted] calls me back we will set up an appointment with her to review the work and go from there.

I just want this company to realize that I am aware of the strong arm tactics they used with me on the phone. I feel that I was treated this way simply because I was dealing with men on the phone and I am a woman. I don't believe they would ever have spoken to a man the way they did. Thank you for responding, but I don't need your help any longer, I called someone else for help. Trust me, I will never give this company another dime of my business, and I will be sure that anyone I know that needs the services they offer do not even consider them.

Review: Contacted to install heat pump for pool.Bid of $1,865 was given to me to install a 50 amp breaker in the main box in my basement, a 30 amp box on pole at pool side, 4 shut off valves, 3 feet of water hose, and a pad for the heat pump to sit on. The two men who gave me the bid insisted that I give them half down in the form of a check. They said their credit card machine was broken. I now believe they didn't want a credit card as payment since that is a transaction that can be disputed. When they came on the to do the work I was at work so my wife let them in. She asked how long it would take and the young man said 3 hours. At one point my wife went outside to check with them and the older man asked if we bought a "floor model". She told them no, you opened the box! After contacting the manufacturer and discovering that one of boards had a burn mark they said they would order the part, have it shipped to my house and return to fix it at that time. The young man then told my wife they were done, and wanted full payment. The heat pump did not work but they had done their job. Once again he wanted only a check, no credit card. He said when the part came in to call their office and if the manufacturer agreed to pay them to come back &cover their fee they would fix it. The receipt I have from them states they installed a 30 amp breaker in the house, no breaker or box at the pool & 3 not 4 shut off valves. When I found out that the job would only take take 3 hrs I realized their estimate was gouging. When the part arrived I called and talked to [redacted]. She said she would get authorization to have her guys come back out.I received a voice mail from her a few days later saying I needed to call the manufacturer to schedule another plumber to finish the job. It was obvious they had no intention of finishing the job.Based on three hours of work and less than $400 in parts this company overcharged us. I called several times & was told [redacted] would return my call but that hasn't happened.Desired Settlement: They say they bill "flat rates"based on the job. If that's true they are saying 3 hours of work equals $1,400 or so in labor. They sent two guys, a helper and an older man to install the heat pump. The plumber who finished the job agreed it should have taken about 3 hours but charging over $1,800 was insane. The breaker cost a little over $100 and everything else would not be more than $300. I think a refund is due for the over excessive charge of labor.

Review: Company advertises "Christian Owned" in the Yellow Pages. Called company to come and look at our plumbing issue. Was told that they would be out between 11:00 - 1:00 the following day. Took off work so that I could be home. At 2:00 I phoned the company to see where they were. They indicated that they are running behind and they would probably be at my home around 3:30-4:30. They NEVER showed NOR called. Courtesy would be to call the client and inform them of their time constraints. Never received a phone call the following day either. Needless to say, I got another plumber to do the work. As far as I'm concerned, this is not a "Christian" company.Desired Settlement: no settlement requested

Response:

We apologize for missing the appointment. Per our notes we were running behind the day of the appointment scheduled for 11-1pm and when we called later in the day to try to reschedule the appointment we did not receive an answer so we don't send the plumber out not knowing if the customer would be home or not. Again we do apologize for the inconvenience and will extend to the customer a free service agreement plan which is a $49.00 to $59.00 value. It is the customers option if they choose to use it or not but it will entitle them to a free furnace, air conditioning, and free plumbing inspection within a one year time frame. They get each one of these inspections once within the one year. In addition if they use us for any future services within a one year time frame they will get service agreement pricing which is a 15% discount. We will mail out this service plan to the customer and again it is the customer's option if they choose to use it or not. Again we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Review: On 2/20/2015 my mother called Westmoreland Affordable Plumbing, Heating & Cooling to come and look at my heater because it would not turn on. She called their [redacted] office as it is the closest to my home. She was told it would be $99.00 for a diagnostic and then we would be quoted a price from there once the issue was determined by their technician. Upon arriving at my home, their technician asked me to sign a blank invoice, stating that my signature was "permission to enter the home and take a look at the furnace." I signed it. Upon entering my home, he looked at the furnace and said "Everything looks fine here. I'm going to take a look outside." After he stepped out, I called my father [redacted], who lives next door to me, and asked him to come over. As a first time home owner, I was hesitant to make any decisions like this on my own. My father arrived within a minute or two. At this time, the technician stated to my father and I that "There is snow packed pretty tight in the intake pipe on the outside of the house. For another thirty bucks, I can get you up and running. Hopefully, I won't have to replace the pipe." I said to my father "Well, he's already here, and it'll only be 129 instead of 99, so I say let's do it." the technician chimed in "Yep. For 129, we can get you up and running." I agreed to have him unclog the pipe. He proceeded to get a shop bar from his truck. He asked me if I had an outdoor outlet that he could plug it into. I do not. He then ran the chord across the yard to my father's house. The technician then sucked the snow out of the pipe with his shop vac. Within two minutes the snow was removed and the furnace was working again. The three of us went inside my home. The technician began writing up and invoice. I asked him "Can I pay with a card?" He said "Yes." As I glanced over his shoulder, I noticed that the invoice was for a total of $228.00. I immediately questioned this figure. The invoice had been blank up until this point. No dollar amounts had been filled in prior to the work being performed. I said "I thought you said it was going to be $129.00??" he replied "Oh, I meant $129.00 IN ADDITION to the $99.00 diagnostic." I replied "Well that's not what you said." my father said "No, that's not what you said." The technician replied "Well it's too late now. You already signed off on the work." I said "You completely misprepresented the cost here!" the technician, now visibly irritated replied again " It's too late. You already signed off on the work." I looked at my father and he said to the technician "You told us that you could have us up and running for $129.00 not $238.00." to which the technician replied "No, that's not what I said." At this point it was clear to my father and I that this man was not going to budge. Mynfather said to the tech "And what is your name?" After somewhat of a long pause, the tech muttered "[redacted]." My father advised me to just settle the bill and to take it up with the owner of the company after the technician left. That's what I did. Once he left, I immediately called the business and asked to speak to a manager. Upon telling him what happened, the man said he would have to speak to the tech and call me back. Upon returning my phone call, the man stated that he did speak to the technician and that "He said that's not what happened. I can offer you a free furnace inspection." I said "There's nothing wrong with my furnace. I don't want it inspected. I want a $99.00 refund. I verbally agreed to pay $129.00 plus tax for the service and that's what I expect to pay." The manager said "I'm not authorized to do that. Can I have my supervisor call you tomorrow?" I said "Yes" and gave the man my contact info. The next day, a woman returned my call. I do not recall her name, but she stated that she was some kind or supervisor. She basically stated that I was the one at fault here and that I shouldn't have signed the invoice because it was blank. She offered to refund me $25.00 and I declined, stating that I did not find that to veto my satisfaction. She said she would have the owner call me on Monday. I said fine. A week went by and I never heard from the owner. I waited until 3/2/2015 to call again. The woman who answered stated that the owner had been "out sick" for the past week and that he was scheduled to return the next day. On 3/3/2015 I received a call from a man who identified himself as the owner of the company. He said that "After reviewing what you said and talking with [redacted], I don't have to do anything for you. You sound to me like a little girl telling a story. We don't do business that way. Sounds to me like after paying, you decided you didn't like our prices and now you're making up a story to get your money back." I was shocked by his rudeness and I said "Sir, your tech completely misrepresented the cost of your services. Whether it was intentionally or unintentionally, I have no idea." the owner said a bunch or things about their "spotless reputation with the Revdex.com", which I have since found to be an untrue claim, and how "We don't do business that way" and things of that nature. I said " So you are going to do nothing to make this right, sir??" to which the man replied "Well, I WAS going to offer you a $30.00 refund, but I don't like the tone in your voice, so you get NOTHING." I informed him that I would be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com and that is what I'm doing.Desired Settlement: I want to be charged the $129.00 that I agreed to, not the $228.00 that the invoice was made out for after the fact. I am seeking a refund of $99.00 to be credited to the Visa card that I paid with.

RE: Complaint# [redacted]We were called to [redacted] home on 2/20/15, she said she had no heat. She was told over the phone that the fee to come out to the home and run testing is $99.00 plus the cost of any repair to fix it. As the tech does on every call he went into the home wrote the diagnostic test fee on the invoice ($99.00) and had her sign the authorization to proceed with the work. After checking out the furnace and running his testing he found nothing wrong with the furnace. At this point he went outside to check around and found a blockage to the intake line. He advised the customer this would be $129.00 to take care of this wrote it on the invoice and had her initial the invoice. Enclosed is a copy of the actual invoice with the signatures and initials for any charges. We have never had a complaint on this technician and at no time was the customer ever quoted a price of $30.00 to clear the intake line. It is written on the invoice with the price and the customer initialed it as well. After the job was done the customer gave him a credit card to pay the bill for the $228.00 (which is the $99.00 diagnostic charge, as well as the $129.00), she then signed the invoice showing the work was complete and paid the bill. The customer then called the office and stated she thought the total was $129.00 for everything, we advised her that wasn’t possible because she was told over the phone $99.00 to come out and run testing which she signed off on the invoice for, and then told additional $129.00 to clean the intake line which she initialed for making her total $228.00. Again the customer was fully aware of all charges and proper procedures were followed. A credit of $30.00 was issued to the customer’s credit card on 3/4/2015 strictly for customer satisfaction, the pricing on the invoice was correct and she knew and signed off for all services. The customer at no time was told it was an additional $30.00 after the $99.00 charge to clear the intake line. Again she signed off on all pricing and I feel this is buyer’s remorse. There are many things people can do themselves once they watch the professionals and see what they do buy this does not entitle them to a credit. If you have any further questions please contact our office at [redacted].

Review: Bought a house in 2012 that had sewer problems previous ownerswere to take care of at closing. Sewer worked a year. In January 2015 I had a second sewer line problem. I had a previous problem with the same line in 2013 the Sanitary Authority fixed, but Jan 2015 had a problem that Westmoreland Affordable Plumbing (WAP) had to fix. The man assured me that after the digging in my yard and the recementing of my porch they had to dig up a part of the porch would be safe. The sewer was fixed in January (satisfied with that part of the job - well done and very quick service) and due to weather delay of recementing the porch. Which I understood after quite a few calls, but I cannot get an answer on what to do about my rock filled front yard (need to reseed) I also have a huge hole where the cementing needs done - they cannot give me a date when will be fixed even though the weather is clearing - I also understand there is some type of warming blanket for cement. WAP will not tell me their plan to fill the hole. They tell me it will settle and I know that because they left the hole uncovered at first and I walked on the dirt and my ankle went in about 1 foot. I had to call and have them bring a board out to cover. It is a mess. All I need from this plumber is a plan and would like done as soon as possible. They cannot tell me how they are going to fill the hole and If I need to have the rock cleaned up in my front yard - I don't know why the would not use that rock to help fill up the hole. I paid approx $10,000 and am very satisfied with the fixing of my sewer but now my yard is torn up and a huge hole in my porch producing a safetly hazard. I know there will be settling but I think they should use the rock to fill the hole and then bring in whatever else is necessary to make the porch safe. They have in the agreement [redacted] inspecting sewer (done) gravleed and back filled sewer but what about the settling ground and my yard is a mess. They are not concerned and I have called many times. I need action. Called again today April 6 and said Supervisor is to call but maybe not today he is busy. This is unacceptable to me as a customer. The covering of the hole where the cement is to be is also covered by a board. It is just a huge safety hazard. All they can say is we are not liable for this and not liable for that. But when I signed on the man said all would be made safe again.Desired Settlement: Westmoreland Plumbing comes out and finishes the job they started and lets me know what they will do and not do so I can get my yard reseeded and my porch cemented and safe. I understand the ground will settle, but how long. I need to get the yard cleaned up and know WAP's plan of action to get this $10,000 job complete and my porch be safe or to let me know what action I need to take for what they are not going to do and what I need to do for my front yard. Thank you.

RE: Complaint #[redacted] Ms [redacted]We did a sewer replacement at Ms. [redacted]'s home in February 2015.At the time we did the work we advised her that we would return whenwe had better weather to do the concrete work. We did complete what we had promised her to do on 4/14/2015. See attached invoice for furtherdetails. It states right on the invoice that we are not responsible for anylandscaping work which would include reseeding the grass etc. Theinvoice also states we will return when weather is warmer to re cementthe porch. As I stated we were at the customers home on 4/14/2015 andtook care of what we needed to. We are sorry for the delay and couldn'tpin down a date we could do the work due to one day would be nice but then the next day would call for rain and we can't cement with any rainin the forecast or it would ruin the work we did. We did adviseMiss [redacted] that we had a list of customers we needed to finish some concrete work for when weather allowed we just couldn't give a specificdate when it would be completed by it would just all depend on the weatherand how it cooperated. As far as I'm aware Ms. [redacted] is not satisfiedher concrete is finished and we told her she would need to have someonein or she would need to do the landscaping. If you have any furtherquestions please call us at ###-###-####.

Review: My aunt contacted this company to take a look at her frozen pipes under her mobile home. They had an ad that she saw stating that they would give an estimate for $35 dollars. They showed up and told her that they could heat the underneath of the trailer with a turbo heater and thaw the frozen pipes to restore the water. They did attempt to thaw the pipes but were unable to restore any running water to the trailer after being there for 2 hours. They told her that it would cost her $637 for their 2 hours of time that day, that gave no results, but that cost would be waived if they could come back and run new pipe, heat tape, and insulate the new pipe for a total of $1895. There was nothing wrong with the existing plumbing except for a few small sections that were missing insulation. I went and attempted to thaw the pipes the next day and succeeded in about the same amount of time and using a turbo heater the same as they had.Desired Settlement: I would like for my aunt to receive a full refund as she paid the $637 not understanding what a poor price and attempt was made to remedy the situation. However, I am sure that there are expenses involved in their attempt and even had advised my aunt to only pay at most $200 for their time and fuel costs as she had called them. She is older and does not understand anything that was involved with the plumbing or even the attempt that was made to thaw the pipes.

Review: I had Affordable Plumbing come to my home to give me an estimate of my issues that I am having with my drains backing up into my basement and raw sewage going everywhere. I was told the man snaked it and it would not go through and there was some sort of crushed pipe in the yard. I was charged $262.00 for this (snaking) by affordable. He told me that it would definitely back up again in 10-12 flushes... I believe I was being mislead by Affordable into thinking it was a far worse problem that would cost me $4,495 to correct. The very next morning, I had more reputable company come out and tell me that they were going to snake my line, because it appeared it HAD NOT BEEN DONE!!! He was able to snake it all the way through to the main.. tearing out all sorts of sludge and roots and what not and told me that there are no broken pipes in my yard.. (all fixed). I am not happy with this business and feel I was taken advantage of in attempt to make more money.Desired Settlement: Refund

We had Mark L[redacted] stop out at the home on 1/20/16. At that time, Mark began running his diagnostics to assess what the problem was at the home with the clogged line. What mark had assessed was that sewage was building up in the yard near the house, leading him to believe there was a broken pipe of some sort. At that time, Mark presented th option of running a sewer snake at a price of $319.00 . Upon consent of price, Mark began running his snake through an outdoor house trap cleanout. Mark was not able to open the line due to a clog in the line. At that time, Mark then presented the customer with a price option for a dig up to fix what he believed to be the problem. After the customer declined further service, Mark gave the customer a 25% discount bringing her new total to a low of $262.00. Upon speaking with the customer, she stated she was dissatisfied with the work due to another plumbing company coming out and providing her with false information about the work our company did. The company stated that we had not snaked the line, as there was "no way we could snake it without pulling the woman's toilet". That information is false, as their is a cleanout vent by the house trap which is required to be on all sewer lines for the sole purpose of using a snake to clean the line. I believe though the company did get the customer's line open, they presented her with false information about our attempted work to try to make their sale and question our initial diagnosis. Also worth noting, if the company did pull roots out of the woman's sewer then their is indeed a break in the sewer line, as that is the only way roots can come in.
