Short assessment Per the homeowners’ complaint, there are 3 items on the estimate that were not completed to White Star’s or the homeowners’ satisfaction. From the attached; the revised and signed bid dated 1/5/16, lines 18, 26 and 34 are unsatisfactory. These items total $411. 43. ...
White Star offered to take off an additional $300.00 as a starting point which was countered back with $2,800.00. The counter-deduction was unreasonable and Mr. [redacted] was informed via phone. [redacted] reached out to Mr. [redacted] on Thursday, 03/24/2016 and he reduced his verbal demand to $2,500.00. It has now been brought to our attention in this complaint the [redacted] state they will settle for a $1,300.00 deduction. The work the [redacted] are unhappy with totals $411.43. White Star has emailed the client on 4/27/16 offering to reduce the balance due by $600.00 in exchange for a satisfactory resolution leaving a balance of $4,078.81. More details · The original estimate approved by their insurance company and signed by the homeowner was for $22,415.77. · After the estimate was approved by their insurance and signed by the homeowners, the homeowners often wanted to renegotiate what was being completed or how much line items cost. They also wanted to see how much items actually cost and were unhappy when they were not allowed to see subcontractor or material invoices. · In order to show good faith, Mr. [redacted] gave the home owner numerous upgrades on the re-roof. This included a 30-year shingle (25-year was previously on the home) and ice/water shield. These upgrades totaled over $1,100.00. · The homeowner asked us to leave the dumpster a few extra days so they could put items unrelated to this project in it at White Stars expense as it is charged by weight/tonage. We allowed that. · The homeowners complained about many items and wanted us not to complete others. White Star revised the previously signed estimate and took out the work not yet completed. WSC created an estimate on 1/5/16 for a total of $11,988.81. The homeowners wanted a further discount and for White Star to reduce the revised estimate by $1,810.00 leaving a balance due to White Star of $10,178.81. On 1/29/16, the homeowners met with me, [redacted] at Alterra Bank. The homeowners signed a revised estimate for $10,178.81 on 1/29/16. The homeowner then paid $5,500.00 of the balance owed. Current balance $4,678.81. · The homeowners on numerous occasions insisted that WSC change our processes and who was allowed to communicate with them. o Mr. [redacted] told me that he would not allow Mr. [redacted] in his home. That made it very difficult to ascertain what was agreed upon by the home owner and WSC’s representative. I acquiesced and took [redacted]. [redacted] has been with WSC since June 2004. o Upon the [redacted] meeting me at Alterra Bank on Friday, January 29th, the [redacted] said they would not talk to [redacted] is WSC’s office manager and has been with WSC since May 2011. [redacted] is responsible for all scheduling, billing, vendor relations and collections. I told them that was not acceptable. At a later point in the meeting, they stated they only wanted me to manage the project. I informed that that was not acceptable and that they would get better service by using all of our people. · White Star has been out there to rectify their disputes for a few of the items twice. · Per the homeowners’ complaint, there are 3 items on the estimate that were not completed to White Star’s or the homeowners’ satisfaction. Mr. [redacted] was terminated on 3/3/2016, in part due to this job.
