We contracted this company in December to build a storage building We were told it would take about weeks to complete Building was finally finished in May 2015....almost months later!
Mr*** repeatedly told us he would be there to work and didn't show up, didn't call This happened at least times, and that is a conservative estimate He always had an excuse for not showing up, and NEVER ONCE did he apologize for his no-show/no-call OR for how long the project took
I wish I would've researched him better prior to hiring him I would've seen the Revdex.com complaints against him*** *** *** *** - I wish I hadn't trusted him
As far as my building is concerned - It's terrible Very poor workmanship

I hired Mr [redacted] to build an attached carport.I hired mr [redacted] to build the carport on 10/10/14. Building permit was obtained by mr [redacted] on 10/30/14. He came and set posts for carport on 11/6/14. After the post where set he never returned . By 1/6/15 I told him not to bother coming back to finish it and I would hire someone else. Between 11/6/14 and 1/6/15 I contacted him several times and was always giving an excuse as to why he couldn't come finish it. He ordered trusses and had them sent to my house prior to 1/6/15. He has only paid for half the trusses and I'm having to pay the other half. He was giving $2300.00 at the start of the job and had more than enough to pay for them. I also have communcation documents from him saying he sent the truss company payment several times , but I have been communicating with the truss company myself and that has been a lie other than the $500.00 he sent . Also have communication documents saying he still owes me $400.00 and he sent it by mail to me , which is also a lie. The name of the truss company is[redacted] in which he still owes $500.00. This guy several reviews on [redacted] with a few of them having the same problem. His company name on there is custom barns and decks. He has told one customer on there that he has went out of business, which is the same thing he has told Revdex.com. I just want what is owed to me and be done with this whole situation. Anybody who operates a business in this manner should not be allowed to operate a business at all.Desired SettlementAll I want is for the trusses to be paid for by April 1st and the $400.00 he still owes me. If trusses are not paid for by April 1st I want $900.00 because I will be sending [redacted] the remaining balance left by Mr.[redacted] then.Business Response Cancellation of original contract by homeowner and invoice has been mailed. Consumer Response Case is not closed .

Construction Issues and Unfinished JobSigned contract for a 30x30 Garage mid to late July 2013. When Mr [redacted] set up the form for the concrete pad, there was a inward bow on one side. His wife and I both commented on it but he said when he poured the concrete the bow would push out. After the concrete was poured and dried, there was a 2 inch inward bow "have pics" on one side thus having only about 1 inch of bottom plate on concrete for a main wall. Concrete pad is uneven. After the recent snow fall and rain, I had snow and rain blown inside the garage between the concrete pad and bottom plate. I can also slide a license plate under one section of the bottom plate to the outside. It also took Mr [redacted] 3 months to do the construction. He would come work 3 or 4 hrs and leave and not come back for 2 or 3 days. I would call to see where he was and it was always I'll be there tomorrow and end up being 2 or 3 days later. When it came time for the Trusses he said he had called the Truss Company for delivery. After a week and no Trusses I called him to see what the hold up was, he said they had truck problems and couldnt deliver them. After another week I called the Truss Company myself and they said that he had not called for them to be delivered. Trusses finally got delivered and Mr [redacted] said he would be there the day after they were delivered. Needless to say, a week and a half later he showed up to install the Trusses. Mr [redacted] finally got the garage closed in and mostly Vinyl sided by the first of November, 3 months after staring the project. He didnt finish some Vinyl work on the back of the garage "leaving exposed wood I might add" but said he would be back to finish it. I have called him numerous times only to get his voice mail. I have left messages and he has not returned my calls nor shown up to finish the job and its been 3 months now. I have called him to discuss the unfinished job and a reimbursement on the poor craftsmanship on the concrete pad. The bottom plate is not treated lumber and with it being subjected to water, its only a matter of time before it starts to rot. Desired SettlementI would like for him complete the vinyl work that he has not finished and a $1400 reimbursement for the poor and uneven craftsmanship of the concrete pad.Business Response /[redacted]/See attachedFinal Consumer Response /[redacted]/I thought I had sent a response but it was still in my out box. Sorry for the delay. I would like for Mr [redacted] to come and complete the job that was not finished. Thanks

Contacted [redacted] on 9/21/13.. He came to my home, signed contract, and received $3,000 deposit. It's 11/8/13 and he has not complete.[redacted] came recommended plus he advertises in the [redacted] He came to my residence on 9/21/13 signed contract to build a 12x20 with two ext on each side. two doors and three windows. We signed contract and he cashed my $3,000 dep Monday 9/23/13. [redacted] stated that this was a two day job and he would complete that week. Thursday came and he has not shown up, so I call him. I tore down my old bldg. because he said he would be here Tues 9/24/13. [redacted] came and worked four hours and framed the bldg. but not the extensions. I called repeatedly attempting to get him to finish or at least roof bldg. I had to threaten to take him to court to get a response. He filed for bldg. permit and failed to meet with inspectors at my house to discuss the many things that were not to code. 10/24/13 [redacted] said he would work Saturday and get framed and ready for inspection. He didn't show again. The excuse was his workers did not answer phone. 10/28/13 [redacted] showed up and worked for two hours. I spoke with him and explained I was going to pick my son up from school and I would be back. He was almost finished with the first extension with plenty of light left, so I thought they would complete for insp that day. I got back home fifteen minutes later and they were gone. He left the holes for the post not filled in and wood blocks and bags everywhere. I tried to contact him, but he did not answer or return my text. 10/29 I text and asked if he was going to work at my house. He said it would be Thursday. Well Thurs 10/31/13 shows up and [redacted] once more failed to follow through with his deadlines. I was shocked ! I contacted him and he tried to give me a way out. I said we need to stay by the contract.[redacted] told me once again that he would have me finished by Wed 11/6/13 and he has not shown up. We have been forty days and I have a frame and no shingles that has been exposed to the weather. I went to [redacted] to buy tarp to cover today and get out of rain. None of the code issues have been addressed and my building is not built. [redacted] has 3,000 dollars of the total $5,575 that we signed and shook hands on. This man has no credibility and has an excuse for everything! I learned to NEVER give money to a job unless it's complete no matter how good they can talk. What's right is right and he owes me the money it's going to take to get this building completed to code. 11/7/13 I have a lot of proof that can be used as needed. Don't forget that he applied for building permit in [redacted] county. He attempted to build a sub par building and got caught. I think that is why he opted not to complete the build. There is a lot to do to get this bldg. to code. Desired SettlementWe have a signed contract and I have a half built frame that is not to code. I want [redacted] to pay a contractor to finish what he started and failed to honor the contract we signed. I have a lot of time and energy calling this man attempting to get this resolved. All I ask for was him to communicate and he failed to do that. I do not want him on my property, but since he broke the contract, he should pay to fulfill it.Business Response First off, We were not recommended to Mr [redacted]. We built him a building a couple of years ago, and He was completely happy with the building.Meet with him on Saturday 9-21 and signed the contract. Informed him that we would try to get to him by the end of the week.I never told him that it would be complete by the end of the week,He in fact had a old metal building to tear down, and said he would try to have it down by the next weekend.I in fact told him it would take a few days to get the permit. Yes I told him I was getting a permit. They are required for buildings wider than 12 feet.He called Tuesday and said he had the old building down, and all his things were covered by a tarp in the yard and needed the building put up. I informed him that the Building inspector for the city of [redacted] told me it would be Monday or Tuesday Before the Permit would be issued. He told me not to worry about the permit, He could not wait till next week. I told him , being in a neighborhood, that the Building inspector would probably be called and that permit fees could be doubled, He told us to come on and put the building up anyway. We framed up a 16 x 20 ,not a 12 x 20 as he has stated in his complaint. It took us close to 5 hours just to get the building framed and dried in with paper on the roof.As of that point the building was no where close to being ready for a inspection , if we had a permit, but it allowed him to put some of his items in the building for the weekend because of rain coming in.Monday came and we were in the process of loading the rest of the material to finish the builg , when he called and asked if I was going to pick up a permit,Because he had a Electrician lined up to wire the building and He would not do it without a permit. I told him I wold call the inspector and explain the situation We unloaded all the material we had loaded. The inspector was very nice and I turned in all the paper work to get the permit.I never was supposed to meet with the inspector, He informed me that he would go and look at the building and get back to me.He called back the next day and told me that three things needed to pass inspection were hurricane ties , header above the doors and windows and Building anchored. We did not get to these on the first trip and knew they had to be done. After many calls and many texts,Which He explained to me that his father was a licensed contractor, and that the framing wasn't to code,I offered Him a way out as he said...I offered A refund on what was not completed, So he could hire someone else, He never even asked how much. Which would have been a full refund if he wanted it,Being the building is on skids and fully moveable I would make arrangements to pick up the building,Being he was not satisfied with it.He declined and said we needed to stick to the contract. We went back to start on the extensions and get the building ready for inspection, When we arrived No one came out to talk to us. We could not address the code issues because the building was loaded with all the items that were once in the yard, were now ,in the building. We could not get to where we needed without moving alot of stuff. He came out as we were finishing up and said he would be back later. We didn't know how long that would beFor him to say I have no credibility and have a excuse for everything is his personal opinion and There is nothing I can do about that. The building was built the same as the first one we built him with no complaints at all.He said I got caught for not having a permit. That is not true. I told him I was applying for a permit and he told me not to, that he had to have the building up before the rain came..I should have known better and I blame my self for that..He keeps repeating that I have $3000.00 of his money and he wants a full refund now, When if fact I offered it a long time ago, but now he wants the building, and the 10 foot extension for free.I have emailed him, and will be sending a certified bill in which he owes me $195.00 for labor and materials..All receipts, emails, texts and 5 voice mails are available, plus the number to the city of [redacted] building inspector, not [redacted] county inspections Where the 3 things to get to code can be obtained. This will probably end up in court because I really don't see a compromise but I will refund his money and ask the court for writ of possession of the building that we built, being that it is on skids and moveable, and not what he wants..So either keep the building or,get you're money back. I can't do both... I can have someone else move the building, being that he does not want me on the property.Final Consumer Response To begin, I have lived and rented in [redacted] the past seven years and have not had any building built. I am not sure where the builder gets his information. My son's baseball coach referred this gentleman. Furthermore, I am a customer. I do not, nor am I supposed to know about building permits. That is the reason I hired a builder. Why would I not want a permit? It would protect both the homeowner and the builder. In addition, the electrician is independent of the builder. He did not say that he could not do the work without a permit as the builder stated above. In fact, the electrical part has already been inspected and there still is no building permit because the builder has failed to pick it up. I do agree that the inspection dept in [redacted] county are great! They have agreed to help me any way they can in this matter. This is the first time I have heard the builder offer a "full refund". Contrary to his statement, he only offered to deduct the doors, windows, siding, and shingles from the $3000 deposit. I could not accept that because the building is not to code. I will be glad to submit a list from the [redacted] County Inspection Department. According to the list, there are nine items that need correcting. They range from adding ceiling joist, to needing additional studs, to corner anchors, to metal ties on top plates, to hurricane ties, to headers, and the list goes on. The bottom line, he tried to sell me an inferior product and get away with it. When he found out what needed to correct, I did not hear from the builder again accept to the two hours he worked on the extension. In rebuttal to his response, the builder never knocked on my door. I was on the back side of the house, and once I heard him I went outdoors. I told him that I was going to pick my son up from high school and be right back. We live in a small town of 3000-5000 people. How long could it take? Here again, no call from the builder nothing. Can you see a pattern? The builder blames the customer for everything. Isn't it his responsibility to communicate with the customer? This has been a nightmare! I do think we can resolve this by the following.1. Complete my building per contract to code in a timely manner.Final Business Response I never said the electrician could not do the work. I said that you asked the following week if I had picked up the permit because the electrician was getting his own permit, and the building inspector would be coming out to inspect his work. As far as the building not being up to code, I knew it was no where close to code, We just framed enough of the building to get it where he could put some items out of the weather. When we came back to proceed with getting it ready for inspection, the building was loaded with everything from the old building he tore down. I offered a partial refund on what it would take to finish the building, and he refused, after filing the complaint here and basically, well true-fully his lawyers letter calling me a fraud and dishonest, and not to come back on his property, I offered him a full refund and I would have someone pick up the building,And we would go our separate ways. This would incur no cost to him! He refused Now he wants me to come back and finish the building. We will not be coming back on his property as he asked in his first response. As he stated, I have all the emails, texts and voice mails if needed. He has been sent a final bill. In conclusion, I have been in construction for 30 yrs, and know what the N.C. building codes are.He stated that the building was sub par, when in fact it was just not finished, Being that he is not satisfied with the building, Do as any unsatisfied customer with any product, return it for a refund. My offer is to pick the building up, and refund his money, or if he wants to go to court, then I will file for writ of possession of the building with the return of his down payment. If he wants to keep the building, then mail the payment of $195.00 to me for the receipt I emailed him some 30 days ago.. There is 2 sides to every story, and I'm truly sorry we could not come to a resolution ...
