Williams Body Shop Reviews (1)

Review: On 8/26/13 we dropped our vehicle off to said body shop to have some refinishing work done as well as some repair work done to an area of rust. After not hearing from the [redacted], we contacted him on the 30th of August to learn that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. We attempted to pick the vehicle up on 9/3/13 but were unsuccessful due to the paint not matching the original color that was on the vehicle. We also were unsatisfied with the repair work that had been done to the area of rust as the paint was already starting to bubble. When approaching the [redacted], his first words were, What do you think? We expressed our dissatisfaction with the paint color, lack of blending and the poor body work to which he replied the he would do what he could to fix the problem and that he would do the best he could. He then returned to his shop and did not come back out to discuss the problem further with us. We had to enter his shop and discuss what the plan would be to fix the problem. The [redacted] decided that he would call the paint man and have him come out to discuss the problem. At that time the [redacted] walked away and in a minute the paint man arrived. The paint representative stated that he would have a representative from [redacted] come to assess the problem and they would ensure that the correct paint color would be provided. We heard nothing else from the [redacted] until 9/17/13 when my husband returned to the shop to determine how the corrections were going and restated what our expectations were. We later received a phone call on 9/20 not from the [redacted], but the paint representative, who stated that the car was ready to be picked up. We returned to pick the car up on 9/23 to which we found again the rust area to not be fixed to our satisfaction. When approached about the situation, the [redacted] clearly was not interested in rectifying the situation. When asked about the rough rust area, the [redacted] stated that he had not gotten down there and looked at it. He then walked back into his office and did not come back out. He briefly stated that he could buff the area out and that it should be complete on 9/24. I approached the [redacted] in his office to discuss our dissatisfaction and he never turned from his file cabinet to address me. He had a conversation with me in which he never turned to look at me. I was merely speaking to the back of his head. I informed him that I expected a phone call when the vehicle was complete on 9/24. I never received a phone call on 9/24 and called the [redacted] later that day, the 24th. I was told that the car was complete and that it was perfect. Nothing was ever mentioned about form of payment. I was never told, nor did I ever sign anything that stated paying with a check was unacceptable. We returned to the shop to retrieve the car. We wrote a check for the amount that was written on the estimate and when I handed the check to the [redacted] he stated that was not going to take a check from us because he has had problems with us and did not trust us. I told the [redacted] that I was not going to get cash for him and that I was paying him with a check. He discussed that he was not going to take the check as a form of payment from us. He then stated that was going to call the [redacted]. I informed him that I had no problem with him calling the [redacted]. The [redacted] called the [redacted] who came and reported that it was a civil matter and that he could not get involved but suggested that I pay the [redacted] with cash as it was not within my legal right to take my vehicle from the lot if he was not going to accept my check as a form of payment. I then left and retrieved cash from the bank, in the form of 1s and 5s and returned to pay the [redacted]. When he was handed the money he stated that he had heard of people doing this before trying to be cute. This [redacted] not only does substandard work but also has lackluster customer service skills. It took him three times to correct the problems on our vehicle, after keeping it almost a month. We can overlook the extended amount of time it took to repair the vehicle since it eventually, after three tries, it was corrected but we cannot overlook the avoidance and lack of concern that the [redacted] showed while dealing with us. We also cannot overlook the fact that he called the [redacted] and called us untrustworthy and would not accept our check as a form of payment.Desired Settlement: The [redacted] should provide us with a sincere, written apology acknowledging his mishandling of this situation and his poor customer service skills.

Response:

Spoke with the business, it was stated that the customer is accurate in their statement of the complaint. He is sorry if the customer was upset with the way it was handled.
