Wingate by Wyndham of Missoula

Review: I stayed at the Wyndham Wingate on July 9th, 2013. In addition to the room charge, the company charged an unauthorized amount of $150 to my credit card. When I found the charge on my credit card statement I called the hotel to try to resolve the issue. I was told that they "found a cigarette butt in my room" and would not remove the charge. I nor anyone else smoked in that hotel room. The unlit cigarette was carried into the room to dispose of, but was never lit or smoked. I spoke with [redacted]. on the telephone. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and can say that he was the rudest hotel staff that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. The charge is still on my credit card as they refuse to reverse it.Desired Settlement: I want $150 credited to my Visa credit card. No one smoked in the room and the charge is unwarranted.

In reference to the above case, while I regret that he felt our staff was rude to him, I feel strongly that if a customer becomes unreasonable or verbally abusive to a staffperson, that customer should be turned over to me. That being said, I personally spoke with the guest the day he filed the complaint. We felt that we had ample evidence to support the smoking fee, in accordance with the agreement that the customer had signed at check in. We also stand by our position that simply possessing a medical marijuana card does not entitle the card holder to smoke in a non-smoking facility. However, this guest stated that he would spend as much time as possible trying to tarnish our reputation through the Revdex.com, Trip Advisor, social media, etc.

To bring the issue to a close, we reversed the smoking charge for him.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9640299, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[redacted] claims that I stated I would spend as much time as possible trying to tarnish Wyndham Wingate of Missoula's reputation. This is not true. I told her that I would do whatever it took to get my $150 back, which is quite different, since it was fraudulently collected in the first place. Just when I thought that this was resolved, [redacted] continues to make claims that I smoked in her facility. Once again, this is not true. It seems that I don't need to tarnish their reputation, Ms. [redacted] seems to be doing a great job of it all by herself. I am grateful that the smoking charge was reversed, but now I feel that I should be compensated for the time wasted trying to recoup the charge as well as the suffering endured having to deal with the audacious staff that works at this establishment. [redacted] continues to taunt me in her Revdex.com responses. I think it suffices to say that I will NEVER stay at a Wyndham resort again.
