The camp is ok if you have nothing better to compare it to, but once you compare to other gymnastics camps, you will not miss this one. Most of the coaches at this camp are previous campers who attend mainly for fun as they don’t get paid (although by law they should). The owner is rude, disorganized, and since he doesn’t own the actual camp (he rents it) the dates are always changing every year, sometimes being too close to start of the school year. There isn’t much supervision at the camp, so be careful with sending teen girls there as they have had male camp counselors who flirt with younger girls. Transportation is an issue every year, and since the owner is old fashioned, he doesn’t have a system to communicate with parents via an auto e-mail or text as all schools do these days. Instead, he claims to have to call about 40 people, so by the time you get notified it might be an hour or two after the issue (like the bus being 2 hours late due to traffic). The gymnastics equipment is set up in a tent, so if you tumble and go to the side you will be on the grass. I would suggest you send your girls to UW-Whitewater resident gymnastics camp (Warhawk Women’s Gymnastics National Champions). It’s cheaper ($485), better organized, closer to Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago (so no need to spend so much on bus) and all the coaches are professional gymnastics coaches, not unpaid camp counselors. UW-Whitewater offers 4 sessions each summer, so you have more options than having to wait until the summer is over to attend Porter. I think Porter should only be for boys because I wouldn’t send my daughter there again after all the stories she tells me. The University of Illinois also offers a resident camp ($495) towards the end of June and also Illinois State University has a girl’s gymnastics resident camp for $399 in mid June.
