Wissinger's Repair Reviews (2)

As your letter we received stated, there are two sides to every dispute. We appreciate the opportunity to present the facts of the complaint in question. On the evening of September 26th, 2014 our business received a request for service from [redacted], with whom we have been contracted with for over 30...

years. The member's contacted his home club, [redacted], to request his vehicle, a 2001 Volvo, be towed from his home to a repair facility of his choice. Due to the member's location he was not within his home club's area. Therefore, his request was passed along to the [redacted] club to be dispatched. Our facility was contacted to provide service to this member. Even though he was within our club area, the member was not in our contracted area for service. Another provider was unavailable therefore we agreed to accept the call for service. As to the member's claim that he waited two hours, our truck was on scene within 40 minutes of receiving the dispatch. The time that elapsed between his call to his home club and the time that we were dispatched is entirely out of our control.
To address the next issued, the customer wrote that his car "sits low to the ground". There were several photographs taken of the customer's front bumper while the vehicle was at his residence. They were taken with an Apple iPhone that records the geographical location of each photo taken. In these photographs it is obvious that this bumper had previous damage. On Monday September 29th 2014, these photos were emailed to the [redacted] Supervisor of the [redacted] Pennsylvania club by our facility. This supervisor then forwarded the pictures of the member's bumper to his home club, [redacted]. Their Approved Auto Repair Manager reviewed the photos. The two clubs "agreed the damage looked pre-existing and the bumper was already in need of replacement", it was their conclusion that the member "did not incur any monetary loss". A copy of this letter was sent to Wissinger's Auto & Truck Repair from [redacted]s club headquarters and is readily available upon request.
The owner of Wissinger's Auto & Truck Repair was contacted by the driver after the member became belligerent with the driver. According to Google Maps, the member's location from our facility is a 25 minute drive. Since the member's location was outside of our contracted service area a 30 minute arrival time is not unreasonable.
The member claimed in his statement the owner "became confrontational and engaged in name calling". The member was asked if he swore at the driver in which he stated that he had. The owner never lost his composure. The member had made the statement when the owner arrived, "what are you going to do, make my day even worse?" Therefore, implying the member was under some type of previous distress from earlier in his day.
The owner used his cellphone to take the previously mentioned pictures of the member's 2001 Volvo. He also used the same iPhone's flashlight while he was on scene. Therefore, the claim that he was approached in a "threatening manner with a large flashlight" is completely false.
We hope this reply sheds some light onto the events which occurred that evening, if any further information is needed please do not hesitate to contact our facility. In conclusion, we agree with the two [redacted] clubs that are involved in this incident that no monetary loss has occurred to the member because his bumper cover was in serious need of replacement prior to his call for service.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: On 09/26/2014, I placed a call to the [redacted] roadside assistance office for services. My 2001 Volvo C-70 needed to be towed to a garage for a mechanical issue. At that time, [redacted] dispatched a "local provider", Wissinger's auto / towing to handle the job. After approximately two hours, a driver arrived with a roll back tow truck. He insisted that I back my car out of my driveway onto the street and face the rear of his truck with the front end of my car. Thecar is a convertible and sits low to the ground. I asked the driver (who never introduced himself by name) if it was going to be a problem to load my vehicle due to the low ground clearance. He replied that it would not. After a twenty minute delay while the driver attempted to get the winch on his truck working, he began to pull the car with a jerking motion onto the rollback. The front bumper (bottom) of the vehicle immediately came into contact with the rear edge of the rollback causing damage to the bumper. The driver attempted to put wooden blocks under the front tires of my vehicle and continued to "jerk" the car forward onto the truck. At this point a loud crack was heard from under the front of my car. The driver stopped and said "oh explanitive" the hook slipped and I just broke your bumper. The car rolled backward off the rollback again making a loud cracking noise as it settled back to a stop. The driver then called the owner of the company to come out and see the damage he had caused. I returned inside my house as it was going to take the owner about 30 minutes to arrive. After seeing a second rollback arrive at the end of my driveway, I walked out to meet the owner Mr. [redacted]. As soon as I got close to where he was kneeling at the front of my vehicle, he sprang to his feet and became confrontational and engaged in name calling. He further approached me in a threatening manner with a large flashlight and put his finger in my face. He proceeded to curse and asked me, "what are you going to do about it, explanitive?"Desired Settlement: I want the damage caused by Wissinger auto / towing repaired.
